there’s a website where you put in two musicians/artists and it makes a playlist that slowly transitions from one musician’s style of music to the other’s
it’s really fun

So, there’s a reason that isn’t just “white people are more important”; I invite the reader to weigh the relative value of these.
In short, there’s no way for this to look good.
To reiterate, members of an internationally recognized charitable NGO, traveling in clearly marked vehicles, on a route negotiated with the IDF, through IDF-controlled territory, were killed by the IDF. There are really only two possible explanations.
Option One is that the Israeli government is not trustworthy. Option Two is that the military is out of control.
Option One implies that the people that the WCK were talking to couldn’t or didn’t clear the convoy with the military, making the convoy’s destruction a premeditated act by the Israeli government. That’s Bad.
Option Two implies that the military was told not shoot and ignored the order. How far down the line the no-shoot order was ignored is something for an investigation to determine, but at some level someone in IDF uniform decided to do a War Crime, against orders. That’s also Bad.
Option One is that the Israeli government has gone rogue, and cannot be trusted to abide by international law. Option Two is that the IDF is now ignoring orders that tell them things they don’t want to hear.

Let's start with the first image. I'm going to assume very minimal KH knowledge (Kingdom Hearts? that weird Disney meets Final Fantasy thing?). Also, spoilers.
From left to right, we have Sora, Vanitas, Roxas, and Ventus (in the top 2 pairs; below it goes Sora, Roxas, Vanitas, Ventus). Sora is the central protagonist of the franchise as a whole, and specifically the games: Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts III, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts: Coded (sort of), and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. Ventus is one of the 3 protagonists of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Roxas is the primary protagonist of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Vanitas is an enemy in KH: BbS.
Roxas is the Nobody of Sora, created when Sora lost his heart during KH1. Vanitus is a being of pure Darkness, made from the heart of Ventus. So Sora and Roxas are the same person (just with/without a heart), and Ventus and Vanitas are the same person (the good and evil halves of the original Ventus). For bonus points, Ventus lost his heart for a while, and it took refuge in Sora.
Second set of images. The top quartet is Riku, just at 4 different stages. Specifically, this is: Keyblade Master Riku (of KH:3D and KH3), Ansem!Riku, Dark Riku, and Way to the Dawn!Riku. He gets brainwashed in KH1 and becomes Dark Riku; takes control of his own Darkness during KH:CoM and becomes Way to the Dawn!Riku; gives into the Darkness for power at the finale of 358/2 Days and becomes Ansem!Riku; and rejoins the light and becomes Master Riku at the end of KH2, through KH:3D and into KH3.
The bottom quartet is: Riku; Ansem, Seeker of Darkness; the recreated Dark Riku (from KH3); and the Riku Replica. 3 and 4 are copies of Riku made at various points, while Ansem SoD is the one who brainwashed Riku during KH, and thus is the from Riku's Darkness takes.
Finally, the bonus meme. The old man is Master Xehanort (the villain), the young guy is Terra, and when Terra has silver hair he's Terra!Xehanort, or Terranort. Terra is an aspiring Keyblade Master, who has has Darkness inside of him and a -20 to his Insight checks. Terra spends his arc of Birth by Sleep doing the work of the bad guys for them, and in the end is possessed by Master Xehanort. After being defeated at the end of BBS, he loses his memories; unfortunately he regains them between the end of BBS and the beginning of KH1, where he becomes known as Ansem, Seeker of Darkness.

Man, this one had layers. Can’t even be mad.
of all Riccardo Estli's compositions, I think his "Katya's Waltz" from the Goncharov score is one of his most beautiful

I really think Rasputin lucked out, in that being remembered by history as some species of giant unkillable sex wizard is something most of us can only fruitlessly aspire to.

Alright, so here’s the basics.
The short answer is, Tesla lied. Musk’s $56,000,000,000 compensation package was proposed by a theoretically independent committee. The committee said that this was both appropriate and necessary. The problem is that the committee consisted of Musk, Musk’s brother, one person who did nothing, one genuine independent, and a handful of people who had strong personal or financial ties to Musk or Musk’s businesses.
In the "Not All Heroes..." dep't
"Richard Tornetta sued Musk in 2018, when the Pennsylvania resident held just nine shares of Tesla. The case eventually made its way to trial in late 2022 and on Tuesday a judge sided with Tornetta, voiding the enormous pay deal for being unfair to him and all his fellow Tesla shareholders."

