A Late Christmas
Tumblr media
Hiii guess who’s not dead  _(:3」∠)_. This was my secret santa for the wonderfun @beautiful-mystic-mess on a discord server. It’s been a long time since I’ve written a fic so I think it’s a bit rusty but I hope you all enjoy it regardless.
Some jobs don't slow down or stop during the holiday season, and celebrating the holidays together became hard when both you and Gavin did such jobs. Gavin still had to go away on missions and regular shifts regardless of the season. If anything, Gavin was working even more, and you were busy preparing and executing Christmas specials for everyone else to watch at home with their loved ones. Still, you felt a sense of joy just from it being the holidays season.
You had already brought Gavin's gift over a month ago, knowing that when December came, your chances to go shopping for anything that wasn't necessities would be few and far between. The watch Gavin wore regularly was starting to suffer from wear and tear, and you decided it was time he got an upgrade. You had brought him a nice watch, one that was durable and comfortable while still being fashionable. It was already gift wrapped, but you had still felt the need to hide it for good measure for all the times Gavin came over unannounced. You had given Gavin his own keys months ago, and him coming over to stay the night had become a regular routine during the holiday season. With how busy you both were, there weren't many other ways to see each other.
Three days before Christmas
You woke up to an empty apartment. Traces of Gavin being there the night before were present: his clothes from the day before in the clothes basket, a drink he had bought but not finished in the fridge, and a slight dent in the pillow next to you where he slept. But the man himself was long gone, likely leaving hours before you had awoken. You couldn't help feeling disappointed as you got ready for work, wishing you had woken up earlier to spend at least a bit of time with Gavin. You knew that he would likely scold you for getting up early despite not needing to when you were so tired from work, but at this point, you thought the scolding would be worth it.
You headed into the office and tried your best to greet everyone happily; everyone was tired due to the extra workload of holiday specials, and you were determined to keep everyone's spirits as high as possible. Still, the entire day felt like you were operating on autopilot. You felt relief wash over you as soon as the day was over.
You went back to your apartment and immediately went to bed, tiredness taking over you as soon as your body hit the mattress. You hoped tomorrow you'd be able to see Gavin.
Two days before Christmas
You awoke again to an empty apartment, but this time a comforting smell was in the air. You went into the kitchen and found a paper bag containing food from your favourite nearby cafe. It was still warm, signifying that you had only just missed Gavin. You picked up the bag to read the note tucked underneath.
Make sure to eat well even when you're busy. - Gavin
You smiled to yourself as you ate the food and got ready for the day ahead. Unlike yesterday, you entered the office with an honest smile and were able to focus on your work.
After work, you headed to Gavin's favourite restaurant before heading home, getting takeaway for you both in the hopes of eating together. You knew he might not come home until the early hours of the morning again today, but you knew he'd appreciate the food even if he had to reheat it.
You opened the door to your apartment and paused once you saw Gavin's shoes near the door. Immediately, a smile donned your face as you called out to him. Quickly taking your shoes off, you practically ran inside with your eyes darting around until you spotted Gavin approaching you.
"Welcome home," Gavin said as you threw yourself into him, awkwardly wrapping your arms around his torso with the takeaway bags still in your hands. You released a content sigh as you basked in his warmth, not wanting to pull away despite the awkward position.
"I brought food," You muttered into his chest, making Gavin chuckle.
"I can see that. Thank you," Gavin replied before starting to pull away. He took the takeaway bags from you with one hand and grabbed one of your hands with the other. Gavin led you to the table and placed the bags down before turning to your kitchen draws. He took out everything you needed, navigating the ins and outs of your kitchen from memory with no hesitation.
"We should live together," You blurted out accidentally. You immediately realised what you said and felt nervous, scared that Gavin would disagree. As you looked at him, you noticed a blush blossoming across Gavin's skin. He seemed to pause for a second before smiling at you and speaking.
"After the holidays, we're too busy to move in together right now," He stated, seemingly not feeling the need to say any more on the topic. He placed the cutlery on the table and moved to sit down, ready to eat.
You both ate slowly, too focused on being with each other properly for the first time in what feels like forever. You told each other about your days, taking bites of food now and then as you hung onto each other's every word. Gavin couldn't tell you much about his work, but he still could always share Eli's antics and all the things he saw that were not confidential. He sees a lot while flying over the city. You shared stories about your workdays too. A smile was on your face the whole time regardless of the subject; Gavin's presence alone was enough to make you happy.
Christmas Eve
You woke up to an empty apartment once again. You couldn't help feeling a bit sad as you got up and started getting ready for work, but you were happy you at least got to spend last night with Gavin.
