@blue-eyed-priest from here
Imhotep gave a soft sigh at Seto’s words, feeling at least somewhat better about his current physical state. Ever since he returned to the palace in his current fused state, he was having a little trouble summoning monsters. The only monster he could summon with ease was Kuriboh, but that was most likely due to the little creatures taking a liking to him. He could summon as many as he wanted with no effort.
Anything else, however either didn’t work or backfired and the monster attacked him. Imhotep supposed it was due to his Ba and Ka fusion that the monsters acted like they did. They must have trouble recognizing him as a human and see him as a threat instead. However, this was the first time he summoned a family member rather than a monster.
Fortunately, only his ability to use summoning magic was somehow affected by his fused state. Everything else worked fine when he used magic.
He gave a hum of happiness when Seto put his shoulder in a warm, gentle grip of encouragement. It was nice to have people who loved and supported you regardless of what happened in the past. Nabibi especially benefited from this kind of love, as she had always been a fragile spirit emotionally.
“Thank you, Seto. Your words mean more than you realize. I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to summon anything outside of Kuriboh that won’t backfire, but at least every other skill I have wasn’t affected negatively by the fusion ritual.”
He closed the book with a soft thud and set it aside, yawning slightly and getting up to stretch.
“I should really check up on the little ones. Gods know how well Atem can handle babysitting all three of them on his own. Horus by himself feels like the equivalent of three kids at once due to his seemingly limitless energy, and while I’m used to him; many others aren’t.”

infinite-conundrums:
Atem didn’t know how to respond as he listen to Horus speak.
Names were something so inherently important in their culture that forgetting ones name would be like forgetting to breathe- forgetting to live. It’s a daunting prospect that filled his core with an uneasy dread.
Neferu hadn’t believed the small child when he had spoken of a ghost though, truly, he should have. When a womans voice spoke clearly around them the mans hand was on the hilt of his sword before he even thought better of it. Atem placed his hand over the taller mans hand and let his sangria eyes drift past the tall man and landed on the small spectre. A warm smile stretched across the pharaoh’s features as he stepped beside his chief guard. A small bow of his head showed his respect.
“Hello, ‘Ghosty’.”
Neferu looked down at the small pharaoh and then to the small girl that stood before him and flushed awkwardly. He bowed his head and looked away meekly, saying nothing, but moved his hands and placed them behind his back.
Atem’s eyes lit up at the idea of seeing Imhotep again. Neferu himself seemed to brighten, albeit more subtly, and Atem squeezed past the bulkier man to slip into the house.
“Thank you for allowing us entry, Ghosty.” Atem smiled wider but his eyes were scanning the room. “Do you know where Imhotep may be? I’m very eager to speak with him.”
Ghosty watched the exchange between the Pharaoh and the head guard with slight amusement. She had expected at least one of them to be on guard when she revealed herself, but to see a grown man look so bashful at his mistake made her giggle.
“You’re not the first person to be surprised by me, friend. And you certainly won’t be the last.”
She looked at Neferu as she spoke, swaying side to side with a hum of content. Horus, on the other hand zooms off to another room holding the necklace before anyone else has the chance to speak. Ghosty sighs at the short attention span of the child before turning to Atem with a bow of respect herself.
“A pleasure to meet you, Pharaoh. Imhotep has always spoken so highly of you. He truly misses your company...” She trails off, looking in the direction that Horus ran off to in the house with a slightly sad look in her spectral eyes.
“Even if Horus hadn't led you here, I would have let you in regardless.”
Her voice continued its jovial tone as she began to float in the direction that Horus went.
“Imhotep’s sleeping in a room farther back. Just be wary where you step when you enter. There are two other children that he adopted and one of them in particular tends to sleep in inconvenient places.”
As she led Atem and Neferu to the room where the other prince slept, she spoke once more.
“Horus has gone to return the necklace to Imhotep, as it seems to keep away those nightmares that plague him.”

