Chishiya - Proud
English is not my first language!
Synopsis: After scoring 100% in his examen, Chishiya goes out to get a coffee at his typical café around the corner. But how was he supposed to know that someone other than him would be proud of his achievement?
„Have a nice evening.“ Akemi smiled at the couple as they walked out of the small café, being the last customers. She would close up in fifteen minutes, but maybe she could finish a little earlier today.
This café was once owned by her grandparents, afterwards her mother took over it. And ever since Akemi finished business school, she took over, her mother still helping her whenever she had questions.
The girl walked over to the table, grabbing the two empty cups and bringing them to the scullery. Her employee had gone home half an hour ago since it was a quiet evening. She placed them on the small tray before pushing it inside the dishwasher.
Afterwards she walked back out, wiping over the table before going back and counting the cash register. But just as she thought about closing up completely and cleaning the coffee machine, the doorbell rung, making her sigh silently before putting on a smile.
„Oh, hi Chishiya.“ Akemi greeted the white-haired guy as he slowly walked inside, looking around.
He was a regular customer, coming over almost every day and even though they weren’t exactly friends, Akemi liked him, having talked to him quite often.
„Is it too late to order?“ He asked, his hands tugged in the pocket of his jacket as he walked towards the counter.
„No of course not.“ She smiled, „To-go or do you wanna sit down?“
Chishiya thought about it for a second, before nodding towards his usual table. „I’ll sit down.“ He decided, making her nod.
„All right, you want the usual?“ She asked, making him nod before walking away, sitting down on the table and pulling his phone out.
Akemi went to the coffee machine, putting a cup under it before pressing onto the cappuccino, preparing a saucer with sugar and a cookie. It took a few seconds until the cup was filled, causing her to place it down on the saucer and bring it over to the man.
„Here you go.“ Akemi smiled, placing it down on the table. „How was your exam?“ She asked, remembering that he had told her about this difficult oral exam he needed to pass in order to finish his semester.
Chishiya raised his eyebrows, almost surprised, before shrugging. „Good.“ He answered, looking up at her. „Got an A.“
„Seriously?“ Akemi smiled at him widely, „Chishiya, that’s amazing!“ She grinned, making him hum and nod his head. „Seriously, I’m proud of you, you deserve it. Congratulations.“ She told him before turning around and walking back to the counter, continuing to clean it.
Chishiya stared at her almost confused, lifting an eyebrow. Why on earth would she be proud of something he did? It was understandable that he was proud of himself. He studied a lot and even though he expected nothing less than an A, he was still happy of the outcome. But Akemi? It’s not her accomplishment, so why would she be proud of him?
„Here,“ Akemi suddenly came back towards his table, placing a piece of cheesecake down in front of him, „I know it’s your favourite. It’s on the house as a… celebration gift for your achievement as well as your finished semester.“ She smiled.
„Thank you.“ Chishiya sent her the tiniest small, „What did you mean as you said you’re proud of me?“ She asked, tilting his head to the side.
He knew he was a really smart person, probably smarter than a lot of others. But when it came to human emotions? It was difficult, people often said one thing but meant another. They often put on a mask and while he easily managed to understand certain intentions people had, especially the selfish once, he didn’t understand why someone would be proud of something that’s not their accomplishment.
Akemi raised her eyebrows, grinning at him slightly. „I know how much you studied for that exam, and you once told me how good you did on all the others. You deserve a good grade. You’ve put so much work in this, so I’m proud of you, at what you managed to succeed.“ She explained, making him nod slowly.
„Okay.“ He just nodded, making her chuckle before walking away again, now disappearing in the scullery in the back, getting the dishes out of the machine.
She continued cleaning, deciding she’d let Chishiya’s cup and plate stay in the sink and clean it tomorrow as she now turned the light off in the back, walking towards the counter, now cleaning the coffee machine.
„Did you buy this café?“ Chishiya suddenly asked, causing her to shrug together as she hasn’t heard him coming closer, causing her to glance over her shoulder at him.
He had placed his empty cup and plate on the counter, as he was now leaned against it, looking at her curiously.
„No, my grandparents opened it fifty years ago.“ She explained, „My mom took over, and after I finished business school I took over.“ She smiled as she now wiped over the surface of the coffee machine, cleaning it from the water spots.
„Ah.“ Chishiya hummed, watching her cleaning. „Did you always plan on working there?“
Akemi looked at him surprised since he usually never seemed interested in her life, but she didn’t complain as she liked talking to him. Even if he was sometimes a little too condescending.
„No, I actually wanted to become a psychologist.“ She explained, shrugging her shoulders. „But then my mom would’ve needed to sell this place to someone else and the thought of loosing this café after it had been founded by my grandparents…“ Akemi stopped, shaking her head. „So, I decided for business school and took over.“
„Psychologist?“ Chishiya repeated amused, scoffing slightly. „It’s better you didn’t become one. They’re not real doctors, I think it’s an overrated job.“ He hummed, making Akemi roll her eyes but grin slightly.
„Of course you’d think that.“ She chuckled, „But yes, I’m glad, I love this job and this café. It was the right choice.“ She answered, „What about you, why did you want to be a doctor?“
To that, he stayed silent for a few seconds, shrugging his shoulders slightly. „My parents are both doctors and wanted me to become one as well, so I guess I just never thought about doing something else.“ He hummed, not wanting to admit the other reason, that he wanted to see if he’d care about humans this way since he never did before. The question is, why didn’t he want to admit it? He wasn’t sure himself.
„If you could choose any job, no matter what or how unrealistic it would be, which one would you choose?“ Akemi asked curiously, as she now grabbed the dirty dishes, placing them on the counter in the back.
Chishiya raised his eyebrows, looking at her skeptical. Why would the think about a theoretical job? „I like being a doctor.“ He shrugged, causing her to scoff but grin.
„All right, good to see you used your imagination.“ She chuckled, making him hum.
„What about you?“ He asked as she now finished cleaning everything.
„I think I’d be an astronaut.“ Akemi grinned and for the first time he heard him laugh slightly.
„An astronaut?“ He asked, raising his eyebrows. „Why?“
„Just imagine, being up there, looking down on the earth. The space is so big and there’s so much uncovered, it’s just… I feel so small when I think about everything that could be out there, we can’t even begin to understand how big the space really is. And being up there, seeing the stars closer, the earth from far away? I don’t know, it just has something so mystical but at the same time something so real.“ Akemi shrugged, grinning slightly. „It’s just fascinating to me.“
„Huh, I never thought about it like that.“ Chishiya looked at her surprised, before shrugging his shoulders. „I guess being an astronaut would be pretty cool.“
„He, you can’t change your answer, that’s mine.“ Akemi grinned, making him roll his eyes again.
„Don’t worry, I’d still prefer to be a doctor rather than an astronaut.“ He answered as she was now grabbing her keys. „Where do you live?“
„Just a couple of minutes from here, why?“ She asked as she now checked if she turned off everything, before turning off the lights in the back.
„I’ll bring you home.“ Chishiya decided, making her raise her eyebrows but grin. „It’s already dark outside.“
Akemi smirked as they now walked to the door as she turned out the main light, „Oh, you’re worried about me.“ She snickered, nudging him with her elbow as she now locked the front door.
„Shut up, I’m not.“ He scoffed, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
„Sure.“ She grinned sarcastically as they now walked down the dark street. Maybe they can become real friends and not just have their seller-buyer relationship. Akemi glanced up at him, noticing that he was already staring at her as she now smiled down on her feet, feeling a small blush coating her cheeks. Or maybe there could be even more.

Last Boss - A present
English is not my first language!
Synopsis: Last Boss has his eyes on a certain girl who’s been living at the Beach for a few weeks now. But how is he supposed to approach her? He had seen boys giving the girls they like flowers and chocolate in his old world. But in this world? He had to find something better.
Akemi was laying on one of the pool chairs next to her friends, enjoying the sun, while hearing the faint sounds of music coming from the inside of the hotel.
She had been in this strange world for a month now, having spend her last two weeks at the Beach. It was a nice place, but she also knew about the many dangers that were all around them. They often lead back to a certain group, the militants. The group were supposed to keep the peace at the Beach and make sure everyone was safe, sadly that wasn’t the case. They terrorized the people and took whatever they wanted, since no one was able to say anything against them.