You tried to stay positive as you headed to work, deciding to focus on getting as much done as you can for the chance to get off early tomorrow. There was still some editing to do and preparations to check over for a Christmas special that would be live.
As you entered the office, you noticed everyone seemed to be wearing some Christmas attire. Minor was walking around in a Santa hat, Anna had ornament earrings, and both Willow and Kiki had traded their usual tops for some of the ugliest Christmas sweaters you had ever seen. You felt your mood lift a little and reaffirmed your determination to work hard.
As the day passed, you fully immersed yourself in your work, almost forgetting any sadness until your workday was over. You said goodbye to everyone and wished some of them a Merry Christmas in advance. Most of them wouldn't be here tomorrow. You had arranged everything so that only the bare minimum amount of staff needed to come in for the shoot tomorrow. You'd have Christmas eve off to briefly recover from the holiday rush, but until then, you knew that you needed to work hard.
You made your way home, silently hoping that Gavin would be there to greet you. You slowly made your way through the city, taking in all the lights and decorations. While you wanted to arrive him quickly for the chance to see Gavin, a part of you felt inclined to walk as slowly as possible to delay the disappointment of not finding him there.
Eventually, you arrive at your apartment. Opening the door, you immediately looked for Gavin's shoes, only to be disappointed when nothing was there. You ate dinner and went through your nighttime routine before going to bed, falling asleep with the hopes of seeing Gavin when you woke up.
In the early hours of the morning, you were stirred awake by the bed moving. Rolling over and cracking your eyes open, you squinted in the direction of the movement with sleep clouded eyes.
"Sorry, did I wake you?" Gavin quietly asked as he climbed into bed.
"It's okay. I wanted to see you," You assured Gavin, your voice groggy. You shuffled closer to him, wanting to bask in his warmth. Usually, when Gavin returned late he merely laid beside you, not wanting to touch you in fear of waking you from your slumber. Tonight, Gavin took advantage of you already being awake; He reached out for you and pulled you into his chest, his arms clasped firmly around you. You released a content sigh and instantly felt more relaxed.
"Will you be back early tomorrow?" You asked hopefully, your sleepiness allowing you to be completely honest with your feelings. You felt Gavin tense, and he was silent for a few seconds before answering.
"I'll try my best," He assured you, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head as sleep overtook you once again.
Christmas Day
When you woke up, you already knew the apartment was going to be empty. Attempting to delay the inevitable as long as possible, you stayed in bed for a while hugging Gavin's pillow; it still smelt like him and offered you a bit of comfort. Eventually, you got out of bed, got ready, and headed into the office for what you hoped to be a short day at work.
You greeted the small amount of staff in the office and immediately got to work. The live shoot today was easy and only ran for half an hour. The only benefit of live shoots is that there were no retakes to prolong the shoot. You hoped that if you got everything else done before the shoot, you could go home immediately after. Filled with determination, you finished all your additional work as fast as possible and headed to the set.
Luckily, the shoot went smoothly. While everyone seemed tired, there was also a sense of relief in the air as you all packed up. As you put the last pieces of equipment away, you could practically feel everyone's excitement, unable to hide their anticipation to head home and spend the rest of the day with their loved ones. Everyone said their goodbyes happily and headed home one by one until you were the only one left. You gathered your belongings and started to head home as well. You strolled through the city, hoping once again that Gavin would be waiting for you.
When you arrived home, the first thing you did was check for Gavin's shoes. Seeing them absent, you couldn't stop the sad sigh that left you. You took your shoes off and trudged your way into the apartment. Despite your sadness, you still felt the need to be prepared just in case Gavin did come.
You retrieved Gavin's gift from its hiding spot and placed it on the table before going into the kitchen. Putting on your apron, you started to prepare a meal for yourself and hopefully Gavin. Once you finished cooking, you plated a serving for yourself and put the leftovers away. You wrote a note for Gavin about the food before you forgot and went to eat on the couch. Switching on the TV to a random Christmas program, you zoned out as you ate your food. The jolliness of the program helped lift your mood, but it wasn't enough to completely dispel your sadness. You ended up watching TV long after you had finished your food. Eventually, the exhaustion of the week caught up with you, and you found yourself struggling to keep your eyes open until you finally succumbed to sleep.
You woke up to the sound of the window opening. Gavin climbed through, trying his best to be quiet before realising you were awake. Disregarding how much sound he was making allowed Gavin to move faster, and he quickly approached you. Gavin knelt in front of you and looked up into your barely awake eyes. He picked up one of your hands and brought it to his lips, pressing a kiss into your palm.
