Life can hit you real hard sometimes, like a death of a loved one. Sometimes though, life just chips away at you without you even noticing. It feels like you need to put your face to the grindstone and work through the hard times so that you can wait until “things get better” or when “the time is right”; You’ll be happy when you’ve saved enough to be secure, when you’ve finished collecting, when you’re done.

These are the times that you take a job that you don’t like, with people you can’t relate to, in a place you don’t belong. You start to settle into this life and don’t think that you deserve anything more. You begin to forget what you wanted, what you cared about; your passions start to fade. Suddenly you look up and notice that you aren’t the person you thought you were; you discover there is less of you than there was before; as if this path has worn you away to a thin transparent version of what you once were. 

Don’t let this be your fate. Work for your dreams, not just because it’s what you think you are supposed to do. Find where you belong, a place that nourishes your soul so that you can grow. Figure out who you are and be that with everything you have. 

This song is very inspiring to me. My favorite part is the end when the guitar stops and it’s just the words and the piercing silence. The passion in his voice bites into you like the frozen winter wind and you can’t help but feel like you need to go out and do something important. Before you go do that though, listen to this song.
