Paris weighs the benefits and complications of loving Antheus.

When Paris first saw Antheus, it was his fourth week in Troy, standing out in front of the walls with Hector at his side. He heard his laugh before anything else. It was loud, drawing Paris’ attention away from Hector and their conversation as it echoed up the hill. Paris could almost feel the vibrations in his own chest even if he stood several feet away from him.

The pair appeared: Deiphobos and Antheus. He watched as Deiphobos wrapped his arm around Antheus' neck and the man laughed again, muffling his sound in the Deiphobos’ shoulder as they climbed up the hill.

There was something infectious about it, the pure energy that seemed to radiate off of Antheus to others around him that Paris couldn't stop himself from asking, “Who is that companion of Deiphobus?” whilst he pushed down the stirring in his stomach.

Hector frowned, visibly irritated. “Does it matter?”

"Please." Paris grinned

Hector shook his head but conceded, “Fine. He is Antheus. A noble, son of Antenor.”

“Antheus,” Paris repeated. The name stuck closely to his chest.

Hector raised an eyebrow but if he had any reservations he remained silent.

Hektor's acceptance of having been beaten in the athletic funeral games for his "dead" little brother by some random pretty boy slave in Euripides' Alexandros is such a nice character beat.

He's all like "it's fine, I don't mind. And while I might understand why you're upset, murder is NOT the answer."

Deiphobos, meanwhile; "murder absolutely is the answer I have never been so insulted IN MY FUCKING LIFE and mom says it's okay, too, so."

filterable picrew database!

hey pals!! i'm working on a filterable, tagged collection of picrew i like. right now there's over 100 picrew (and other such makers such as those from neka or meiker) in there with tags for things like fashion, hair options, skin colors, specific features like horns or headscarves, and body types. you can search for multiple tags at a time and filter out tags you don't want. the whole thing is organized in a big grid of sample results from the picrew in question, so you can see the style at a glance and click it for more images and the url, but you can change the view and organization system however you like.

the link is here!!! feel free to share this wherever. i'm still going through my folders and adding more makers, so expect lots of updates real soon.

i'm hoping this makes it easier for people to find picrew that suit them and their characters, especially in cases where it's unfortunately harder to find certain features like dark skin options and fat bodies.

really important notes:

i do not take requests for additional tags. sorry!! please understand that every time i want to use a new tag, i have to manually go into every maker in the entire backlog and check to see if they have it. it's a pain! it takes a while! there's only one of me! the only circumstance under which i'm willing to add a new tag is if you're willing to go through the backlog and link me every picrew that needs the tag, and i can use it going forward.

if something is tagged wrong, i need to know which maker it is so i can fix it. you need to tell me! the most useful way to send me a specific picrew is a direct link, or the artist name (which will be the title when you click into the item in the database). sometimes i get vague comments like "there are makers in x tag that don't fit" and no one EVER follows up with which ones they are so i can't FIX IT.

one big thing that you can do to help me with this database is take one of the links on my tba page and tell me what tags apply to it. literally just one! enough folks see and use this resource that just a few people taking one takes a load off my plate.

The Trojan royal family tree*! (*Almost complete! I'm sure you'll forgive me for the oversight of not including all of Priam's children, either by Hecuba or other secondary wives/concubines.)

You're going to want to full-view; as complicated as this one is I didn't want to make it smaller and then make it harder to read. (Though even full view doesn't fully help so I'll try to summarise under the cut:)

-Helen and Paris' children aren't part of any main tradition, and neither is Oxynios, mentioned by Konon, but I wanted to include them! -Eriope is named as the mother of at least Hippodamia in Iliad scholia (here made the mother of all Anchises' non-demigod children). -Eurydike, daughter of Priam and Hecuba, is named this in the Kypria; otherwise known as Kreusa. - The genealogy for Lakoon comes from Hyginus' Fabula 135. -Eioneus is named by Pherekydes as the son of either Proteus (the sea god) or Sangarios. Obviously I chose Sangarios. -Tenes is the son of Proklia and Apollo, with Kyknos is nominal/mortal father. -Batia has no named mother, so while she might be a nymph or the daughter of one, I didn't colour her circle as such, since we can't know. -Elymos and Aineias' two daughters are mentioned in Roman Antiquities by Dionysios of Halikarnassos. -Ploutus is divine, while his brother Philomelos is mortal.