"I'm sorry I'm late," Gavin apologised before letting go of your hand and starting to get up. Knowing you were still half asleep, he gently lifted you and carried you to the bed. Gavin gently tucked you in and placed a chaste kiss on your forehead. Gavin stripped himself of his jacket and jeans before joining you and pulling you towards him. "Merry Christmas, MC." You heard him say into your hair before succumbing to sleep once again.
Belated Christmas Day
When you woke up, you felt a wave of happiness upon realising you were still in Gavin's arms. You pulled yourself impossibly closer to him, feeling the most content you had in weeks. Stirred by your movement, you heard Gavin groan as he slowly awoke from his slumber.
"Good morning," He said groggily. You returned the greeting before turning your head to place a kiss on his jawline. He returned the favour by kissing the crown of your head and pulling you tightly against him. You both laid in comfortable silence for a few moments before he spoke again. "I got you a present," Gavin stated, his voice sounding excited but nervous.
"So did I," You replied into his chest. You were excited to give him your gift and receive yours, but you also wanted to stay in Gavin's arms for as long as you could.
"I saw, but I wanted to open them together," Gavin said before starting to move to get up. He pulled you along with him until you were seated on the couch next to the coffee table you had placed his gift on yesterday. Gavin's gift had been joined by another gift of a similar size, neatly placed there while you were sleeping.
"You first," You insisted, grabbing the gift you brought Gavin and holding it out to him. Gavin smiled at you as he took the gift and gently started unwrapping it. He quickly realised what it was and his smile widened, he opened the box and carefully took the watch out moving to put it on. You reached out to put it on for him, he conceded, letting you completely take over. You finished putting it on and were about to pull your hands away when Gavin grasped them. "Thank you. I love it," He told you sincerely and squeezed your hands before letting go. "It's your turn," He grabbed your gift and hesitated for a second before holding it out to you.
Taking the gift from his hands, you unwrapped it to find a cardboard box. Once you opened the box, the first thing you saw was a jewellery box. You took the box out and opened it to reveal a necklace. It was shaped like a ginkgo leaf and clearly made to match the bracelet Gavin gave you when you first reunited. You were unable to stop the smile that spread across your face as you looked at the necklace and then Gavin. You were about to thank him when he cut you off to tell you there's still more, directing a pointed glance at the cardboard box you had placed back on the table. As you grabbed the box, you heard a distinct jingle. Looking inside, you pulled out a pair of what looked like house keys.
"I got us a place, so we can finally move in together," Gavin told you before you could say anything. He seemed nervous, but any nerves he had disappeared when you excitedly threw yourself into his arms. He hugged you back as you practically bounced with excitement.
"Can we go see it?" You asked him with your arms still wrapped around his torso. "Tomorrow, today we should enjoy the rest of our time here and celebrate," Gavin replied. You thanked Gavin for both gifts, and he squeezed you closer in reply before pulling away.
"Merry Christmas again, MC," Gavin said before giving you a chaste kiss on the lips.
"Merry Christmas, Gavin," You replied as soon as his lips left yours and then kissed him again in return.
You spent the rest of the day relaxing and enjoying each others company. While no more Christmas programs were playing on TV, that didn't stop you from streaming a bunch of Christmas movies yourselves while drowning yourselves in food. As long as you got to celebrate with Gavin, the date didn't make a difference. You enjoyed what would be one of your last nights in your current apartment, knowing that your future living together would be even more joyous.

Homemade Pudding - Father!Victor
Tumblr media
"Wake up, wake up! It's daddy's birthday!"
You woke up to the small hand of your daughter, Irene, poking your cheek as her loud voice filled the room. You tiredly opened your eyes and immediately met your daughters. Her purple eyes, identical to her fathers, were brimming with excitement as she practically bounced in the place where she was standing next to your bed. "Daddy's coming back today, right?" Irene asked you with hopeful expectation. Victor had been away on a business trip for two weeks, but he had promised to be back before his birthday ended.
"Yes, he's coming back today. But he won't be here until nighttime, what time is it?" You asked as you sat up, still rubbing the sleep from your eyes. Pudding stirred in his sleep next to you when you moved, slowly waking up as well and stretching.
"It's 5 AM" Irene answered enthusiastically causing you to groan. At times you wished she took after you more than Victor, your daughter clearly didn't understand the wonders of sleeping in. You let yourself be pulled out of bed as Irene tugged on your hand, forcing you to get up. She pushed you into the bathroom to get ready before closing the door and leaving to the kitchen, declaring that she'd feed Pudding his breakfast while you freshen up.