But apart from them the Beach was a nice place, a place that provided electricity, working showers, even fun and friends. It was a place for the people who were all in the same situation. Having to fight for their lives every few days in brutal games just to be allowed to survive in this world for as long as their visa was. It was horrible, but the Beach offered distraction, which was happily welcomed.
„God, I wish he wasn’t a killer.“ Ikari, one of Akemi’s friends, sighed loudly as the others now followed her line of vision.
The militants just arrived at the pool area, led by none other than Niragi, the right hand of the militant’s leader. He was a known killer and rapist, a horrible person, someone you didn’t want to get too close to.
„He’s so hot.“ She continued, causing Akemi to turn her head towards her friend, staring at her unbelieving.
„Are you kidding me? You know how he is.“ She muttered, glancing back at the militants, just to catch Last Boss’ eyes.
She had never talked to the tattooed man, but she had played a game with him. It was difficult as they had to escape out of an old trailer park, with dangers hiding behind nearly every single trailer. They managed to get out of there together as a team. He had saved her life as she was nearly stumbling into a bear trap, therefore she had saved his life, stopping him from getting pierced by an arrow triggered by a trip hazard.
But ever since the game, they haven’t spoken one word with each other. Akemi wasn’t even sure if he was able to talk at all, she had yet never heard him say something. Therefore, he observed a lot, wherever she went, he was there a few minutes later. If she was in the disco room, dancing or drinking, he stood somewhere leaned against a wall, looking around while she felt his eyes on her more than once. If she was at the pool, he walked his rounds here or sat down at the pool bar. If she was in the dining hall, he was there too, grabbing himself something to eat. At first, she found it a little creepy, but by now she wasn’t bothered with it.
„I know, I know.“ Ikari answered with a loud sigh, „But it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s hot.“ She hummed, making Akemi raise her eyebrows before shaking her head.
„Whatever. I’m gonna go and get another round.“ She told her friends as she now got up, walking towards the pool bar. „Hi.“ She smiled at the man behind it, „Could I get four mojitos please?“ She asked, making him smile and nod his head as he now prepared the drinks.
Akemi sat down on one of the stools, hanging behind her thoughts while watching how he was getting four glasses out of a cabinet, filling them with cubes.
„Do you want,“ He began, turning towards her with a smile, but he quickly stopped in the middle of the sentence, widening his eyes slightly. „Uhm… Do you want mint leaves in the glasses?“ He asked now almost shyly, stumbling over his own words, which caused Akemi to raise her eyebrows confused. She sent him a short nod, causing him to quickly turn around again as he continued, while she now looked over her shoulders.
„Hey,“ She greeted the man who stood right behind her, staring at her with his typical, dead eyes. „You’re Last Boss, right?“ She asked after a second where he didn’t answer her, just continuing to stare at her. „We played the Six of Spades together, I don’t know if you remember…“ She continued as he still didn’t give her an answer.
This time, he at least nodded slowly, causing her to smile awkwardly as an uncomfortable silence spread between them. Why was he just staring at her without saying anything? What was wrong with him?
„Last Boss,“ Niragi now called out to him, glancing at Akemi dismissive for a second before focusing back on his friend. „Stop flirting! Come on, Aguni wants to talk to us.“
Flirting? Whatever this was, it wasn’t flirting, right?
Last Boss slowly nodded at his friend before focusing back on Akemi. And instead of saying something, anything, he just extended his hand. The girl raised her eyebrows confused as she held her hand out, feeling how something cold made contact with her palm, causing her to look down confused. Last Boss gave her a small white stone with black dots all over it, as it had a honey comb structure. It shined a little, almost as if he had tried to polish it a little.
„Thank you.“ Akemi whispered, not sure what this meant but to her surprise he had the smallest blush on his cheeks, „It’s really beautiful.“ She told him, making him almost squirm as he now nodded, before quickly turning around and practically bolting over to Niragi who just laughed at his friend.
Akemi continued glancing between his retreating figure and the small stone in her hand, but before she could make sense of it, her friends already rushed over towards her, surrounding her as they all stared at the thing in her hand.
„He gave you this?“ One of them asked, looking at her surprised. „A stone?“
„Yeah?“ Akemi sounded unsure, shaking her head. „I’ve got no idea why.“
„Oh my god,“ Ikari squealed slightly, grabbing Akemi’s shoulders. „He likes you!“

Karube - Our little family
English is not my first language!
Can be read as part 2 of First Kiss or as an own story.
synopsis: Akemi tells Karube about their latest mistake. But is it really a mistake or could it be something beautiful?
Akemi looked down at the small test in her hands.
Two stripes.
No. No, this was impossible. They were careful, they used condoms. This- this wasn’t supposed to happen. This couldn’t happen!
Yet here she sat, looking at different pregnancy tests she took, all having the same outcome: pregnant.
„Fuck!“ Akemi breathed, feeling tears burning in her eyes.
She wasn’t ready for a child. Sure, Karube and her had talked about kids and were on the same page. They wanted a few but not in the next years. Maybe when they were thirty but until then they still had seven years. Seven! Yet, here she sat with a couple pregnancy tests that told her what she already knew deep down.
She didn’t get her period which wasn’t unusual, however. It was often too late, sometimes even too early. But the weird cravings she had the last weeks as well as having put on a few pounds while her breasts felt so much more sensitive than usual. All these were clear signs for what she now had confirmed.
She was pregnant.
„Love, we’re home!“ Karube’s voice echoed through the small flat.
They were together for a little over a year, ever since she had moved to Tokyo and her cousin, Arisu, had introduced them. They weren’t living together yet, nor did they plan on moving together any time soon. Sure, they were happy together and it was serious between them, that didn’t mean they wanted to rush things though.
„I’m coming.“ Akemi shouted, breathing through as she quickly wiped over her eyes, collecting herself. She wrapped the pregnancy tests in toilet paper before hiding them in one of her drawers.
She splashed a little water in her face but that didn’t help the small red spots she had from crying earlier. So, she quickly grabbed a cover stick, hiding them behind a layer of make up. As she was happy with the result she finally unlocked the door and walked out towards the living area, seeing Karube, Arisu and Chota laying on her couch, food standing on the glass table in front of them.
„Hey boys.“ Akemi smiled at them, putting on her best act.
„Hey.“
„Hi.“
„Hello, love.“
They all gave their answers as she dropped down on the couch next to her boyfriend, grabbing a box with noodles and chopsticks. „Thanks for the food.“ She smiled as she now looked at the screen, seeing how they put on some lifestream of a gamer they all liked to watch.
„Thanks for always letting us stay over.“ Chota gave his typical answer, grinning at the girl as she just chuckled, before taking a bite from the food.
„How was your day?“ Karube asked, looking at her lovingly as he brushed his hand over hers before continuing to eat his food.
„Nothing special.“ Akemi hummed, even though this was a big fat lie. If it wasn’t special to find out you’re pregnant, then what is? „Yours?“ She asked, looking between the boys.
Arisu shrugged his shoulders, Chota gave her a thumbs up and Karube just hummed.
„Same like always.“ He answered, making her nod.
The boys followed the lifestream again while Akemi hung after her thoughts. What was happening now? Would Karube want to keep the child? Surely. She did too. Even though she was pro choice, she knew she couldn’t go through an abortion herself. Especially not when she had a rather secured job, a good flat and support from her family and friends. It wasn’t like a child wouldn’t fit in her life right now. Sure, she’d need a little more time to finish her study but the university was child-friendly and supported parents quite nicely. So, this wouldn’t be a problem. Yet, she still wasn’t feeling ready to be a mother. And what would Karube say? He’d surely would be an amazing father, but just when he was ready for it. Would he even wanna be involved? Would he maybe even break up with her? Arisu would beat the shit out of him if he’d really leave her while she was pregnant with his kid, even though it was his right to do so. After all they didn’t want a child just yet.
„Everything okay?“ Karube whispered, leaning a little further towards her as he eyed her closely. „You look distracted.“
„Oh, no, I’m fine.“ Akemi answered quickly. A little too quick. „Just a stressful day at uni, you know?“ She shrugged, making him hum slowly but nod his head.
„If you wanna talk about it I’m here.“ He smiled, grabbing her hand and giving it a small squeeze.
