gang I need your help I have a phrase I really want to catch on and it’s calling any secret or invisible struggle you have a “fight with a gorilla” like the onion article. if they can have cinnamon roll catch on this can too. “yeah she told me about it, I had no idea, sounds like a real fight with a gorilla” “sorry man I can’t come I’ve really been fighting the gorilla lately” do you see the vision

The results are in!
Thanks to everyone who voted in that poll.
Only 3.7% voted "I don't want this," while 78.1% expressed interest in the proposed ideas, and 11.9% voted neutrally.
I'm glad that the response was so positive! I'll be going ahead with the changes outlined.
Tumblr media
To reiterate: this does NOT mean that the blog is shifting away from its original focus of archiving 10k+ note gorilla posts. Those are here to stay, and there will be more in the future. It just means there will be some fun gorilla-related bonus content in between.
I'll kick this off next Friday.

1 hour left to cast your vote!
Spicing up gorillaheritageposts
As I mentioned in my previous post about the new update schedule,
I'm tossing around ideas on how to make the blog more engaging between those updates.
Here are the ideas I've got so far:
1) Polls
ex: "Which zoo has your favorite gorilla habitat?"
2) Ask games
ex: "Send me an outfit and I'll doodle a gorilla wearing it"
3) Show and tell threads
ex: "Reblog this post with your gorilla art"
4) Photo Fridays
I would upload 1-3 interesting gorilla photos each Friday, or maybe just the first Friday of every month.
*Note: these types of posts would be infrequent (no more than once per week, during periods of inactivity) and would also be tagged for filtering purposes.
Feel free to give feedback in the replies. Thanks for reading!

No idea why that poll got marked as mature, and no clue how to appeal it.
Do some community labels get applied automatically by a system that detects certain words? Or did some users really want to express their displeasure with my poll? How many people have to suggest a label before it gets applied?

Have you considered running a queue instead? That way you can post even if you're not online. Hope this helps 🦍🦍🦍
I actually had been running a queue! The problem is refilling it. Searching for things on Tumblr is like pulling teeth. A lot of blogs have search disabled, are dashboard-viewable only, and most users don't have the same tagging habits as they did ~10 years ago.
So my strategy is limited to appending /tagged/gorilla and /search/gorilla to the end of random blog URLs and hoping that something comes up, something other than the Navy Seal Copypasta or posts I've already reblogged. This makes finding new 10k+ note gorilla posts time-consuming.
That being said, I do plan to make more use of the queue in the future (as long as my followers approve - details incoming) to hopefully keep things lively while I'm away :)

gorillaheritageposts is changing its posting schedule
First off, sorry for not making an announcement sooner regarding the blog's impromptu hiatus. Offline/real world matters take priority, but that doesn't mean I can't still keep my followers in the loop.
Basically, daily updates just aren't feasible anymore. My enthusiasm for running this blog hasn't gone anywhere, but I'm currently unable to commit the same amount of time to it as I used to.
So what can be expected going forward?
Updates will become more sporadic. This means days or even weeks may pass between updates.
I'm tossing around ideas on how to make the blog more engaging between those updates. I'll post a poll with more info about this soon.
Thank you all for sticking around, see you soon!