As you went through your morning routine, you mentally planned the rest of the day in your head. Since it was Victor's birthday, you wanted everything to be perfect, especially since you couldn't spend the entire day with him. You had always had trouble deciding what to do for Victor's birthday; what were you supposed to do for the man who had everything? But ever since you had Irene 5 years ago, planning his birthday had become much simpler.
To the outside world, Victor seemed like a strict father. While Victor was strict, he was also completely smitten with his daughter. Ever since her birth, you had traded fancy birthday outings for family time together at home. Last year you had taught Irene how to play 'Happy Birthday' on the piano so she could sing and perform it for him with you, and this year you were planning to make pudding together. Victor had made his pudding for the both of you countless times. Just like you, Victor's pudding was by far Irene's favourite food. It only seemed right that the pair of you made pudding for him today, returning the favour after he had made it for you so many times.
After finishing your morning routine, you left the bathroom and made your way to the kitchen to join your daughter. You walked in to find Irene already pulling out the ingredients needed to make pudding, her excitement clear as she quickly moved around the kitchen. As soon as Irene noticed your presence she came over to you, grabbing your hand once again and enthusiastically pulling you into the kitchen. "We don't need to start cooking yet. It's still so early." You assured your daughter, though you knew it was futile.
"We won't get it right the first time. We need to start as soon as possible." Your daughter shot back, clearly intent on starting now despite the time. Your pride stung at her insistence that you would mess up, but you knew she was probably right. Defeated, you agreed to start making the pudding, determined to make it perfect for Victor.
"At least eat some breakfast first," You insisted, pulling out some bread and placing it in the toaster. Irene pouted but obeyed, seating herself on a stool at the kitchen island and waiting. As you waited for the toast, you unlocked your phone to open the pudding recipe. You had secretly gotten Victor's pudding recipe from Mr Mills, but it only had the ingredient measurements, not the instructions. You relied on the internet and the countless times you'd watched Victor make pudding to fill in the blanks, desperately hoping you could get it right.
After both of you had eaten breakfast, you got to work. You tied an apron around your waist and helped Irene with her smaller matching apron before turning back to the pudding ingredients, both of you filled with determination. Irene handed you the ingredients as you followed the instructions you found online as closely as possible, knowing the slightest mistake could ruin everything. Still, when the pudding was done you knew it didn't smell or look right.
"What went wrong?" Irene asked with a pout, staring at the failed pudding with disappointment. However, she only let herself be disappointed for a few seconds before she was once again enthusiastic. "Let's try again!" She insisted, already moving to hand you the ingredients again.
After another failed attempt Irene's pout returned, her shoulders slightly slumped in defeat. This time you had to be the one to insist on a reattempt, encouraging your daughter to hand you ingredients once again for your third, and hopefully final, attempt. You found different instructions to follow, hoping this one would suit Victor's recipe better.
"We did it!" Irene shouted excitedly as you poured the pudding mixture into the dessert cups. The familiar smell of pudding wafted through the kitchen, pleasing your senses and making you miss Victor even more. You put the pudding in the fridge to cool before moving on to decorate the house. You had made decorations with Irene yesterday, and you only had to put them up before the house would be completely ready for Victor's return. Irene put on a party had and insisted you do the same, pulling you down to her level so she could place it on your head.
You finished putting up the decorations as Irene followed Pudding around the house, attempting to put a party hat on his head as well despite the cat's disinterest. Once you were done you sauntered over to the living room and flopped onto the couch, letting exhaustion take over you after being woken up so early. Eventually, Irene gave up on Pudding's party hat and joined you, turning on the TV before sitting beside you and cuddling up to your side.
You felt like sleep was about to take over you when suddenly you heard the front door unlocking. Before you could react, Irene was ahead of you already running to the front door. You followed behind her, excited to see Victor after what felt like way too long.
"Happy birthday daddy!" You heard Irene shout excitedly as you arrived at the front door. You smiled fondly as you watched the pair of them; Irene had leapt into Victor's arms as soon as she was able, and he had instinctively hoisted her up so he could carry her comfortably.
"Thank you, princess," Victor replied softly, kissing Irene's forehead before hugging her tightly. He looked over to you as your daughter hugged his neck, his gaze tender and longing. You closed the distance between you, leaning in to give peck his cheek before pulling back and staring into Victor's eyes.
"Happy birthday," You said, unable to tear your gaze away from his. Instead of replying verbally, Victor leaned over, your daughter still in his arms, and placed a chaste kiss on your lips.
"We made pudding!" Irene declared, before struggling out of her father's arms and dashing to the kitchen. Usually, Victor would have called out to her to remind her not to run inside, but he seemed to have completely forgotten to do so as his gaze focused solely on you.