infinite-conundrums:
Listening in rapt interest, Atem began to move in that direction. He didn’t care how far he had to walk; he’d walk miles and miles through the vast desert to see his brother again.
“Do you know her name, Horus?” The pharaoh asked the small boy on his hip as he imagined a ghost like figure hiding behind a doorway like a frightened and lonely child. “Seems like she made good friends in you and your brothers, little one.” The smile Atem wore was sweet, yes, but a little melancholy.
Truthfully, the walk wasn’t as long as the young king expected. Atem tended to ignore the soft footsteps that followed his every movement when he was in public, but as the sun faded behind golden dunes and the people became less and less frequent, he was glad Neferu was overprotective of him. The tall guards face was, heh, guarded as his normally warm brown eyes scanned the area around them.
Neferu didn’t understand what Horus meant when he said ghost girl, and Atem gave him a ‘Kids, right? What can you do?’ kind of expression as he walked up towards the door.
“You all live here..?” Atem inquired as he let a ringed hand gingerly drift over the old home. Sangria and brown eyes scanned the decrepit house in a forlorn pity.
‘Next time we have a meeting of budgeting, I’ll bring up this section of my kingdom’ The young pharaoh thought to himself.
Smiling down at Horus’ bright green gaze, and added, “It’s very cute,” and set the child down so he could open the door for them. Neferu, as per usual, walked in front of the king and Atem huffed a laugh at the chief guard.
Horus was excited to return home to his big brothers. The ankh had ceased to glow now as Atem asked for the girl’s name. A sad look crossed the small boy’s face as he shook his head in that regard.
“She died so long ago, remembering her name is hard. We just call her Ghosty. She seems to like that name. And big brother Imhotep always stays up talking to her when she gets sad about not remembering her past life. He’s really good with helping others out like that.”
The child gave a nod to Atem’s question of living in the abandoned home.
“The house is just a bit dusty, but other than that it’s still fur... furni...furnished? Was that the word Imhotep used when we got here? It’s so hard to say...”
The added comment of the house being cute caused a female voice to ring out from within.
“It’s... cute? I’ve never heard anyone say that about a house. You sure are a silly Pharaoh, mister.”
When Neferu opened the door, he came face to face with the spirit of a young girl. She looked to be around 8 years old, and gave a heartwarming smile at the visitors.
“Welcome back, Horus! Imhotep fell asleep before he could look for you again, so you should return the necklace to him before he gets one of those nightmares again. I hate hearing him in pain like that...”

“Atem, It’s Seto we’re talking about here. His emotional capability ranges between anger, sadistic glee and no emotion at all.”
Imhotep says as he takes a bite of his hamburger, trying to hold back a small giggle. When he swallowed the food, he quickly looks around for their cousin before speaking again.
“And if you’re worried about the teaspoon, don’t be. It’s more what the teaspoon did to Seto than what it did to me. His smiles kill puppies around the globe.”

(Probs just gonna have them be Yami and Yugi in any modern verses)  I have very little ideas to start out, but if any Atems/Yamis want in on the verse just IM me. I really wanna thread something like this!//

Jabari gives his elder brother a soft smile, even though he can clearly tell that Akefia was hurting from his mere presence alone. He had waited so long to meet with his beloved brother again. Through hell and torture, he had endured it all.
“Akefia... I’m here because I wanted to reconnect with you. The past is the past, and people are sometimes bound to change. I waited ever so patiently to get out of servitude and return to your side...” He paused, tears falling from his face as he gently took his brother’s hand.
“We were dealt a cruel hand in life, brother. and given even crueler cards as life progressed. I think.. That time has passed now. Things have immensely changed for me and those that I’ve befriended during our years apart. Some have departed for the afterlife, but others are still among the living, but there is one person still missing from my life...”
The tears fell more rapidly now as Jabari was on the verge of sobbing. Clutching Akefia’s hand a little tighter.
“You’re the only blood family I have left, brother! Please... Don’t send me away! I don’t care about the past anymore! I just... want to move forward now...”

The young duelist looked between each blink of his crystalline eyes, at the dragon that had come to comfort him, he could feel that feeling of empathy coming from her, making his sobs diminish more and more.
It feels warm. the way in which she licked each cheek of him, the sensation of the wing falling on his back, those special details seemed the care of a mother, which provoked in Judai a smile even more defined and in spite of the appearance, he was not afraid of she, her form, her touch, was very similar to when yubel used to appreciate him, although now, neither yubel nor her mother are with him, that special dragon, had brought to him a feeling for dear, the feeling of affection.
Judai could also feel that personal space she was creating, isolated for a moment from human spacetime, causing his bond with her to be more compatible, even, such care had made him try to touch her pointed head, gently, like sign that he was grateful for what she was doing for him.
“Now I am fine.” He said, still trembling from the tears, from the feeling of agony but, now he was better, he could breathe once more. —”Thanks to you. Although for now I think I’m fine here with you, so please, don’t leave me.”
Dalila was relieved when the child responded positively to her gentle affection. She despised seeing anyone cry, especially when one was as young as this boy. True, he was a teenager in human years. But when you’ve lived over 5,000 years even the oldest of humans you meet is but a mere child to you.
Her purring grew louder as he touched the top of her head, where the blue gem rested on her forehead. It gently glowed for a moment before stopping, a symbol that the dragon god inside her acknowledged his existence. It was rare that it noticed anyone, being mostly dormant after the fusion occurred. But sometimes it acknowledged humans it deemed worthy.
What a lucky child.
“I will stay as long as you need me to, young one. I will not move until I know you can stand comfortably on your own two feet.”
He reminded her of her older brothers, Imhotep and Atem in their childhood days. How both of them would stop at nothing to make sure she felt safe and happy. Whenever she saw a child in the throes of tears, she could never ignore their plight.
Upon further inspection of his face, she felt a tear slip from her mortal eyes. Minus the lighter skin color, this boy was the splitting image of Horus. Though there was one question she needed to ask in order to confirm her suspicions that she had just come across the reincarnation of the Star Child she had loved so dearly.
“Child? You don’t happen to have a good friend by the name of Neos, do you? A brother of mine long ago received his Ka from the stars, and that Ka went by Neos. You bear a striking resemblance to my younger brother in the days of old. A brother who has long since passed on into the afterlife.”
Dalila shook her head to clear her thoughts. Words could not describe how much she missed Horus, Lateef and Jono. The then children brought so much joy into her heart.
“My apologies. I was caught up in the memories of years past. Is there anything I can do to help you feel better? Hugs and cuddles are always allowed, but I’m able to use magic. Sometimes a retreat into the Soul Room is a good idea when you feel your heart shattering.”

