I just finished midnight collection and I was wondering, is the cast consistent in personality? It seemed strange how many changes there were from the stories you've already translated.( Sakagami Hosoda and Seiko seemed the oddest) is there anything canon in Gakukowa? And is Emi supposed to be so bitchy?

The cast is pretty consistent through the first game, the PS version, and then the later Apathy 1995 特別編. The other games seem to feature exaggerated, really extreme versions of their characters. And Emi’s just a regular girl in S.

There are around 20 new stories in the PS version!

Yeah, I only found out about the game by browsing some pixiv artists’ galleries!

And I actually did consider that, and wanted to, but gave up on trying to find a good screen-capture program;; I would still like to if you know of any good software!

Are there any fanfics comics or videos in english related to the game? I don't mean to sound ungrateful but I'd like do more beyond using google translate on fan works I find, like things to do to wait for updates thank you so much.

I don’t know of any English fanworks about the game at all! (hopefully that’ll change!) But I’m not sure if you know about it, but a spinoff to the game, Apathy Midnight Collection Vol. 1, has been fully translated and patched. The main story features the same characters as here.

Because fangirls lol. The fangirls just love him for some reason.

The girl in the mask is a spoiler-ish character who appears during the “true end” of the game. She reveals the answers to a lot of the mysteries surrounding the school and the seven wonders meeting to Sakagami.

Shindo Makoto

A guy who likes sports, any kind of sports. Will joke around while telling his story or try to scare you. That kind of guy. Also gets scared easily himself. Sakagami doesn’t seem to really have a problem with him.

Arai Shoji

A quiet, angsty guy. He either mumbles or shouts; he has no in-between. He seems to have a somewhat heroic personality, and that’s probably why he’s so antagonistic towards Kazama (my own theory). Sakagami seems to get along with him the best.

Kazama Nozomu

His hobbies seem to be messing with people and chasing girls. In general has a bad attitude but tries to make you think he’s a nice guy. This doesn’t work. Sakagami hates him so much that just being in the room alone with him gives you a bad end.

Iwashita Akemi

A yandere and a narcissist, she’s a girl who always speaks her mind. You don’t want to get on her bad side, but you don’t really want to be on her good side either. Has unfortunately taken a liking to Sakagami. The fandom calls her Ma-oh, or Demon Lord.

Hosoda Tomoharu

He’s pretty obsessed with making friends. And bathrooms. He has an excellent sixth sense and a some-what delusional, stalkerish personality. He’s basically a joke character (his name containing the character for “thin”). Poor guy.

Fukuzawa Reiko

An upbeat girl who jokes around a lot. She has a somewhat cruel sense of humor and tells terribly gorey stories. She’ll also often try to give you unsolicited life advice. Doesn’t seem to have any sort of relation to the supernatural like the others do. She’s just a regular crazy girl.

Sakagami Shuuichi

Your average quiet high school boy I guess. He’s the kind of guy who would rather read during break then talk with classmates. Has incredible self-preservation skills when backed into a corner. Hates everyone above (for good reason) unless stated otherwise.

Thanks for such a quick response! The Arai one is with the reincarnated samurai thing right? On an unrelated note are they still producing works for the series?

I’m not sure if a samurai appears or not, but it’s the one with Arai’s past life’s brother. 

The series does have some releases every few years, though this is pretty much just through spinoffs. The last thing released was a series of light novels written by series creator/writer Iijima Takiya and illustrated by Himaruya Hidekaz in 2014. None of the characters are the same, but it follows the same sort of formula.

Iijima seems to really love the series, or at least writing scary stories, and his doijin group Nanacorobi-Hachicorogari has made quite a few spinoffs. (Here’s a list of most of them)

The last time the specific characters in this game showed up was in the visual novel Gakkou de Atta Kowai Hanashi 1995特別編 released in 2009/2010, a sort of retelling of the original game with all-new stories.

Fukuzawa Reiko story 1: “Classmate Sanae’s Strange Behavior”

One could easily say that all high schoolers are a little weird. However, one girl in Fukuzawa Reiko's class takes this to a new extreme. Just what is Sanae's secret...?

Shindo Makoto’s second story: “The Candy Granny”

With warts on her wrinkled face and a big hooked nose, she looks just like a witch. But her candy is said to be the most delicious thing in the world. What happens to those lucky enough to get a taste...?

Iwashita Akemi’s third story: “The Portrait in the Art Room”

A painting left behind in the art room. Who is its owner? And what of the rumors that it's cursed...?

This is a really weird question but after the Iwashita scenario, I was wondering are any of the other story tellers interested in Sakagami romantically? You're doing such an amazing job!

Haha good question! Kazama does have one ending where he tries to marry Sakagami, and he’s the one most often paired with Sakagami in fanworks.

I swear Arai is interested in him but that’s just me. There’s scenes like when Sanae proposes to Sakagami, Iwashita and Arai are the only ones who don’t look happy about it. Coming from a story in the PS remake S, you’ll also see a lot of fanworks of Arai having a huge brother complex towards Sakagami (it’s complicated.)

Meanwhile Sanae and Sakagami are pretty much the game’s “official couple.”

I'm curious I got here from playing Midnighy Collection but do Emi and San as appear in this one?(sorry if its a stupid question)

By San do you mean Sanae? Sanae plays a major role in 3 stories in this game. (The first of which is the next on my list to be translated!)

Emi was a character only introduced in the later Playstation remake “Gakkou de atta Kowai Hanashi S”. S introduced the ability to play as either a male or female protagonist, and Emi was the female choice.