„I know, thank you.“ She looked at him before focusing back on her food as she finished it, placing the empty carton on the table.
„I’m gonna go outside.“ Karube decided as he now got up, pulling the cigarettes out of his pocket while looking at Akemi. „You coming?“ He asked, since they usually always went to smoke together.
But this was over now. She would never smoke while being pregnant. „No, I think I’ll pass right now.“ She answered, sending him a small smile.
Karube raised his eyebrows surprised but nodded, walking towards the balcony and closing the door behind him as Akemi sunk deeper into the cushions of the couch.
„You’re not gonna smoke?“ Airsu asked, looking at her almost amused. „You’re pregnant or something?“ He joked, causing her to widen her eyes for a second.
„What?“ She asked, quickly shaking her head. „No, of course not!“ She scoffed, clenching her fists at her unconvincing tone. God, she was a bad actress and an even worse liar.
„Huh?“ Chota leaned forward slightly so he could look at her past Arisu. „You’re acting weird.“
„I’m not…“ She stopped, swallowing heavily. „I’m not acting weird!“ She muttered, crossing her arms in front of her chest. „What is this, an interrogation? I just don’t want to smoke right now.“ She hissed but immediately felt bad as she saw his hurt look. „Chota, look, I’m sorry. I didn’t meant it to sound so bitchy. Seriously.“ She apologised as she looked at him sadly.
„No problem.“ He answered, sending her a small, confused smile but leaned back into the couch.
Arisu continued staring at her, making her shift nervously. „Oh my god.“ He finally whispered, widening his eyes. „You are pregnant!“
„Shut up!“
„What?“ Chota immediately leaned back forward, staring at her with a similar expression as Airsu, „No way! Seriously?“
„I-I…“ Akemi scolded herself for stuttering like an idiot. „It’s… I…“ She pressed her lips on each other as tears burned in her eyes. „I don’t know how it happened. We are always careful and… I- We don’t want kids yet!“ She whispered, wrapping her arms around herself. „I found out half an hour ago.“
„Oh my god…“ Chota immediately got up, sitting down next to her as he wrapped his arms around her. „Karube doesn’t know yet?“ He asked as she leaned into his side, finding comfort in his hug.
„No.“ She answered, fighting against the tears. „I'm still trying to realise it myself, it’s just… It’s so unimaginable.“
„Wait… So I’m gonna be an uncle?“ Arisu asked, still staring at her in shock. „I’m not ready to be an uncle!“
„You’d have to be her brother to be an uncle. You’re her cousin.“ Chota scoffed, glaring at his friend for probably the first time ever. „And you’re not helping right now!“
„Right, sorry.“ Arisu sighed as he walked over, kneeling down in front of his cousin and placing his hands on her knees. „It’s gonna be all right. We’re all here for you, yes? You’re not alone.“
Akemi just nodded, not trusting her voice right now. They stayed like this for a minute as she finally collected herself again, quickly wiping her sleeve over her eyes. „What if…“ She began but quickly coughed as her voice sounded too breathy. „What if Karube doesn’t want it? What if he breaks up-“
„He’d never do that.“ Chota immediately interrupted her. „He might be in shock, but he’d never leave you.“
„Never.“ Arisu added as he was still trying to wrap his head around that his little cousin was pregnant.
Akemi just hummed, still cuddled into Chota’s arms with Arisu kneeling in front of them as the two just tried to show her they were there for her whatever happened. But before they could think of something else to say, the balcony door got opened again.
„What’s going on?“ Karube asked confused, glancing between the three.
„Oh, it’s…“ Arisu stopped, racking his brain for an answer. „Chota and I are going to-“
„Arisu…” Akemi interrupted him, looking at him beggingly to not leave her. Not now.
He slowly nodded, clearly getting the message. „We uh… We’re going to get fresh air. It’s uh… Too hot in here. We’ll be outside.“ He finally hummed, making the girl nod at him thankful as he jumped up to his feet, Chota squeezing the girl once again carefully before also getting up.
„What?“ Karube scoffed confused, shaking his head.
But instead of giving him an answer the two practically bolted out of the balcony door, knowing their friends would need a little space right now.
„Okay, now I’m really confused. What happened?“ He asked, walking back to the couch and sitting down next to his girlfriend. „Love?“ He looked at her worried as she saw the tear stains on her cheeks. „Hey, what’s wrong?“ He whispered, pulling her into his body as she hid her face in his shirt.
Akemi opened her mouth to answer but instead she began sobbing, making him hug her even tighter as she cried into him, shaking slightly.
„Love, you’re worrying me.“ Karube whispered, after a few minutes in which he just held her, planting a couple of kisses all over her head. „Please, talk to me. Did something happen?“ He asked, pushing her away gently so that he could look at her. „Did I do something wrong?“
„No.“ Akemi answered quickly, wiping over her eyes again. „It’s…“ She stopped, thinking about how to tell him the news. „Karube, something happened…“ She began slowly, making him widen his eyes.
„A-are you sick?“ He whispered, his voice trembling slightly.
„What? No.“ She wasn’t able to suppress a small chuckle, shaking her head. „No, not really.“
„Not really? Please, just tell me what’s going on.“
Akemi nodded, her head as she began fumbling with her hand. „Okay, but… Please, don’t… Don’t leave me. I-I don’t know how I’m supposed to do this without you.“ She asked silently, glancing up at him as she saw his gaze hardening ever so slightly.
„Did you cheat on me?“
„God, no!“ Akemi widened her eyes, quickly shaking her head. „Hey, Karube, I’d never cheat on you, yes?“ She put her hands on the sides of his face, making him sigh relieved.
„Good.“ He whispered, melting a little into her touch. „You can tell me everything and I promise I won’t just break up with you.“ He sent her a small reassuring smile as she nodded, dropping her hands back in her lap as she continued fumbling with her fingers.
„Okay.“ She answered almost weakly, breathing through. Just say it. Like ripping of a band-aid, quick and easy. „I’m pregnant.“ Akemi closed her eyes for a second, as she still couldn’t believe it when speaking it out loud. But she finally looked up, glancing at her boyfriend.
Karube sat there, his mouth slightly apart, his eyes widened as he stared at her in shock. „You- you are pregnant?“ He whispered, „With an actual child?“
Despite the situation, Akemi giggled shortly, nodding her head. „I hope it’s not an alien inside of me.“ She answered, „Yes, I’m pregnant with an actual child… Our child.“
„Oh my god…“ Karube whispered, jumping up to his feet. „Oh my god, I’m gonna be a dad! I’m gonna be a dad!“ He yelled loudly, a big smile spreading over his face. „I’m gonna… Arisu, Chota!“ He rushed towards the door, nearly stumbling over his own feet as he was able to catch himself in the last second, his two friends now slowly entering the room. „I’m gonna be a dad!“ He screamed happily, throwing himself into the arms of his two best friends as they now laughed loudly, all three beginning to jump up and down excitedly.
Akemi stared at them shocked, not having expected this reaction. Maybe having a kid wouldn’t be the worst thing?
„I’m gonna…“ Karube started once again but quickly shut up as he now let go off his friends, spinning around as he stared at Akemi with wide eyes. And without waiting another second he rushed towards her, picking her up from the couch as she let out a small yelp, beginning to spin in circles with her in his arms. „We’re gonna be a family!“

Last Boss - Scared to loose you
English is not my first language!
synopsis: Akemi joined the Beach after having played a game where she saved Last Boss’ life, having him swept right off his feet. Ever since he became her shadow, trying to keep her safe. But what happens when another militant thinks he saves Last Boss from the spell she has over him by plotting her death?
warnings: description of violence and blood
„Hey, sunshine!“ Niragi hollered, causing Akemi to turn her head confused. „You’re with us.“ He ordered, nodding over towards the three other militants.
It was time for another game as she was apparently grouped up with the four militants. Akemi nodded her head, hurrying over while sending Last Boss a small smile.
The two have grown pretty close for the last weeks. Ever since Akemi had saved him in a Five of Clubs game, tackling him to the ground without hesitation so the bullets wouldn’t pierce through him, he became her shadow. It didn’t matter where she went, he was there. If she was at the pool, he lingered around at the pool bar. If she was in the disco room, he stood leaned against a wall, making sure no one would harass her.
