could you explain why you and perhaps other people think joey votto is gay?

I mean it's just rumours, and it's half humorous so don't take it at face value but as you've guessed I'm not the only one who thinks this, there's been rumours since his minor league days and the combination of him staying in a low-media city, being very private and uncoupled in his late thirties with no record of any girlfriends etc etc is a pretty strong ground for gay people on the internet to claim him, as is tradition