infinite-conundrums:
Atem listened to what the child said as he nodded for one of his guards to come closer. By now the Pharaoh had gathered a small crowd of people with curiosity and nothing better to do with their time around him and he purchased a sweet pastry for young Horus.
“Why don’t we go find your other siblings first, yes?” He spoke to the child as the guard came up behind the young king. “Then we can go find Imhotep.” The guards face contorted into shock and the captain gently placed a hand on the young king’s shoulder. Atem looked up at the taller man and spoke quietly and quickly.  “This child says he’s been living with Imhotep and even holds the necklace I gave him before he-” His voice cracked ans subconsciously held the smaller child closer to his chest.
“Don’t worry, Horus, Neferu and I will help find Imhotep and your brothers.” He offered the babe the sweets he had just purchased. “Here.”
Neferu whistled for his second in command and before Horus could even ask what the captain was doing the second guard ran off with gusto. The dark skinned captain glared at the growing crowd and began shooing them off, loud barking commands of “Go back to your business!” and “Continue on!” driving the horde of people away.
“Now,” Atem spoke again, shifting the child so Horus sat on his hip, “Where was the last time you saw your big brothers? Guide me there.”
Horus was very pleased with himself. He completely ignored the people who had begun to gather around him and Atem, his eyes focusing solely on the Pharaoh's own. Green eyes brightened in surprise and gratitude as Atem purchased a sweet treat for him. He took it with a polite, yet eager thank you and munched down on the treat, His eyes going wide as he savored the taste.
Childlike wonder emanated from Horus’s eyes as he watched the guards speak with Atem and shoo the crowd away. They looked so cool! They must be happy with the ‘current state of the kingdom’s affairs’ as Imhotep always said when he watched any walk by their hideout.
To be honest, Horus was never bothered by the crowds, and instead nuzzled into Atem’s neck with a contented sigh when Atem shifted him to rest on his hip. His green eyes seemed to glow brightly in the night as he pointed in the direction of his current home with Imhotep’s Ankh necklace.
“I can take you there, but please be respectful when you enter. There’s a really sad ghost girl who’s trapped in the home, and she may greet you. Just don’t be surprised if you see or hear a young girl in the home. She’s very happy to have some company after being alone for so long, so she lets us stay there.”
As the pair make their way to Imhotep, the Ankh begins to softly glow. As Horus gives directions, the glow increases in brightness until an abandoned house at the edge of the poorest section of town comes into view.
“Here we are! Remember to say hello to the ghost girl when you come in! She really likes that!”

Dalila didn’t realize the human had seen her at first, opting to speak another round of Arabic before finally noticing.
"aietaqadat 'ana misr kanat sayiyatan mae alhararat alshadidat , walakun alshita' kharij almanzil 'aswa bkthyr min hataa 'akthar al'ayam sukhunat fi alwatn!"
The sound of a human droning on about something got her head to turn and face them, wondering what had happened as she was muttering to herself.
Eyes widened in shock as she realized that the human could see her. How? She was using magic to only project herself in the spiritual realm. The realm where ghosts who could not pass on roamed in the thousands. Invisible to nearly every mortal in the world, this human should have been oblivious to her existence.
Her head tilted in confusion as she turned her body slightly to get a better look at the female. Her eyes widened at the uncanny resemblance to a certain younger adopted brother of hers.
She shook slightly, shaking her head rapidly to get out of the Arabic language and into one that she knew the girl could understand.
“Jono? No... It can’t be... You must be his reincarnation.”
A soft, friendly smile found its way to Dalila’s muzzle as she gave a small nod of respect.
“Apologies, miss. You look strikingly similar to a younger sibling of mine. This might be why you are able to see me. I do not exist on the same plane of existence as you, yet your eyes are not failing you.”
Dalila gave the possible reincarnation of her younger brother a worried look.
“Am I the only one you see that looks out of place?”