Akemi wasn’t sure how or why, but he apparently talked Hatter into sorting her with him in almost every game. There was just one game out of the last five she hasn’t played with him. The Five of Spades. Therefore Aguni had a close eye on her the whole time, knowing whatever she meant to her friend was important.
So, it wasn’t much of a surprise as she was finding herself in a car with Last Boss, Niragi, Aguni and Yuto.
Akemi was squished in the backseat between Yuto, who just snarled at her whenever her body accidentally pressed against his in a curve and Last Boss, who just stared at her with his typical dead eyes that she learned to lov- to like. Like. Just like.
They finally stopped in front of an old theme park combined with a zoo. There were old, empty enclosures all over the big park grounds that were lit by the many lamps and lights from the different rides.
There were three other players standing near a wall, clutching onto their phones as they eyed the group nervously. Obviously, Akemi could understand them. Aguni was taller and broader than usual people, wearing cargo pants and a black tank top that highlighted his muscles with a couple of weapons on his belt. Niragi’s face was covered in piercings and he had a rifle slung over his shoulder. Also, his aura screamed psycho, just one glance was enough to know he wasn’t exactly a good person. Yuto looked a little more average, blonde hair being styled up into a fashionable hairstyle and just like Aguni he had a few weapons on his belt, a clock in his hand as he glanced around the area. And then there was Last Boss. Did Akemi really have to say why he stood out? Surely not.
The five grabbed their phones before retreating to the other side of the table, waiting for the time to run up.
„Registration closed. The game will now commence.“ The electronic voice finally announced. „Game: Predator and Prey. Difficulty: Six of Spades. Time Limit: 30 minutes.“
Akemi slowly nodded her head. She wasn’t sure if she was supposed to be glad or worried about the fact that it was a Spades game. Sure, the militants were all amazing in Spades games, but Akemi? She favoured Diamonds or maybe even Hearts.
„Rules: Every player is a zebra. In the trend where players are preyed no by different animals, the only choices are fight or flight. It is Game Clear if all the predators are killed within the time limit. It is Game Over if all players are killed boy the predators.“ The voice announced loudly, causing Akemi to closer her eyes. „Game start.“
A large screen, burst into life, now showing pictures of different animals. There were all sort of felidae as well as birds and even bears on it.
„All right, let’s do this!“ Niragi laughed loudly, looking around cheerfully.
„Let’s separate.“ Aguni ordered, „We’ll be done quicker.“
They all nodded as it was Yuto walking over to Akemi, making her raise her eyebrows. „Here.“ He hummed, handing her a small hand weapon. And without another word, he turned around and walked away, as the other men did as well.
Just Last Boss lingered for a few more seconds next to Akemi, looking down at her thoughtful. „Hide and don’t come out ‘till the end.“ He brushed his hand against the back of hers before also walking off, leaving Akemi behind with a racing heart.
She breathed through for a second before finally walking away, trying to find a hiding place. She wasn’t experienced in shooting a weapon and while this game was probably very easy for the other militants, Akemi knew it would be much more complicated for herself.
Gun shots echoed through the air, making the girl roll her eyes as she heard Niragi laughing loudly as if he had the time of his life. Akemi caught a glance of the man as he was sitting on a swinging pirate ship, shooting at something she couldn’t see.
God, this guy. He’d surely gonna go to hell but at least he enjoyed the ride ‘till then.
Akemi continued her way down the empty paths, trying her best to be quick but silent at the same time. There was no real hiding place, at least none that was good enough. After all she was quite sure that if she’d hide on a tree, a Cheetah would easily climb up and kill her there. Not to talk about the eagle that would surely rip her to shreds if she’d seriously dare to hide in a tree.
But there wasn’t much else to hide either. In a building? Surely not, this is where the game masters would probably hide a slower predator. There was nothing she could hide under, but even if there was, there were enough smaller predators who could easily climb under something like a vehicle and then she’d be too slow to get out.
Shit, shit, shit! What was she supposed to do?
Akemi clutched onto the gun in her hand, trying to control her breathing so she wouldn’t be too loud. She sneaked forward. There was a drop tower on the other side of the park. If she could get there, she might get onto the ride and be at least safe for a short time that she would be in the air. If an eagle would attack her she might be able shoot it, at least it wouldn’t be as deadly as a lion, right? That’s what Akemi hoped. But in order to get to that tower she had to cross the whole park.
Fuck it, this was her only chance.
So, Akemi ran forward, trying her best to be silent while hiding in the shadows as good as possible.
But she just managed to cross half the way as she hard a loud roaring close to her, making her press against the wall tightly, her heart pounding out of her chest. The girl pressed a hand to her mouth to stop herself from making any sounds as she heard the animal, probably a lion or tiger passing the other side of the building. She heard its heavy steps on the ground and she knew she had to get away from there before it would smell her.
Akemi racked her brain before having an idea. If she could distract it long enough, she could sneak around the building and run away. That’s why she finally slipped out of her shoes, breathing through before throwing one as far as possible into the opposite direction. The animal roared loudly as Akemi now ran into the other direction around the building.
There was no sound coming from in front of her, making her sigh relieved as she now rounded the corner. But she froze right in her tracks, seeing the bear standing there. It was staring right at the girl, letting out a load roar.
Akemi’s hand began trembling as she raised the gun. It was hard to aim due to the shaking of her hands but luckily the bear was a big target, she couldn’t miss it, right? A loud shot echoed through the air as she shot at it, once, twice… And then it ended. The gun clicked but no more bullets came out and the bear wasn't even wounded. It was just angry.
The girl took a step back slowly, hoping that she wouldn’t trigger it even more if she ran. But it was too late for that. It rushed forward, leaping at her as Akemi twirled around, rushing away as quick as possible. How quick were bears? Surely not as quick as a cheetah, but could she outrun it?
Before she could wonder about it further, she felt a heavy weight pushing onto her back, causing her to fall to the ground with a groan, managing to turn onto her back. She hissed as his claws cut through her shirt and skin. The bear was hovering right over her, baring its teeth as his hot breath fanned her face.
Akemi closed her eyes. Which animal had a sensitive nose? Bears? Sharks? She was quite sure it were sharks, but maybe… hopefully she was wrong. In a last attempt to save her life she smacked the gun straight against it nose but that just made the bear growl loudly, ripping its head back and revealing its large, deadly fangs.
This was it.
This was the end.
——————————————————————————————————
Niragi jumped off the ship, grinning to himself as he saw the cadavers of various animals laying all around the ride. This was one of the easiest game yet. With his weapon he was sure he could take any animal. Six of Spades? Ridiculous.
„How’s it going?“ He asked, as he saw Yuto close by, panting heavily as he had just shot a cheetah that was jumping at him.
„All good.“ The man answered. „It’s easy.“
„Absolutely.“ Niragi sighed, almost being bored.
Yuto looked around before taking a step closer, not wanting for anyone to hear their conversation. „What do you think of Akemi?“ He asked, tilting his head to the side.
Surely, Niragi wouldn’t like her either, right? How could he. The way she hindered Last Boss form fully focusing on his task as he always was around her… No, Niragi surely wouldn’t like her. And if he told him his plan, he might even promote him, maybe he could become an executive member.
„Why?“ Niragi raised his eyebrows, looking at the other almost curiously.
Yuto grinned darkly, shrugging his shoulders. „She’s a distraction to Last Boss. It’ll be just a matter of time until she get him accidentally killed when he’s trying to protect her, right?“ He asked, making Niragi hum. „The gun I gave her wasn’t fully loaded. Two bullets, not enough to take any of the predators down.“ He snickered, making Niragi nod slowly.
„This way it’ll seem like an accident and Last Boss can fully focus on his tasks again.“ He followed his thought process.
Yuto smiled proudly turning around as he now heard a vicious laugh behind him, coming from a hyena that was a couple of metres away, having focused on the two man. And just as he was raising his gun, he felt an awful pain erupting in his head, making him go to the ground as his weapon was ripped out of his hand.
„What-“
„It doesn’t matter what I think of Akemi.“ Niragi hissed, looking at the man on the ground as he slowly walked backwards. „It matters what Last Boss thinks of her. If she dies, he might quit. Quit the militants, quit the Beach. And I won’t let that happen.“
Yuto stared at him with wide eyes, jumping to his feet to run away but Niragi was quicker, pointing his rifle at the man and shooting his leg. He went back down to the ground with a painful cry. The hyena now rushed froward, beginning to rip big stripes of flesh out of the screaming man. It dug its claws and teeth into him until Yuto’s cries began to fade. Soon enough he was dead, causing Niragi to smile darkly before shooting the hyena.