People with low spoons, someone just recommended this cookbook to me, so I thought I’d pass it on.
I always look at cookbooks for people who have no energy/time to do elaborate meal preparations, and roll my eyes. Like, you want me to stay on my feet for long enough to prepare 15 different ingredients from scratch, and use 5 different pots and pans, when I have chronic fatigue and no dishwasher?
These people seem to get it, though. It’s very simple in places. It’s basically the cookbook for people who think, ‘I’m really bored of those same five low-spoons meals I eat, but I can’t think of anything else to cook that won’t exhaust me’. And it’s free!

The difference is two-fold, I think. The first is that in previous generations, even very recent ones, having a penis was a necessary component to live independently. Women simply couldn’t do things like open a bank account without a husband or father to co-sign. While legal discrimination is very, VERY far from being a solved issue, that particular level is.
The other is that the idea that a woman needs a man to be complete is simply not a major factor in GenZ psychology. And if they don’t need to have a man, there’s no reason to compromise their standards on the man they would accept.

To (roughly) quote Neil Gaiman: “I wouldn’t write that today. But it’s important that I wrote it then”.
Take Legends of Korra. Sure, modern day works can get away with a lot more when depicting same-sex relationships. The Owl House had a straight-up canon relationship, She-Ra spent multiple seasons with homoerotic tension as a selling point, etc. Korra spent most of her run getting teased with various guys before holding hands with Asami in the finale. But it walked so Catradora and Lumity could run.
I wish Tumblr would learn that you don't have to trash older, less explicitly gay works when something newer with more textual, explicit rep comes along.
how many creators watched explicitly gay stories be toned down in adaptation. how many got away with as much as they could get away with at the time and pushed the door open a little wider so a new thing could be even more open.
have a little respect and celebrate what we've achieved instead of dump on older works for not being as perfect as you'd like them to be

The material components for fireball are the ingredients for gunpowder.
It's been said before, but goddammit I love the material components for spells in D&D. They're so stupid.
Detect Thoughts requires a copper to cast. Gust of Wind needs beans. Sunbeam requires a magnifying glass. Passwall uses sesame seeds.
Darkvision needs fucking. Carrots.

