#I’ve been taking a break from genshin for a while but I just got back this weekend and played this fight like a few minutes ago #anyways long story short this FUCKS and I love it so much. the way they collapse into each other’s arms when you defeat them is just.. UGHHH

Yeah a lot of people use it for showcasing but as for the in-game stuff there are five weapon types:

- Bow and arrow

- Polearm (aka lances or spears)

- swords

- claymores (big swords)

- catalysts (deals only magic damage, not physical)

All weapons have a normal and charged attack; swords, polearms, and claymores have a separate charged attack after either 3 or 5 swings/strikes.

In addition to these weapons types, characters are also assigned one of seven elements, each of which also has a playable patron god:

- Anemo (Air/Wind)

- Cryo (Ice) [Unreleased]

- Dendro (Plants)

- Electro (Electricity)

- Geo (Earth)

- Hydro (Water) [Unreleased]

- Pyro (Fire) [Unreleased]

Each of these elements have reactions with one another that enhance damage dealt to enemies during battle (hydro and cryo used in quick succession causes “frozen,” one of the most effective tactics.)

Finally, characters can also be equipped with five types of artifacts that enhance certain stats.

Players are able to switch between four selected characters at a time, and wander an open world; the continent is divided into regions under each God’s domain. At a statue of the area’s god, the main character can switch their elemental magic type (usually to solve region-specific puzzles.)

There are also frequent limited-time mini game events involving fetch quests, card games, hide and seek, and other various activities.

Every few weeks, a different “banner” goes up, allowing the players to use in-game currency called Primogems to “wish” for new gear and characters.

Players are given daily/weekly goals to earn said primogems, so while many people use in-app purchases to acquire these wishes, they aren’t strictly necessary to play the game.

In all honesty, I don’t really look anything up about the game, I just figure it out as I go. There’s probably something huge that I’m missing and people will yell at me about it in the comments and reblogs. I don’t engage all that much with the fanbase, I really just discuss and play it with my friends.

There’s definitely a lot of things about the game that can be criticized, including its lack of diversity in skin tone and body type, but overall I find the landscapes and lore interesting and comforting :)

[Plus I’m autistic so I love completing tasks; and the game has tons of little side quests for me to do when I need to feel productive. You can just trick your brain by doing fake tasks instead]

what are the actual game mechanics of genshin impact bc all i see is people buying anime girls and then buying swords to give them. however i've never seen anyone actually playing

#this is kind of a special interest for me soo #long post #i hope this helped op! #my dad introduced me to it over quarantine and we bonded over it #the graphics are just GORGEOUS and I think the storylines are actually pretty interesting #the MC is a universe-hopper who was fighting a god with their twin sibling and got separated from them as they fell into Teyvat (the world.) #so now they have to meet with each of the elemental gods here and find them #yes. people are horny over the characters. but I try to stay away from that side of the fanbase #also it’s been accused of being a botw knockoff but I’ve never played the Zelda game so I can’t really speak on that