„Fucking idiot.“ He scoffed before turning around and jogging off.
Playing babysitter wasn’t something he had planned for this game and this scumbag now forced him to be one as he had to find the girl before a predator could.
„Hey!“ Niragi called out seeing Aguni and Last Boss standing in the distance. „Where’s Akemi?“
The two just shrugged their shoulders, Last Boss’ eyes widening slightly. Was it a mistake to leave her alone? But he wouldn’t have been able to focus the way he did if she was next to him and he had to not just look out for himself but for her as well. Also he knew she could take care of herself after all.
„Yuto played her. The gun he gave her contains only two bullets, he wanted her dead.“ Niragi hummed, causing Last Boss to immediately look around panicked.
„Where is he?“ Aguni asked, crossing his arms in front of the chest.
„Dead.“
The leader nodded, „Good.“ He hummed, „Let’s find her and get out of here. Just the bear is left.“ he pointed towards the big screen.
But before they could talk about a plan, they heard two gunshots close by, making Last Boss twirl around and run off immediately.
„Shit.“ Niragi muttered, the two quickly following after their friend.
If Akemi used the gun that meant the bear had to be close by. And all of them knew that two bullets surely wouldn’t kill a grown grizzly. They rounded the corner in time to see how the bear was hovering over their friend as she smashed the gun against its nose.
„Idiot.“ Niragi scoffed, grabbing his rifle but before he could even aim Last Boss already rushed forward.
Akemi closed her eyes, feeling the hot breath of the bear fanning over her face. She knew this would be the end, there was no way out of it. Yet, she felt weirdly at peace. This world was awful and getting out? It wasn’t the worst. Even though it wasn’t a nice way to go, getting her head bitten off by a bear. The image of Last Boss was in front of her inner eye and she just hoped he would be okay.
Instead of feeling its fangs ripping out her throat, she felt something wet hitting her face, the bear making a weird gargling sound that caused the girl to open her eyes again. She saw the tip of a blade coming out of its throat, making her smile relieved. Last Boss, he saved her. Blood splattered all over her face and clothes as the bear’s body gave out, causing it to land on top of her, making her groan painfully.
Last Boss appeared in her line of vision as seconds later the bear was pulled off of her, Aguni and Niragi standing there, both having grabbed a leg and pulled it away.
„Game cleared. Congratulation.“ The voice came out of the speakers, making Akemi sigh relieved, letting her head drop down on the ground.
„Thank you.“ She whispered as Last Boss now extended his hand, pulling her up to her feet. „Thanks guys.“ She also glanced at Aguni and Niragi who both just hummed before turning around, walking away to collect the card.
„You’re hurt.“ Last Boss mumbled, taking a look at her wound carefully.
„It’s not too bad.“ Akemi answered but scrunched up her face as it burned awfully. „Ann can take a look at it when we’re home.“
Last Boss nodded slowly as he now pulled her away, still holding onto her hand.
„Thank you again, for saving me.“ Akemi looked up at him but he just shrugged it off. „Seriously. Without your help…“ She stopped, shuddering slightly as she thought about the outcome.
„You saved my life before.“ He answered almost dismissively.
„So this was just a quit pro quo?“
Last Boss stopped, slowly shaking his head. „I’ll always safe you. No matter how many times you’ve saved me before. It doesn’t matter.“ He whispered, glancing down at her. „Let’s go now, your wound has to be treated.“
Akemi smiled slightly, feeling her cheeks heating up as she didn’t move, making him hum confused. But instead of giving him an answer, she rose to her tiptoes, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek. He widened his eyes, his hand flying up to the place she just kissed as if he couldn’t believe it.
„Thank you, Last Boss.“
He looked at her shocked and she swore she could see him blushing under his tattoos. „I-It’s no problem.“ He answered, trying to regain composure. „And, uh… You can call me Samura.“
Akemi smiled widely, nodding her head as she just placed another kiss on his other cheek. „Thank you, Samura.“

JJ Maybank - Love at the first Kiss
English is not my fist language!
synopsis: June just moved to the Outer Banks and even though her new friends Sarah and Rafe Cameron had warned her, she finds herself helping a Pogue hiding from the police.
June Asher Young was an ordinary girl. She just tried to fit in, no matter what she had to do for that. Keep low? No problem. Don’t speak up even though you’re annoyed? She could do that. Pretend to find something okay even though you hated it? Not easy, but in order to not be alone she’d try.
She and her parents had moved to Outer Banks a month ago, making her go to the OB High Academy. They had used to live in England but her father had a great job opportunity here in Outer Banks. His firm expanded and wanted to make him the head of financial department.
She was glad to have found a good friend in Sarah Cameron and her brother Rafe. She often spent her time with them as well as Topper and Kelce.
Were these the people she really wanted to spend time with? Nope. But she wanted to fit in. And with whom could she do this better than with the golden children of Figure Eight.
All this sounded like she hated her new friends, which wasn’t the case. She liked them, she actually did. But she hated the way they were talking about poorer people, like they were below them. It sucked and June was tempted to say something to it every time but like mentioned, she wanted to fit in. Also, they were really nice to her and actual friends. There is also the fact that others doesn’t seem to like new people, so without Sarah she probably wouldn’t have anyone.
Right now June was standing in the middle of a rather small store, looking around for new things.
„Come on dude, you’ll never be able to pay for this.“ She suddenly heard a boy muttering, causing her to look to her left for a brief second, seeing two really cute boys standing there as they looked at the bracelets.
The way they dressed told her they were probably from the Cut, Pogues, like her friends called them. People she was supposed to stay away from, yet she didn't find it in herself to be scared of the two boys. She was rather curious. Were they really this different?
„We could chip in together? Come on Pope, it’s his birthday.“ The other one sighed, seeing how June was glancing at him as he immediately send her a smile and a small wink.
But of course she just blushed and quickly focused back on the shelf in front of her, too embarrassed to react to it the slightest.
„I already got a present. And even if not, it’s still too expensive.“ The first boy sighed while June listened carefully, not wanting to seem nosy.
„Oh come on, it’s perfect.“ The blonde hummed, shaking his head, „I’m sure John B would love it. Maybe…“ He looked around carefully before leaning closer to his friend, whispering something June didn’t understand. But she could guess what he was suggesting, so she finally turned around, not having found anything she liked as she was now leaving the store.
Maybe she was too quick to judge. Just because he was from the Cut didn’t mean he’d just steal the bracelet. And even if he did, he did it for his friend which was cute, right? It’s a nice thing to do.
She was just passing a dead-end street as she heard shouting behind her, causing her to turn around confused, seeing how the blond boy was rushing around the corner, his hood pulled up to hide his face.
„Stop that thief!“ She heard another voice yelling, probably a cop or something but he wasn’t yet in sight as the boy now raced past June, running straight into the dead-end street.
„Shit!“ He shouted, but in that moment the police was already rounding the corner.
June made her decision in a split second, knowing she’d have around ten seconds until the cop was there, causing her to quickly hurry into the dead-end as well, glancing at the boy who now looked around stressed. Just this one time she wanted to be spontaneous and do something she usually wouldn’t do.
„Put out your jacket, quick.“ June ordered the boy, causing him to look at her with wide eyes, „Hurry up!“ She hissed, opening her bag causing him to quickly get out of the jacket and throwing it in her bag. They already heard the steps of the two cops, causing June to close her eyes for a brief second, hesitating if she really wanted to do this.
But yes, she did. She wanted to do something stupid for once in her life.
So, she quickly walked a few steps forward, shoving the boy against the wall carefully, leaning on her tiptoes. „Just act along.“ She whispered before pressing her lips to his, ignoring how awkward this was right now. Why exactly did she do this again?
„Hey, you two!“ They heard a voice, causing her to quickly turn her head while keeping her hand on the back of the boy’s head, causing him to nestle his head in the crock of her neck. This way the cops wouldn’t be able to see his face and tell that it was him who robbed the store. But apparently he seemed to enjoy it a little too much as he began placing a few kisses along her neck.