He’s talking about Luke.
Not because Leia can’t; she could, if she wanted to.
But because Han Solo is too in love with Leia to refer to her as anything other than his wife.
Imagine Luke and Leia ending up in the clone wars era but all of their force abilities are “what the actual fuck?” levels of bullshit, and neither of them ever realized that the things they could do with the force were considered extremely high level techniques.
that is one of my FAVORITE things to imagine yes. To me this is less about ‘Skywalker bullshit’ (though there is some of that) and more about the training they (didn’t) receive.
The high-Midi-chlorians-actual-descendents-of-the-force thing makes it easier to tap into the force, makes it more possible to do so without accidentally exhausting yourself. But, in universe, under the right circumstances and with the properly channeled belief anyone can do anything. That’s why Palpatine had to make the galaxy want an empire, why his first strategy was misdirection and his top priority was crushing hope. Chirrut was supposedly force-null and he walked through an army. Han navigated that astroid field because he had to. The force is everywhere.
In an amusing but possibly unintended turn of events, 6-12 weeks of training in a swamp with an elderly frog who only talks in riddles without ever being exposed to Jedi culture except as a myth is actually IDEAL if you’re looking to maximize a Jedi’s raw strength. Most Jedi training that we see in the prequels is explicitly designed to put the breaks on a force-users raw power (for honestly very valid reasons). Channeling all violence through a single weapon that will start screaming if you get too violent, training to use it defensively, is definitely the soft-ball alternative to just squashing people like meatballs.
Meditating, wearing beige, the code, shunning attachments, all that stuff is built around making sure force users never run above first or second gear even in stressful situations (again valid, when you run your jedi in the red sometimes they become murder monsters). The downside of this is that when they’re forced to maintain that placid pace for years at a time (i.e: prolonged war), they’re much more likely to burn out.
When Yoda told Luke do or do not, told him a luminous being was he, told him size matters not, the amazing thing isn’t that Luke believed him. That was karking objectively provable. Yoda lifted a spaceship, so now Luke knows he can too if he just thinks he can. So he does. Vader and Palpatine conquered a galaxy. Luke believes he can stop worlds, crush armies, conquer planets and so he can.
The incredible thing about Luke is what he doesn’t do despite being tapped into the Force utterly free of mental restraint. Luke’s op character trait is his compassion, not his strength.
I assume at some point Luke puts Leia through a similar 2 month meditation class where he convinces her that her only limitations are the ones she imposes on herself. She has a complete meltdown when she realizes that she actually could have boiled Tarkin alive with her mind and saved Alderann. This causes a volcano to go off, devastating the ecology of a small moon. On the flight home, both of them slightly charred, she tells Luke that she wanted to focus on politics and didn’t really want to be a Jedi anyway. Luke nods quickly, supporting her decision, and resolves to seek out some Jedi texts about how to teach people they can do anything but also…maybe…not…anything.
And thus the Jedi order is reborn.
- - -
In the time travel version of this, it means that Luke is assuming that all of the Jedi are restraining themselves like he is. And they are, but they also aren’t, because their breaks are subconscious, built in since childhood, and have a lot of failsafes so even if they turn darkside they still restrain themselves pretty good (a la Dooku).
Leia is, again, less interested with the Jedi-specific aspects of the war (especially now that she doesn’t have to feel guilty about being one of the only people who can pick up that mantle) and more interested in the diplomatic side. Again, Palpatine can only succeed if the galaxy at large accepts this, and from where she’s standing they’re fucking moving in that direction. If being a Jedi is tapping into the mystical energy field that binds all living things together to channel it through one specific person in one specific place, then politics is manipulating that same power for a diffuse impact on as many people as possible.
This status-quo lasts until a major clone wars battle where Luke’s like ‘wait- the entire other side is sub-sentient droids? No living beings, and no droids with complex personality matrices? And they’re currently, actively killing living, sentient humans? Well kriff, come on! This is a no-brainer!’
Luke takes a deep breath. The air- it doesn’t disappear or anything- but it- it stops moving. It’s hard to explain…but breathing has an odd…resistance. The hair on the back of every clone’s neck stands up. Several get vaguely sea sick. One pukes a little. Plo Koon stumbles back, head ringing and afraid.
Luke Skywalker stands up and clenches his fists. 10,000 droids crumple like flimsi in the hands of a child. The battlefield is eerily quiet for a moment, then that imperceptible hum (which no one noticed until it stopped) fades and the air returns to its normal density. A few of the shinies start whooping, then the whole battalion is cheering.
Luke massages his temples, smiling wryly at Master Koon. “I guess I can see how that would get exhausting if you were doing it everyday.”
Plo Koon just stares.

Remember, there are two sexualities: straight and political. Same way there are two races: white and political. And two genders: male and political.
So Captain Underpants explores the friendship between a gay boy and a black bisexual boy and y’all wanna say Beauty and the Beast was the pinnacle of gay representation in children’s films huh

Every time Sean Astin makes a statement on whether or not Sam and Frodo were indeed gay for each other in lord of the rings he’s always like “well we have to acknowledge that attitudes around sexuality have changed dramatically over the past several decades and since authorial intent is only up to speculation, the story is open to multiple readings, some of which might have different significances for different groups of people also they kiss on the lips because I said so”

…I had almost exactly this happen in a campaign once.
The campaign was Way of the Wicked, a Pathfinder 1E AP written to play Evil characters. And not the Hell’s Vengeance “oh you can be Evil, but you don’t have to be”, I mean Evil Evil. Your campaign trait was pick which crime, that you definitely did commit, that earned you a life/death sentence Evil.
The final act of Book One was to take over a border fort, allowing the bugbear army in the north to invade the south. Since this would involve killing over a hundred guards, and the party is expected to be level 5-6, there are plenty of opportunities to shave off a few guess here and there. One of which, is the soup.
An old woman in town brings soup to the fort every week, and if the players help, they get a shot at poisoning the soup. Three of my players volunteered: the bard, the cleric, and the sorcerer. Each and every one of whom had 7 STR. This wouldn’t have mattered if it weren’t for the fact that they volunteered to help her move the heavy pot of soup. Eventually, the cleric’s Imp familiar started pushing, with it’s mighty 12 STR.