"I missed you," Victor declared, softly pulling you into his firm arms. You instinctively hugged him back, basking in presence, you felt like every bit of pent up stress and worry you had left your body.
"I missed you too." You mumbled against Victor's chest, unwilling to move from the comfort of his embrace. You felt his him nuzzle into your hair before he pulled back slightly to leave a soft kiss on your neck. His lips moved upwards, planting a soft trail of kisses up your neck towards your jaw. He sucked on your jaw lightly, though not enough to make a mark, before his lips were finally hovering in-front of yours. His eyes opened to stare into yours, gazing into your eyes intensely halting you in your place. He tightened his grip on your waist tightened before he finally pressed his lips against yours. You let out a breath you didn't even know you were holding, completely relaxing into the kiss you missed so much for the last two weeks. You felt one of Victor's hands leave your waist, entangling itself in your hair as he pulled you impossibly closer.
"Daddy! Come look at the pudding!" Irene's called loudly from the kitchen, forcing both you and Victor out of your trance. Victor interlaced your hands lead you to the kitchen where your daughter was waiting. Irene had already pulled the finished puddings out of the fridge and placed them on the counter. Irene looked at Victor with a giant grin on her face, her eyes full of expectation as she waited for his reaction.
Victor smiled back, his hand still interlaced with yours as he walked towards the pudding. Irene impatiently shoved a spoon into Victor's free hand, bouncing in place as she waiting for her father to try the pudding. Victor took a scoop of the soft dessert, bringing it to his lips teasingly slow as he stared at his daughter.
"Daddy, please just try it already!" Irene whined, attempting to reach up and push the spoon into Victor's mouth quicker but she was too short to reach. Victor chuckled before finally eating the pudding in silence. Both you and Irene looked at him expectingly, nervous about the taste as you hadn't taste-tested it.
"It's delicious," Victor assured the both of you before taking another bite. You let out a sigh of relief and Irene cheered proudly before enthusiastically hugging Victor's hip.
"Happy birthday!" Irene excitedly said again before pulling away from the hug and grabbing a pudding cup for herself. She sat down and started eating, immediately becoming absorbed by the delicious taste, ignoring everything else around her. You approached Victor while your daughter was distracted, taking the chance to kiss him on the cheek. Putting his pudding down, Victor wrapped an arm around your waist and left a tender kiss on your temple.
"Happy birthday Victor," You said once again, tugging slightly on his tie to maneuver him so you could leave a chaste kiss on his lips.

Amazing. Unparalleled. Never seen before. A fic so soft but so powerful it could destroy all my fics combined in a fight. So powerful it crashed my tumblr twice while I was trying to read it and I’m trying not to cry in the car.
Everything was so soft and beautifully described 🥺❤️. I also love that Eli was included, and Gavin glaring at him whenever he complimented MC aidjwjbd. This is beautiful Play, and I’m gonna reread it so many times 😭❤️. Everything about it is perfect.
Moving in together.
Gavin x you. (F!You)
Words: 7,045.
Warnings: one paragraph might be slightly suggestive, but it’s just a kiss.
Genre: fluff.
Notes: this is my secret santa gift to the wonderful @ginkgowritings! I hope you liked it! ❤
Beta read by kick ass Quiche! Thank you so much! ❤ She’s amazing, trust me.

With louver shutters inadvertently left open, daylight streamed through the windows, casting a tinged glow against your eyelids and rousing you from your sleep. Squinting, a groan of frustration escaped you and with a dazed mind, you turned to look at the alarm, realizing that it was close to seven in the morning. Groaning, yet again, you shifted to your side, heaving your pillow over your head. Having worked overtime six days in a row, today was your one day off and you refused to wake up early. You wanted to enjoy it and sleeping in was a huge part of that. A determined huff escaped your lips as you snuggled deeper into the mattress, closing your eyes. You tried cleansing your mind off of everything except sleeping but the birds chirping brightly successfully foiled your plans.
Rolling over to your other side, you continued keeping your eyes closed, rebuffing the idea of letting an early day win over you. Dragging your comforter over your head, you poked your nose out to breathe and laid like that for a while, curled into a ball. Listening to your own breathing, you knew defeat was imminent and it made you grumpy. With a sigh, your hand stretched out from under your shelter, tips of your fingers skimming the cold fabric of the pillow adjacent to yours. Tugging your blanket down with a gentle move, you watched the empty space beside you.