„Yes?“ June asked the cops, looking at them with raised eyebrows. „Sorry, my uh… my boyfriend and I are just a little entranced by our romantic getaway.“ She mumbled, blushing slightly.
„Have you seen a boy with a red jacket?“ One of the cops just hummed, not reacting to anything she’d just said.
„We heard steps running past but they faded as quickly as they came.“ She shrugged, pointing down the street, causing them to eye the couple for a second before apparently believing her as they now continued running down the street. But just as June turned her head towards him, the boy already pulled her into another kiss, causing her to hesitantly return it.
After a few more seconds they finally separated, both just looking at each other. „Thank you.“ The boy whispered, leaning down once again and giving her a sweet peck. „I should go now before they come back.“ And with that he turned around, beginning to jog away.
„W-wait. Your jacket!“ June shouted after a few seconds of just processing what had just happened.
The boy turned around once again, just sending her a wink before continuing his way as she just stared at him flabbergasted. Well… That was certainly an interesting encounter.
——————————————————————————————————
„Guys? Guys!“ JJ shouted as he ran over to his friends who were waiting in the van for him.
„You made it.“ Pope smirked, shaking his head, „Thought police would get to you first.“
„And they would’ve but I got help.“ He explained, shutting the door of the van behind him as he looked between John B and Pope. „I’m in love.“
„Love?“ The other two asked at the same time, exchanging a confused glance.
„Don’t tell me you fell in love with Shoupe’s moustache as you were running from him.“ John B snickered, shaking his head at his friend. Where the hell would he have fallen in love?
„Hey, I’m serious!“ JJ scoffed, glaring at his friends. „I am in love. Seriously, this girl, she- she saved me from the cops. She kissed me and I-I’m in love. Simple and plain.“ He sighed, leaning back in his seat as he remembered what had happened. He quickly told his friends about how she had helped him and how they kissed.
„Okay that’s cool.“ Pope admitted as he looked at his friend, „But that doesn’t mean you’re in love. It was just a kiss man.“
„Yeah dude, love is something completely different.“ John B backed his friend up, shaking his head.
„It’s not!“ JJ groaned, „It’s not something different. I know what I felt, I know I’m in love. The way she saved me form the cops and- and the way we kissed? It is love. I know it!“ He looked at his hands, sighing dramatically. „She’s a Touron though, so I’ll never see her again.“
„A love story like it’s written in a book.“ Pope smirked, dodging hid friend’s swing. „All right, all right. I’m sorry that she’s just a Touron, okay?“
„Hey, if it’s really true love maybe you’ll see her again when visiting her country and then you both fall in love and will make lots and lots of children.“ John B answered sarcastically, suppressing a grin. JJ always was a little dramatic but never on the love way. That was new and weird, but hey. It’s not like he wouldn’t suspect something like this from his friend.
„Stop making fun of me, I’m serious!“ JJ muttered, shaking his head at his two friends annoyed.
„Oh come on,“ John B sighed, „Just roll yourself a blunt and then everything will look different immediately, okay?“ He smirked, looking in the review mirror but raised his eyebrows as he saw that his friend seemed seriously distressed. „Come on, I’m just joking. If she’s here for vacation then you might see her again, yes?“
„Maybe.“ JJ hummed, nodding slightly.
Yes, he’d surely see her again, right?

Benedict Bridgerton - Snowy Kiss
English is not my first language!
synopsis: Jane Crawford is visiting her good friend Daphne Bridgerton. But she's getting distracted by Benedict before she can enter the house.
Jane Crawford was walking through the dark streets, smiling blissfully as the big snowflakes hit her face, melting on the warmth of her skin. It was a beautiful winter evening and Jane had promised her friend, Daphne Bridgerton, to come around and already look through the first stack of dresses for her debut this summer.
Jane would have her debut as well, but she wasn’t half as nervous as Daphne was, nor was the brunette excited about it. She didn’t wish to marry, but she knew she had no choice. Her parents were fond of the idea giving away their only child, not because they wanted to get rid of her, but furthermore to secure her. If they were to die, their daughter would end with nothing, all their wealth going over to their next male related, Jane’s cousin Nate, who wasn’t exactly a decent human being. But as soon as she was to be married, she would be secured, everything going to her husband once her parents wouldn’t be no more.
Deep inside, Jane knew they were right and it was the only thing she could do. But she didn’t want to, she didn’t want to have any fiancé anytime soon with any guy. Almost any, she thought to herself as she saw Benedict Bridgerton sitting on the swing, looking at the sky with closed eyes while smiling slightly.
The girl was intrigued by him for as long as she could think. The way he was always so calm and observant, most of the time just sitting in a corner and scribbling in his notebook. She still had the drawing he did of her in her room. Yet, she still was quite curious what would’ve happened if she wouldn’t have looked over his shoulder secretly. Would he have ever shown her the picture he had drawn of her? She sometimes wondered if he did it more often, drawing her when she wasn’t looking. But then she thought, why would he? There was nothing special about her and there were truly far more beautiful woman.
Jane quietly bent down, picking up some snow and forming it to a ball as she slowly walked closer to him. He hadn’t yet noticed her, but that quickly changed as he nearly fell down the swing, feeling something cold hitting the back of his head.
„You didn’t!“ Benedict shouted, narrowing his eyes at the young girl who was now laughing loudly at his stunned expression.
But she was quick to stop laughing and dodging the snowball that was flying right at her face, merely missing her for an inch. „I don’t think this is an appropriate behaviour towards a lady, Lord Bridgerton.“ Jane smirked, making the man roll his eyes.
„You surely are right, lucky for us I don’t see a lady here.“ He teased, throwing another snowball and hitting her shoulder.
„Oh, you’re on.“ Jane hummed, quickly bending down, forming more snowballs and throwing one after another at Benedict, who did the exact same as the two emerged in a big snowball fight for the next minutes.
„Okay, okay! Stop, truce! Please!“ Benedict finally breathed, being frozen to the bone as the two finally stopped throwing snowballs. He slowly walked over to the girl.
„G-giving up t-this quickly Lord Bridgerton?“ Jane smirked, making him huff and grin slightly.
„Not giving up, just calling for a truce… For now.“ He answered, „And what’s with the formalities today, Lady Crawford?“ Benedict grinned, making the girl chuckle slightly, a sound he could never get enough off.
„My mother felt the need to once again remind me how inappropriate it is, to address young gentleman without the right formalities… Which makes me think that it should be totally fine to address you as just Benedict.“ Jane snickered, sending the man a small wink as he just narrowed his eyes.
„It’s always a pleasure talking to you Jane.“ Benedict answered sarcastically, as the two were now walking towards the house.
But right before Jane had the chance to answer, Benedict already let out a small yelp as he slipped on the frozen ground, trying to find any hold as he desperately grabbed Jane’s arm. But instead of her being able to hold him up, he pulled her down with him as he landed on his back harshly, Jane right on top of him with a loud huff.
„I’m so sorry Jane, I didn’t-“ Benedict began, but trailed off as he noticed the closeness between them as Jane was lifting her head slightly, so she could look at him.
They were laying in a highly inappropriate position and both of them knew they had to quickly move away in order to not cause any scandals. But none of them seemed to find the strength to do so as they just gazed in each other’s eyes.
„I-I should…“ Jane finally began, her voice coming out low and shaky. But instead of ending the sentence she finally moved to get up.
She didn’t have the chance to though, as Benedict was suddenly turning the pair around with a quick move, pinning the young girl down underneath his large figure, his eyes still not leaving hers as he knew he lost himself in them.
„Benedict, if anyone sees…“
„I know.“ He whispered but couldn’t find himself to care.
He already imagined this scenario so often in his head. Every night he went to sleep, every morning when he got up, every time he… released some stress. And now that they were finally so close, he wouldn’t let her get away this easily. Benedict knew it was wrong, he knew he should let her leave. This was no behaviour for a gentleman, not if he might ruin Jane’s reputation so easily. But yet, he still didn’t move away. All in contrary, he slowly leaned closer, their lips just an inch apart.
„T-Tell me to stop.“ Benedict asked, knowing he wouldn’t find his strength to do so. If she would just tell him to leave her alone, to get lost, to stop. He would do it immediately, never wanting to upset the younger girl, not wanting to hurt her.