Dalila could clearly see how much the child was hurting, and instinctively trotted over to comfort him. She began to do one of the few things that seemed to help most humans stop crying quickly. Licking their tears.
She laid down to better comfort the stranger, radiating concern as she slowly began to put a wing around Judai in a protective and comforting manner.
Careful not to accidentally harm him with her draconic lower jaw, her head was tilted at a slightly awkward angle. But she purred nonetheless in an attempt to stem the flow of tears and keep more from falling. Crying is better stopped when the person feels safe in their surroundings, and the wing wasn’t just hiding Judai’s tears from view.
Dalila was offering him a dark place to hide and recover. It worked for most other humans, and she hoped he would feel safe by her gesture. Light was still shining outside the dark space, as she had not completely put him in darkness. She was more giving him a temporary tent or room to calm down.
She sighed, slowly laying her head on her front paws after a while to give him some space. Her head was facing him, though. The purring slightly echoing around her, her first mouth opened to speak.
“Are you alright, little one?”
Dalila asked in a soft, caring tone.
“I became worried when I heard your spirit crying in agony and hurried over to try and cheer you up. Let me know if you need anything. I won’t let anyone come near you if you wish to be left in peace.”

“Remember when I said I don’t give a fuck?”
Dalila spoke in a monotone voice as she ate her kill, looking straight at the other who had just approached and asked her something.
“I still don’t give any fucks. I’m hungry and not in the mood for this kind of bullshit.”

Doctor Who — Mummy on the Orient Express  {Sentence Starters}
“I want to bargain for my life.“
“Don’t you dare lie to me, girl.“
“You mean you can’t save me?”
“Why am I even talking to you?”
“So, hurry up, before it kills you.”
“Are you? Have you ever been sure?“
“Keep talking. Don’t waste this chance.“
“I really thought I hated you, you know?“
“Because you lied. You lied to me, again.“
“Do you ever wish bad things on people?”
“It’ll be all right, miss. Just come with me.”
“Hey, listen. You didn’t do anything wrong.“
“So, you were pretending to be heartless…”
“It’s passing right through you, like a ghost.“
“You seemed happy asleep, so I just left you.”
“Look, look, please, can we just not do this now?“
“I did. I did hate you. In fact, I hated you for weeks.“
“I can’t tell if you’re a genius or just incredibly arrogant.“
“You know, I’m going to have to mark you down for this.“
“Is there some sort of fancy dress thing on this evening?“
“Yes, this is probably the end for you. But, make it count.“
“Well, of course not for you, because you’re going to die.“
“This is not a myth. This is real. Forget your superstitions.“
“I’m sorry. I know that must have been distressing for you.“
“Do you love being the man making the impossible choice?“
“Do you want me to move? Because I can certainly do that.“
“Life would be so much simpler if you liked the right people.“
“I was saying goodbye. You can’t end it on a slammed door.“
“This is my life, my death. I’m going to fight for it how I want.”
“Or, here’s a crazy thought: we could do something to stop it.”
“No matter how far you run, it’s always right there behind you.“
“A man just died in front of us. Can we not just have a moment?“
“And there’s that smile again. I don’t even know how you do that.“
“Would you like to think that about me? Would that make it easier?“
“Lie to her. Tell her I can save her. Whatever it takes to get her here.“
“Where would we all be if we all followed our job descriptions, hmm?“
“I think anybody could do with a little bit of help after a day like today.“
“Just because he brought me somewhere cool, I shouldn’t dump him?“
“How many people have to die before you stop looking the other way?“
“Look, as long as you get me home safe and on time, everything is great.“
“A cynical man might say that you were trying to pump me for information.“
“es, let’s just sit around and wait for the evidence while the bodies pile up…”
“And this is just a guess, but I think you’ve had the fight knocked out of you.“
“Do you… do you do that? Do you come round to people’s houses for dinner?“
“Actually, seeing it in the flesh isn’t nearly as rewarding as I thought it might be.“
“You knew. You knew this was no relaxing break. You knew this was dangerous.“
“’Course, there’s a rumor that someone or something else might be responsible.”
“You know, if you think that there is nothing to worry about, then that is fine by me.“
“Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones. But, you still have to choose.”
“That’s why I chose this field, to be honest. Hoping one day I might meet a real monster.“
“Look, what I’m trying to say is, I don’t hate you. I could never hate you. But, I can’t do this anymore.“
“It’s the sad smile. It’s a smile but you’re sad. It’s confusing. It’s like two emotions at once. It’s like you’re malfunctioning.“
