How do you feel about the grumps changing with age? Do you think you could watch them forever, or will you find somebody else to fill the youtuber gap they leave behind? As much as I love them I feel like they are slowly sliding off my list of changing youtubers. So much is different now it feels like they are old friends I don't talk to anymore, and I'm not sure if it's them or me. I would love to know how you feel, even about other youtubers!!
Thank you so much for this question!
As someone who has been on YouTube for a decade, I have had many interests and people I watch over the years. A lot of them come and go.
The Grumps have been a pretty constant one overall. You can tell by my post history that at times I have become less engaged with them, taking year breaks at times. But overall there has usually been something they post that I will watch. As I’ve gotten older, I have become less of a games person. However, they will still post one offs and live content, which I eat up like a fiend. I think they will continue to stick with me for a long time. I am lucky to say GG have never really felt out of place in my content rotation, but plenty of other YouTube channels have. Shout out to Achievement Hunter, rest in piece.
But I think what you feel is very normal. Both watchers and YouTubers change with time, and it is natural to no longer find enjoyment with content that doesn’t speak to you. It does become more nostalgic than entertainment.
Again, thank you for the question! Asks are always open, for both GG and other stuff.
My favorite funny moment that came out of the Watcher streaming announcement was people asking Miles (from the Try Guys) about the Watcher streaming service while he was live on YouTube and as he was about to speak a whiteboard fell directly onto his face and he took it as a sign from the universe not to speak