But instead of any of these words, Jane smiled slightly as she lifted her head enough to let their lips brush against each other in a soft kiss. Benedict reacted immediately as he kissed her back eagerly, wanting to feel more of her. His hand wandered to the side of her face, cupping her cheek and caressing it with his thumb in a small but affectionate gesture.
Jane, never being kissed before, felt absolutely blissful, intoxicated as she wanted to save this feeling for the rest of her days. She let her hand tangle in his hair, making him groan against her mouth. And in that second, she swore that she had never heard anything more beautiful and that she was sure she wanted to hear more of it. There was also a new feeling erupting in her lower stomach, something she had never felt before. When someone was talking about having butterflies in the stomach, she always guessed it was just some saying, but now she understood where it was coming from as her stomach tickled and felt crazy. The feeling got even worse as Benedict’s hand wandered down her side, grabbing her waist almost forcefully, making her moan against his lips now.
„If- if we don’t stop now, I won’t be able to hold back.“ Benedict hummed his voice raspier than normal as he still had a tight grip at her waist.
„I wish to say don’t… But I’m freezing and… if anyone sees.“ She shook her head, avoiding his eyes, „I would be ruined.“
Benedict nodded understanding as he got up, not without one last soft kiss. He held out his hand, helping Jane to her feet as well as the two tried the best they could to brush the snow off their clothes.
„Jane, I am so sorry. This was no behaviour for a gentleman and… I shouldn’t have done this, not this way.“ He whispered, as he grabbed her hands, giving them a small squeeze.
„Yet I don’t regret it.“ Jane answered silently gazing up in his eyes, not being able to hold back the smile as she saw his face brighten at her words.
Benedict looked down at their hands, how small hers looked in comparison to his, before taking a deep breath. „If you allow, Lady Jane. I would like to court you this summer, thus given that you’re still gonna debut this season.“
„I am debuting.“ Jane nodded, biting down on her lip to stop the big smile from spreading all over her face, „And I could not imagine a thing I would like better than being courted by you, Lord Bridgerton.“
Benedict smiled brightly, squeezing her hands excitedly. „It is settled then.“

Last Boss - As the World Caves In
English is not my first language!
synopsis: The famous singer Akemi Kokoro wrote a new song while being in the Borderlands. It was inspired by her close friend, or could he even be more?
Jumps between present and past
Akemi Kokoro had been a singer for quite a few years by now. She had her own albums and was on tour quite often. First in Japan, but at some point even in America and Europe. Once she also had a world tour and before she got into the Borderlands she was on the peak of her career.
And now, here she was. In a bizarre, cold replicate of Tokyo.
Living at the Beach had its ups and downs. While it secured a little protection and fun, it could be also really dangerous, especially if you made the wrong enemies. Good for her she got along with most of the people.
One especially, Last Boss. A very unlikely friendship formed between them over the last weeks and maybe there was even more. At least that’s what she hoped. Beside his really weird appearance and his creepy demeanour, he could be a real sweetheart.
He was always there for Akemi, making sure she was save and all right. Especially after a hard game or when someone at the Beach got too close to her, he was there, protecting her and helping her out. Even though she was fully capable to take care of herself, it was nice that someone had her back. Just like she had his.
Right now she was sitting in front of the piano, as she was about to sing the song she’d been writing over the last weeks. Hatter heard her rehearsing it and wanted her to play it for the members of the Beach.
That’s why she breathed through before finally hitting the keys, a sweet melody echoing through the air as she began singing after a second.
„My feet are aching. And your back is pretty tired.“
„On three.“ Akemi whispered almost silently.
She and Last Boss were in the Six of Spades game. They’ve been sneaking through a container park near the port for the last fifteen minutes, trying to find a way out while not getting shot by the Hunters. Finally they saw it. The safe zone, their way out. But therefore they had to cross a big open path and additionally climb over a fence. That wouldn’t be easy.
Last Boss nodded, holding three fingers up, slowly counting down before the two rushed forward. They ran through the open space, both dodging their heads unconsciously as bullets brushed past them, missing them for an inch.
The fence was finally in reach as they used the last of their strength, climbing up. Last Boss glanced over his shoulder, seeing the girl a little further down and without thinking, he grabbed her as he used all of his strength, pushing himself off the fence as they both tumbled over, landing on the ground harshly. Well, not so harshly for Akemi as she landed on top of the man, Last Boss however landed right on his back.
„Game clear, congratulations.“
Akemi sighed relieved, rolling down of Last Boss, turning her head to look at him. „My feet are killing me.“ She groaned, making him huff slightly, rolling his eyes. Of course, his back was probably feeling worse than her feet.
He didn’t answer her, he usually never did. It was on very special and rare occasions that he uttered a word. And right now was clearly not important enough.
Akemi glanced at Last Boss, seeing how he was having the smallest grin on his face, remembering the game clearly. She had told him before that he inspired the song and while this parts weren’t bad right now, Akemi was scared of what would come. Of her confession.
„And we’ve drunk a couple bottles, babe. And set our grief aside.“
Akemi sat on the top of the roof of the hotel, letting her legs tangle over the edge. She couldn’t be downstairs right now, not with all these people. It was too much, their celebrating and happiness. The games tonight had cost a lot of lives. If it’d continue like this… There wouldn’t be anymore left to collect the cards.
The girl sighed loudly, lifting the bottle of beer to her lips and taking a sip. There was no use to grieve, not yet at least. Not when they’d loose even more people tomorrow and the day after… When all this would be over, then it’d be time to heal and to fully grieve.
Akemi felt a gentle brush on her arm, making her finally raise her head, ripping her eyes away from the crowd downstairs, now looking at Last Boss.
„Beer?“ She asked, holding out another full bottle, making him hesitate before grabbing it with a small nod.
The two clinked their bottles together before taking a sip. There was a weird friendship between the two, Last Boss never uttered a word and Akemi wasn’t much of a talker either. Yet, they got along without words. And even though Akemi wouldn’t go so far and say they were friends yet, they still had a mutual understanding of having each others backs.
„Do you think all this dying will ever end? That these games will ever end?“ Akemi whispered after a few minutes, glancing at him.
Last Boss stayed still, just shrugging his shoulders slightly. He didn’t care much about other people dying but he knew she did. That’s why he was here, to keep her a little company. To help her, even if it just meant not leaving her alone right now.
„The Papers say it’s doomsday. The button has been pressed.“
„I wish we could know what had happened.“ Akemi looked at Last Boss as they were walking through the dark mall, grabbing a few things for the Beach. There were papers all over the ground but not a single article reported about any distorter or anything that could indicate why they were here now.
Last Boss just gently brushed his hand against her own before continuing his way inside one of the stores.
Akemi looked after him, suppressing a sigh before following him. Right now there were more important theories than the lack of information or conspiracy theories about what could’ve been. They needed to focus on facts and that were, that they needed more dressings and sanitisers to treat their wounded.
„We’re gonna nuke each other up, boys.“ She looked over to Aguni and Niragi, having formed some sort of friendship with them, since they’re always around Last Boss who was always around her.
Niragi was laughing, wooing loudly at that sentence as the others sent him a few annoyed glances but none of them dared to say anything to his interruption, most people being scared of him.
„’Til old Satan stands impressed.“
„All right.“ Niragi’s blooming laugh echoed through the building, his weapon pointed in the air as he fired a few times.
The Six of Clubs. A team game with simple rules: Eliminate the other team.
Of course Niragi and the others had the time of their lives. They separated and while Last Boss stuck around Akemi, Aguni and Niragi were walking through the abandoned paintball place, searching for any indications of the hiding place of the other team.
More shots fell as Niragi’s laughed echoed once again through the place, causing Akemi to close her eyes for a few seconds. She got along with him good and he was actually decent towards her. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t a total psychotic asshole and bad person.
„You know he’s going to hell, right?“ Akemi muttered, Last Boss and she trailing further past a small barricade, looking around carefully. „Like, even Satan will kneel in front of him. It’s a wonder he hasn’t yet found worse weapons yet. Nukes or bombs or stuff.“
„And here it is, our final night alive. And as the earth burns to the ground…“
What would you do if you’d know you’d be dying in the next game?“ Akemi asked, glancing at Last Boss.
The two were once again seated on the roof, looking off into the distance where they could see an arena blowing up. It was burning, lightning the otherwise dark city.
