Let’s face it, that when you hear Indonesia, it’s always BALI – it’s more on watching sunsets in the beach, seeing monkeys everywhere, party all night long and beautiful temples which they are known for. But looking on its other side, Indonesia is also known for having the most active volcanoes in the world and you can actually find one in Bali – Mt. Batur.
If you’re an adventure junkie, Mt. Batur (Gunung Batur) must be in your bucket list – hiking to the top of an active volcano and watching a beautiful sunrise to start your day.
 What to bring:
Self with determination
Proper hiking attire, sandals will do
Flashlight
Wind-breaker (it’s cold at the top)
Sunglasses
Sunblock lotion
Here’s our proposed Itinerary if you’re doing a DIY:
2:00 AM – Leave your hotel
3:30 AM – Drop-off at the trekking starting point
4:00 AM – Start to trek
6:00 AM – Mount Batur’s peak and watch sunrise
7:30 AM – Start to descend
10:00 AM – Trekking Starting point
Usually, it takes 1.5 – 2 hour drive to the trekking starting point if you’re coming from Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud area. From the starting point, there are a lot of tour guides waiting and actually presenting themselves as it became the local’s means of living. You can also rent wind-breaker and jackets as there are locals lurking while you’re figuring out the next thing to do.

Trekking starting point
There are motorcycles that can be rented to help you reach the peak, but it’s always sweeter to watch the sunrise when you earned it – sweating. Promise, the trek isn’t hard and you need not to be physically fit in order to reach the peak, you just need determination and you’ll thank yourself for actually adding this in your itinerary.
These are some snaps of the view, sunrise and another active volcano in Bali, Indonesia – Mt. Agung.
Hello, Mr. Sun
And since, you started the trek in the dark, you’ll be surprised on what more you can see within the area.

When you descend and reach the halfway point, you’ll then take a different road – a flat road and some crops that are well planted.

There you go, the best sunrise in Bali, Indonesia is in the peak of Mt. Batur.
Where can you find the best sunrise in Bali? Let’s face it, that when you hear Indonesia, it’s always BALI – it’s more on watching sunsets in the beach, seeing monkeys everywhere, party all night long and beautiful temples which they are known for.

One of the famous beach in Nusa Penida Island - Kelingking beach. Beautiful view when you reach the drop off point but it takes bravery to actually see what lies in it. #gallivantCouple #TeamConstantTogetherness #PatGelNeverStops https://www.instagram.com/p/BtYUKwnARnU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4kgp3lbva3ao

Masbate – another unfamiliar province of the Philippines and eventually emerged as one of the country’s top destinations. The island which made the province to its fame is Animasola Island which means ‘Lonely Soul’, a stunning rock formation.

Tracing The Roots: A journey to the Ancestral Hometown
Tracing The Roots: A journey to the Ancestral Hometown
Long before when SCTEx (Subic, Clark, Tarlac Expressway) and TPLEx (Tarlac, Pangasinan, La Union Expressway) hasn’t constructed, the hours spent going to Ilocos Norte can take you up to 12+ hours. Ohh, not to mention, there’s only few bus companies that reach Ilocos Norte – most of the time, up to Laoag only.
Luckily, SCTEx and TPLEx were constructed and the tourism of the Northern provinces,…

We’ll be sharing with you how we’re able to manage our first out of the country travel and how naive we were during the entire tour from our “OOTD’s” (Outfit Of The Day) to food selections, and itinerary.
It was first quarter of 2012 when we started earning and save-up for our July 2012’s Hong Kong tour. It’s our own expenses so we thought we can splurge all the money we have and not stick with a budget. So here it goes, since it was our first plane ride together we took photo of the clouds and the plane wings. Who doesn’t, right?
When we arrived in Hong Kong, we were delighted with how big their airport is and fast their trains are. We first left our baggage in the hotel room, changed for our “OOTD” (which is not known before), and went to Hong Kong Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth as they say. We were very excited to enter the theme park but first we had our late lunch. The restaurant near the entrance is where we had our late lunch which is more expensive than those in the center part which is a food court type. And waaaait, no RICE!!!
And as we gained energy, we continue exploring the theme park. We tried almost all of their attractions. We took photos. And taking photos means having tripod as our companion. Look at some of our photos photobombed by fellow tourists.
And our reactions?
The best reactions we can show
Good thing we have some good photos that we can share.
Ohh, and can you believe we just spent 2 days in Hong Kong? On our second day, we squeezed 3 tourist attractions in one day. Gel even had a fever that day and their supposed 6 am tour was moved to around 9am.
The tour started in Ngong Ping, then Ocean Park and luckily we made it on time for The Peak.
Ngong Ping
Ocean Park
Victoria Peak
But wait, we just noticed that Gel already somehow friendzoned Pat?
And one of the most common poses for everyone? ‘Pogi’ (handsome) shots and the approved pose.
And really? Have you checked our “ootd’s”? Couple shirts from Vigan, Ilocos Sur and Tagaytay!! And wearing havs!! LOL!!
And when portraying different emotions and different poses with these backgrounds, HAHAHA!!
We’re just so happy looking back on the ‘neneng’ and ‘totoy’ pictures of us and reminiscing how we started to love traveling.
Throwback to PatGel’s first out-of-the country – Hong Kong We'll be sharing with you how we're able to manage our first out of the country travel and how naive we were during the entire tour from our "OOTD's" (Outfit Of The Day) to food selections, and itinerary.

Catanduanes - Bicolandia's Rising Gem
Catanduanes – Bicolandia’s Rising Gem
To be honest, Catanduanes is not a renowned province in the Philippines until its Binurong point, known to be the Batanes of the Catandungans (people of Catanduanes), is publicized. There’s no reason for us not to include this on our travel list, and definitely with people we share the same passion and interests – travel and photography.
Last December 2016, Catanduanes was hit by typhoon Nina,…