Having always deemed the queen-sized bed too small, with you tossing around in your sleep, it suddenly felt enormous. Gavin hadn’t returned last night. Five days ago he called, informing you that he would be later than expected and to your impatient self, “later than expected”, had unexplainably meant that he would return last night. You had been so certain about your wistful prediction, that when left unfulfilled, disappointment crossed your heart like a shadow. You missed him immensely and never slept as soundly as when you laid in his warm embrace, his fingers sifting through your hair as his clean scent calmingly enveloped you.
Humming gently at the thought, recollection of when you last saw him, came to you like a vivid dream;

You had become fascinated by the man living in the apartment next door. You could tell he was dangerous, but your curiosity got the better of you, and you found yourself looking forward to any encounters with him. Neighbour - Mafia AU! Helios
My loveland cuties secret santa gift for the amazing @otomecooties. A fluffy mafia AU because I’m not giving her angst for secret santa.
Tumblr media
You had become fascinated by the man living in the apartment next door. You could tell he was dangerous, but your curiosity got the better of you, and you found yourself looking forward to any encounters with him. Despite encountering him regularly, he had refused to tell you anything about himself besides his name, Helios. He hadn't told you, but you knew he was dangerous. The way Helios dressed, how he regularly came home with new scrapes and bandages, and the occasional blood splatter visible on his clothes all gave it away. Still, you found yourself looking forward to your encounters with him, no matter how quick and fleeting they were.
Your first encounter with Helios had been the longest, and the most awkward. The landlord had notified you that someone was moving in that day, but hadn't told you anything else. When you got home that day to see a handsome silver-haired man waiting for the elevator, you hoped it was your new neighbour, and you were overjoyed when your hopes came true. He had made a point to ignore you the entire elevator ride, only acknowledging your existence when he realised you lived next door and he'd have to see you often. As you stood at the entrance of your respective apartments, his cold eyes met yours. He uttered his name, Helios, before immediately going inside and closing the door behind him.
After your first meeting, every encounter seemed shorter than the last. You regularly ran into each other as you both left in the mornings, but no matter how many times you exchanged pleasantries, he never shared anything about himself. His eyes were always cold, and he seemed to end every conversation as soon as he could. Still, you enjoyed every brief encounter and found yourself fascinated by him.
It had been two months since Helios had become your neighbour. Subconsciously, you had familiarised yourself with his schedule. You hadn't done so deliberately, but the buildings soundproofing was almost non-existent meaning you heard every time he came home or left. Helios left early in the morning and usually returned late at night. You weren't sure if he ever got a good nights sleep or ate properly. You'd seen him carrying his groceries home before, the seethrough bags revealing an overwhelming amount of instant food and surprisingly, sweets.
Lately, Helios had started to look thinner, his complexion was dull, and he always looked tired. You knew he didn't want you to interfere with his life, but you couldn't stop yourself from being worried. There weren't many ways you could help, and you weren't sure if Helios would even accept your help. Still, you were determined to help him in the easiest way you could think of fixing his terrible diet. Helios likely wouldn't accept your help so you had a foolproof you were sure would work eventually: annoy him until he gives in.
Determined to make your strategy work, you woke up earlier than usual to make breakfast for both yourself and Helios. After preparing two servings of a healthy breakfast, you quickly ate yours before packing the other serving into some tupperware. You braced yourself before making your way to the front door of Helios' apartment, nervous but determined to succeed. You knocked on his door and waited, only to be met with silence. After a few moments, you tried again.
"Helios! I made extra food. Do you want it?" You called through the door while knocking. You listened carefully, hoping to hear him coming and smiled to yourself when you heard his footsteps approaching the door. Helios opened the door, his icy eyes immediately meeting yours and hardening into a glare.
"Why would I want your food?" Helios asked, annoyance clear in his tone. "Because you only seem to eat instant food and your diet sucks" You instinctively retorted without thinking, only realising retorting might've been a bad idea when his glare got even more intense. Helios glared at you for a few moments without responding before huffing to himself and closing the door in your face, the food meant for him still in your hands. Knowing he wouldn't open the door again, you went back to your apartment. Helios was a difficult person, and you knew him accepting your food on the first try would be unlikely. You ate his breakfast for lunch and fought off your disappointment, determined to try again tomorrow.
And so you did. The next day you made Helios breakfast again and brought it to his front door. You took a deep breath and calmed yourself before knocking, calling out to him to let him know why you were there.
