i think these are good points, and i too have written up some thoughts about why i think their reactions to the vision were so different some time ago where i share this sentiment (if more focused on andrew's side).

i mean, sure people can have all the headcanons they want, but it's a bit strange to me how it seems to have become a "mainstream" interpretation of ashley that she's some sort of entirely asexually motivated personality. i just.....don't see it? the way she comes across to me is more of the opposite, really. she acts inappropriately intimately towards her brother a lot and seems to be super into their weird escalating flirting, but even when she's talking/thinking about other people it's very commonly shown in the game that she'll make comments about people's sex lives unprompted.

i still think that this has a lot to do with her being unable to tell apart romantic/sexual/platonic attraction from each other and her lack of understanding of boundaries, but i'm basically just re-iterating what i already wrote in my post at this point.

so to wrap this reply up, yeah OP i agree, people are being weirdly pushy about the headcanon of ashley only using sex as a calculated tool of leverage, when in my opinion you'll have to ignore the majority of her characterization and interactions in the game to come to this conclusion in the first place. ashley's "brand" of emotional manipulation doesn't seem calculated to me at all (so i'm not sure if you could even call it "manipulation"). it's impulsive and frantic and messy and she doesn't seem to have any control over her outbursts that lead to her conflicts with andrew (who evidently feels emotionally blackmailed/guilt-tripped by them anyway for the two of them to negatively re-enforce each other). i don't see that she would suddenly be able to act completely differently when it comes to sex.

Ok drunk again (I promise this won’t be a running theme for the most part but I’m less anxious about writing small with something in me) and I keep seeing people say “oh Ashley doesn’t actually crave sex with Andrew, she just sees it as a way to keep him around” and like. I guess in a sense maybe? I mean the vision clearly lets her know that Andrew would be much more likely to stay around and her reaction is less intense than his to it, but like. It’s clearly something she also wants aside from control, right?

I’m sorry that she’s seemingly more glad that she’s gotten the first vision she’s had that doesn’t warn of her and him getting killed, and with her jokes about sexual topics being prevalent (not to mention pretty willing to sleep with the guard for food), is it not possible that — just maybe — that Ashley can still feel sexual desire without being a flustered mess when the idea of incestuous sex comes up?

I know that this is a common joke in the fandom but… she’s summoned demons and cannibalized multiple people without a ton of issue, not to mention murder as a child. Andrew has always been the one who has far greater emotional reactions to all of this, and Ashley also has a far more malleable moral compass.

I think the catalyst that proves why she actually wants this kind of relationship is her calls to Julia, where she, among other things, accuses Julia of thinking herself superior just because only one of them can have sex with Andrew and it wasn’t her. These are calls that Andrew, at the very least, wasn’t able to hear for one reason or another. This is emotional, raw, and showcases her insecurity. She wants Andrew to treat her like he treats Julia, like a girlfriend, and that includes sex. To her knowledge, the comment about sex was only ever intended to be heard by Julia, and it doesn’t really help in the harassment aside from showing how desperately she wants Julia gone.

You know that trope? Where someone shows true colors when nobody else can see them? I think this is a fucked version of that. She’s not a bad boy saving a box of stray kittens, she’s a woman desperate for one man who, by the norm, is unavailable to her, and she’s envious that others get to have him. This isn’t a moment of manipulating Andrew, it’s a moment where her desires, which are otherwise muted, are shown to someone in an attempt of further harm. Maybe it hurt Julia, but it also tells us that she really does desire Andrew.

it's also just ridiculous and embarrassing how so many people act like they're being tied to a chair and forced to look at/engage with media they don't like. if it's upsetting or disturbing or even just mildly annoying to you, don't look at it. don't talk about it. don't let it take up any amount of your lifetime thinking about it. it's not for you. it wasn't made for your enjoyment and especially not to spite you in particular. go engage with media that you enjoy instead, or do something fun, have a good meal, unironically just go to touch some grass (whether metaphorically or literally).

i think the whole underlying actual problem that too many people are ignoring or unaware of is that too many social media users don't how to have a healthy relationship with media anymore. but also that's their problem, not mine. so if someone shrugs and says "grow up", then moves on, it's really a broad hint that you need to take a step back and think about what makes you want to go and waste strangers' time about shit that literally doesn't matter.

which...in a way, should probably also be a reminder to the op of this post, to everyone reblogging it, and therefore also to myself, that the same applies in reverse and next time you/me/we see something like the image above that you can just. let that exist and not let it take up real estate in your day, and move on. it's not for you.
