annabeth taking the knife for percy was peak impulsiveness at that stage of their relationship. because up until this point of the series. if i'm remembering correctly. all of annabeth actions were calculated. even her stubborn actions had merit. but taking the knife? knowing he was invulnerable? but taking the knife? knowing that him watching you cry out in agony hurt him just the same if he had been stabbed? but taking the knife? and then lying on a cot in the glisten of the setting sun? vulnerable and slow? grounding him like he's the one who needed saving? like watching you bleed out is enough to kill him? and touching the small of his back brings him back to life? impulsiveness turned romantic. turned angst. turned 'all the words i didn't say but you heard them anyway'. don't talk to me.

mmmmm annabeth abandonment issues vs. jason abandonment issues. both tossed aside as children, both raised at camp, both become leaders. but annabeth got a family out of it. first she had thalia and luke. then percy and grover.

jason had reyna, for a while. had leo and piper, for a while. but ultimately jason remained alone. and while annabeth grew with her found family, jason died separated from his.

AO3 Etiquette

Please don’t put 𝓢𝓹𝓮𝓬𝓲𝓪𝓵 𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓪𝓬𝓽𝓮𝓻𝓼 (special characters) in your AO3 titles. Typically done by using a generator to replace the characters with nonstandard unicode characters. They may look fancy and give your title flair. You may be looking for a way to make your fic stick out.

BUT

These characters aren’t readable by screen readers.

It bypasses work skins and such so people using accessible fonts for dyslexia, etc, or just their own comfort or preference get screwed over by you using it.

Also your works won’t show up in the AO3 search engine based on keywords in the title.

Also as a matter of personal taste it’s just plain in bad taste. Like tagging characters that have all of 1 line of dialogue and 2 sentences mentioning them in the entire fic, no-one’s gonna arrest you for it, but it just makes people’s experience on the site worse, not better.

This is a trend that needs to stop.