"Hey, Helios! I've made breakfast again, will you have some?" You called though the door. After a few seconds of silence, the door abruptly opened, revealing a glaring Helios. "Are you going to do this every morning?" He asked you. You nodded in response making him sigh, unsure what to do in this situation. "You should mind your own business, little lady." Helios scolded you, his icy glare piercing into you. "I'm taller than you, little man." You teased back before you could stop yourself. You noticed Helios' eyes widen, the coldness replaced with surprise. He wasn't used to people talking back to him; most people were too scared. Before Helios could recover from his shock and close the door on you again, you quickly shoved the food into his hands and turned to walk away before he could return it. "Leave the empty container in front of the door. I'll collect it later!" You called back to him as you quickly made your way back to your apartment, refusing to look at him as you walked so you wouldn't see his annoyance.
As soon as you were inside, you let out a breath you hadn't realised you were holding and felt yourself relax. Feeling happy you managed to give Helios the food you went on with your day, already thinking about what you could make Helios for breakfast tomorrow. Later in the afternoon, you heard a quiet knock at your front door. You opened the door and found no one there. You thought you misheard before you looked down and saw the empty tupperware on the ground. Every last crumb of food had been eaten, and it looked like Helios had cleaned the container before returning it. You smiled to yourself as you picked it up, already looking forward to seeing Helios again tomorrow.
The routine of making Helios breakfast continued every day, and you found yourself looking forward to it more and more. Helios had slowly warmed up to you, the iciness in his eyes now replaced with a tenderness you never thought he'd show you. He'd also become more willing to make conversation. Both of you now talked to each other for several minutes when you came to give him food, and he no longer immediately left after leaving the tupperware at your door.
It had been over a month since you started making Helios breakfast, and he already looked healthier. You had already successfully given him his breakfast this morning, and you were going about your day when you heard him entering his apartment. Helios was usually out all day so his early return surprised you, but you decided to take advantage of it and use him as an excuse to make cookies. Knowing Helios has a sweet tooth you were excited to share them with him, even though you knew he'd try to hide any excitement. Happily humming to yourself you started making the cookie dough, messily mixing the ingredients until you got to the sugar. As soon as you pulled out the sugar, you knew you didn't have enough. You considered going to the store when you realised Helios likely had some sugar. Though Helios didn't cook his sweet tooth made you sure he'd still have sugar, even if only to add to his coffee. You put your shoes on and made your way to Helios' door, confidently knocking as soon as you arrived.
"Helios, do you have any sugar?" You asked through the door before he even opened it, fully knowing he was inside and could hear you. You heard quick footsteps before the door yanked open, revealing a wide-eyed Helios. "You shouldn't be here, little lady. It's dangerous right now." Helios warned you in a hushed whisper, an uncharacteristic panic in his eyes. As soon as you heard his warning, you realised Helios wasn't alone. Inside his apartment, you could see several men, each one looking more intimidating and dangerous than the last. They were clearly in the same profession as Helios, but while you felt at ease in Helios' presence all the other men you could see made a shiver run down your spine. Helios positioned himself so he was blocking the doorway, seemingly trying to block both your view and theirs as their prying eyes tried to get a glimpse at you. You tried to hide your nervousness as you looked at Helios, attempting to only focus on him to calm yourself down. "Do you have any sugar? I'm making cookies." You managed to ask him, your voice quiet in an attempt to stop the men inside from hearing. "I'll bring it to you later. You need to leave." Helios whispered before softly closing the door.
You went back to your apartment to wait for Helios. As the realisation that you had likely just walked into a mafia meeting washed over you, you felt yourself become overwhelmed with anxiety. Trying your best to distract yourself, you stayed occupied as much as you could. You tried reading, writing, playing games, and watching movies, but no matter what you did anxiety stopped you from fully focusing on it. After several hours you jumped when you suddenly heard a knock at the door. You quickly got up and nervously made your way to the door, you hesitated for a few moments before opening it to reveal Helios with a large bag of sugar in his hands. Initially, Helios looked a little mad, but his expression immediately softened when he picked up on your nervous state.
"Are you okay?" Helios asked you tenderly, his voice uncharacteristically soft. You nodded before stepping aside to let him in, leading him into your apartment. Usually, he'd hand you the sugar and come back when the cookies were done, but he knew you wanted some familiar company right now. Helios followed you to the kitchen and sat down on a stool. His eyes were drawn to the kitchen counter, where you had previously made a mess while making the cookies. A slight smirk tugged at his lips and you knew he was about to make fun of you.