Last Boss shot her a look, making her sigh. „I know we could die the next game.“ She hummed, knowing what he was thinking. „But I mean, would you change anything then? If you could do anything, no matter what, what would you do if you’d be certain to die tomorrow?“
Another silence spread between the two. Of course Akemi didn’t think she’d receive an answer but she herself was thinking about that question for a while now and she didn’t have an answer herself. Would she even change anything? She glanced to her left, seeing how Last Boss was already staring at her with hist typical, neutral expression.
„This.“ He suddenly whispered, making her shrug together slightly as she didn’t expect him to give her an answer.
It startled her hearing his voice but she couldn’t say she didn’t like it, making her smile. „If you could do anything, you’d bet sitting here with me?“ She asked touched, but he didn’t react, just looking away off into the distance. „Me too.“ She finally whispered, placing her hand on his own, which was more than usual. Both weren’t too fond of physical contact nor did they reach that level of friendship to just touch each other more than a brush from time to time. „If I could choose anything, I’d still would just sit here with you.“
„Oh, boy, it’s you,“ Akemi looked at Last Boss who was already looking at her as she felt herself blushing, „that I lie with.“ She glanced back on her piano, too scared for his reaction.
Last Boss was staring at her with wide eyes in the meantime, feeling his insides burning up as he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. What did that mean? Did she… Did she mean it romantically? That couldn’t be, right?
„Come on, man.“ Niragi snickered as the song was finally finished after another minute, elbowing his friend. „If you don’t go and get your girl, I might.“ He smirked, but quickly raised his hands in surrender as Last Boss was glaring at her. And even though he’d never admit it, he was afraid of him. Last Boss could surely be intimidating.
„Shut up.“ He muttered but kept a close eye on Akamai as she was now walking off the stage, immediately being surrounded by a lot of people who all wanted to talk to her, being close to her. A little too close for his liking.
„Go.“ Aguni now hummed. He usually never got involved in this type of things but he couldn’t watch the pining of his friend any longer. „It’s an order.“ He added as Last Boss still just continued standing next to them.
He was widening his eyes a little bit, before ducking his head between his shoulders and walking forward, pushing himself through the crowd. Well, not really pushing, most immediately stepped aside as he approached, fearing him.
That was another thing. From day one, Akemi had never looked at him with fear in her eyes, not once. Curiously, yes. Who wouldn’t with all the tattoos adorning his face, but there was never even a hint of fear or disgust.
„There you are.“ Akemi smiled as soon as he walked up to her.
Last Boss looked down at her, seeing her reddened cheek which made his heart flutter. There were still people trying to approach and talk to her, especially men, making him hum as he wrapped his hand around hers, pulling her away without so much of an explanation.
They walked out of the disco room and towards the elevator. None of them said a word as they just made their ways up towards the roof as it had become their space.
„What did-“
„Look, I-“
The two started at the same time, causing Akemi to chuckle nervously, shaking her head as they stopped.
„You go first.“ Last Boss hummed silently, making her nod, breathing through.
„I…“ Akemi stopped, not even sure what she wanted to tell him. She scrunched up her face slightly before glancing up at him, seeing how he was staring at her with wide eyes already. And in that moment she decided she could better show than tell him what she felt.
And before chickening out she leaned up on her tiptoes. Akemi could feel the heat radiating from his body as she brushed her lips against his. It was a gentle kiss, lasting for only a second as she brought a little space between them, looking up.
But before she even had the chance to say something, he already leaned down, kissing her back fiercely without any hesitation. The kiss also just lasted for a few seconds before they separated again, leaning their foreheads against each other, both still having their eyes closed.
Last Boss finally lifted his hand, caressing her cheek gently. „Oh, girl, it’s you.“

First Kiss - Karube
English is not my first language!
synopsis: Arisu's cousin moved to Tokyo and met his best friends. One immediately caught her eye.
Akemi looked around her living room with a small smile.
She had moved to Shibuya two weeks ago, deciding to study here. Another plus was, that her family lived in Tokyo as well. Her older cousin Hajime found this apartment for her and it was just perfect. Her uncle also made his younger son, Ryohei go out and show her the city.
They hadn’t seen each other for a few years, so at first it was a little awkward but they quickly got along amazingly, having a lot of fun together. She also met his two best friends, becoming friends with them as well really quick as they by now were hanging around her apartment most of the time.
Just like this evening. They had stayed in, drunk a couple of beers, ordered food and watched a movie. At some point they all fell asleep and Akemi just woke up because the movie was over and the main theme was playing over and over again, waking her up.
She silently got up from the couch, turning the TV off before placing blankets over her cousin and her two friends. Akemi thought about laying back down as well but the addiction won over as she grabbed her box of cigarettes from the kitchen counter before sneaking out onto the balcony.
The cool night air made her sober up as she lightened the cigarette, leaning against the wall as she looked over Shibuya. It was beautiful, way more quieter and the lights enlighten the city… Peaceful.
„Got a spare?“ A voice behind her ask as the balcony door got opened.
Akemi glanced at Karube, sending him a small smile as she held out the pack of cigarettes for him, getting one as she held the lighter in front of his face. He took a few drags before the cigarette was fully lit, causing her to place it back inside the box so she wouldn’t loose it.
„I love Tokyo at night. It’s beautiful.“ Akemi spoke her thoughts from a few seconds ago before an awkward silence could spread between them.
Truth be told, she had a little crush on the boy since the day she met him. He was smokin’ hot, a great friend, loyal, sweet, funny… Just everything anyone could ask for. And it drove her crazy, but she respected Arisu’s rules of not dating any of his friends as he didn’t want it to be awkward for anyone. He also didn’t want to imagine one of his best friends shagging his cousin who was like a little sister for him by now.
„Beautiful indeed.“ Karube hummed, making her glance over at him. But instead of looking over the city, he was staring at her intently.
„Stop that.“ Akemi rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress the grin as she was elbowing him.
This was another thing. He was always so flirty, it made it hard for Akemi to stay just friends with him. One time they were alone he had suddenly leaned down, almost as if he wanted to kiss her, just to stop right before their lips could meet, blowing a lash away that was laying on her cheek. She could still feel her heart flutter when thinking back to that moment but afterwards she had felt so awkward. He was just a damn flirt.
„What, I’m just agreeing with you.“ Karube chuckled, making her roll her eyes again.
„Whatever.“ She sighed as they now finished their cigarettes in a content silence.
But as soon as Akemi finished and turned around to walk inside, she felt Karube’s hand grabbing hers, twirling her around as she stumbled into his chest. He chuckled deeply as he glanced down at her while Akemi tried to control her racing heart.
„You’re an idiot, Karube.“ She hummed, looking up at him while trying to ignore their inappropriate closeness.
„Why?“
„Because you always do this.“ Akemi sighed, shaking her head slightly.
„What?“
„The flirting. All the time.“
Karube grinned slightly, lifting his hand and brushing a strand of hair behind her ear tenderly. „You don’t like my flirting?“ He asked while Akemi cursed herself for reacting to his touch so much, wanting to feel his hand not just brushing her cheek but all over her body. God, what was wrong with her?
„I didn’t say that.“ She muttered, „But I… I don’t like this… This game. I don’t like being played with. It’s confusing…“ Akemi mumbled, looking down at her feet. She was about to take a step back, wanting to bring a little space between them to be able to think more clearly, but Karube stopped her.
He placed his hand under her chin, forcing her to look up at him gently. „I would never, never play with you.“ He told her, looking down at her seriously.
„Karube…“
„If you really don’t want this, tell me now.“ He whispered, leaning a little closer. But Akemi just swallowed thickly, not stopping him as he smirked slightly.
And before she had the chance to chicken out, she felt his lips brushing hers, making her weak in the knees. It was the perfect mix of sweet and longing. Hot but careful. Simply perfect. Their lips moved against each other like they were made for each other, Akemi wrapping her arms around his neck while Karube placed one hand on the back of her head, the other sneaking around her waist.
Before they could deepen the kiss the balcony door got ripped open, the two immediately jumping apart. But it was too late, as Arisu was standing in the entrance staring between them with wide eyes, Chota behind him snickering loudly.
„No. No!“ Arisu yelled, focusing his eyes on Karube, glaring at his best friend. „You’re dead!“