"Say anything rude, and you get no cookies." You cut him off before he could make any snide remarks, but that only caused his smirk to widen. "I don't care if I don't get any cookies." Helios immediately retorted. "I've seen how many sweets you buy, you definitely care." You replied while grabbing the sugar and picking up where you left off earlier in the day. You felt Helios' eyes on you, but neither of you said anything, instead choosing to bask in the comfortable silence. Once the cookies were finally in the oven, you made your way to the living room and let yourself collapse onto the couch. After a few moments, you heard quiet footsteps as Helios approached you. He silently sat next to you on the couch, staring intently at you in silence before finally deciding to speak.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked, his voice uncharacteristically soft once again. You locked eyes with him and nodded in response. While you knew you shouldn't have walked in on that meeting, being in Helios' presence now had drastically eased your anxiety. You knew he was just as dangerous as those other men, but you believed he wouldn't hurt you. "I'll give you my number, and you can text me before you come over next time. It's dangerous for you to come over unexpectedly." Helios insisted, already holding his hand out for your phone. You unlocked your phone and handed it to him; though you weren't getting his number in the best circumstances, the prospect still excited you. He gave your phone back as soon as he finished and you found yourself staring at his name in your contacts, barely able to believe he had given you his number.
"Why did you even start making food for me?" Helios asked you curiously, breaking your trance. "You looked like shit." You replied bluntly, all your previous anxiety now gone. "You know, the last person that talked like that to me is at the bottom of a lake," Helios warned you. You knew he could be telling the truth, but there was no malice in his voice, and you couldn't bring yourself to be afraid of him anymore. "You wouldn't hurt me," The words had left your mouth before you even realised what you were saying. You expected Helios to disagree and warn you, but you were surprised when he just released a soft sigh. "Yeah, I wouldn't," Helios said softly, to the point where you could barely hear it. You felt your heart pound at his words, unsure what to say in response. You both stared intently at each other in silence, neither of you sure what to say next. Suddenly, a smoky smell wafted through the living room making your stomach drop.
"I think your cookies are burning, little lady," Helios teased, a smirk returning to his face. "I'm still taller than you little man!" You yelled as you rushed to the kitchen to retrieve the cookies, a smirking Helios right on your tail. You hoped the cookies were salvageable, but even if they weren't you were still happy. You were sure you'd have many more chances to make cookies with Helios in the future.

Note
What should we do if we're interested in the secret santa, but don't have a tumblr? Could we submit it to you?
That wouldn’t work very well ;-; especially if multiple people without Tumblr signed up it’d be hard for me to contact you with your partners' details, and it’d also be inconvenient for whoever is creating your gift. If you want to sign up it’d be better to just make a Tumblr account even if the secret santa is all you use it for, or hope there’s an MLQC secret santa on a platform you’re active on.

MLQC Secret Santa
Tumblr media
Hello everyone~ I haven’t seen one floating around yet so I’ve decided to organise a tumblr MLQC secret santa! If you want to join all you need to do is follow all the rules and correctly fill out the sign-up form that’ll be linked later in the post.
About
If you’ve never heard of secret santa, it’s where a group of people arrange to give gifts to eachother either by random draw or being specfically paired with someone by an organiser. Since it’s a secret, you’re not supposed to know who is giving you a gift until they give it to you making it hard to know what to expect!
If you sign-up for this secret santa you wlill be given your partners details in early December, giving you ample time to create a gift for your partner. If you do not receive a message by the 5th of December please message me as there was probably something wrong with your application / your application didn’t go through.
This is a digital and themed secret santa, so all the gifts will be online MLQC creations that can be posted on tumblr. You can create MLQC fanfiction, edits, fanart, and basically anything else you can think of for a gift. All gifts wlll be posted on the 25th of December with the tag #MLQCSanta20 and the receiver tagged in the post so they know it’s for them. While tagging the receiver is most important, please make sure to use the event tag too so everyone can easily go through it and see eachother’s creations.
Rules
1. Unless you are following me, please set your messages so people you aren’t following are able to message you. I’d really rather not have people follow me for secret santa only to unfollow afterwards, so I’d much prefer if you did this.
2. Fill out the sign-up form correctly. I’d highly recommend rereading it before you submit just incase. If you think something might’ve gone wrong with your applicaton please message me as soon as possible and I will check for you.
3. Once you receive your secret santa partners details do not contact them about secret santa. Secret santa is supposed to be a secret! If you have anything you’d like to ask them please tell me and I’ll ask them for you. I’m a humble secret santa messenger 💌.
4. If you can no longer participate in secret santa please message me BEFORE the 25th of December. If I don’t know in advance it’s hard to create or arrange for a gift to be created for your partner.
5. Please post your gifts on the 25th of December and tag the receiver so they know. If you aren’t available on the 25th, please cue your post in advance so the receiver can still get it in time.
If you agree to all the rules above and you’d like to participate please fill out the sign-up form. I look forward to assigning you a partner ♡.
Sign-up Deadlne: 30th of November, 11:59 PM American Samoa Time.
