with an affirming nod, he reached into his bag for the bottle which still felt cold to the touch as he handed it to her. âyeah, oh, um, weâre quite unstable to be honest, all of us are a bitâŠweird. and weâve got, like, a billion dogs so, every dayâs an uncertainty. apart from frodo, heâs uh, always sleeping. are your parents separated or? shit, wait, sorry, you donât need to answer that.â he shook his head dismissively, realising how intrusive the question was. âuh, sort of, only âcause my brother asked me to, but i kind of like it at home, so, iâm in no rush.â
âwoah, wait,â she took the bottle from him, âdo you know pretty much everyone in this town? and every dog?â tessa took a sip, smiling and feeling a little bit more energized despite the still scalding heat. âthis place must be smaller than i thought. but frodo seems like heâs got his life down pat. he is your dog, right? not your brother?â she grinned up at him, reassuringly. âand donât worry about it. my parents arenât separated. i just had to move around a lotâby myself. lived in massachusetts then michigan then colorado thenâohâeven canada for a bit. itâs all âcause of skating. i gotta got where the best coaches are and thats pretty much taken me around the country. but i can understand liking tallow as a home... itâs veryâuhâquaint and pleasant. at least when youâre not physically melting.â

Coming out of the hardware shop, Sajad seemed to fall into step with Tessa and hearing her words.  âIf youâre not used to it then itâs pretty much like living in a volcano. I had a bit of hard time adjusting when I got here a few months ago too, which is weird because my entire childhood was spent in Pakistan where itâs blistering in the summer. Get hooked on smoothies and youâll be good.â
âhonestly. i mean, objectively, i shouldâve expected summers in arizona to be hotter than a summerâwellâbasically anywhere else. the spring weather was fine, much more bearable,â sheâs been here for four months and has yet to find any âregularâ restaurants or hangouts so she asks: âany recommendations on where to get good smoothies?â

âoh, uh, i donât know?â james shrugged, not sure how to answer her question. âiâve been here my whole life so itâs justâŠi donât know. donât get me wrong, it is ridiculous, but iâve not known anything else to be honest. um, iâve got some ice water in my bag if you want? i mean, it started that way, now it might just be regular water but itâll be cold still.â
âyes please,â tessa held her hand out of the water, relieved that it would be cold enough to still be considered refreshing. âyour whole life, huh? that must be nice... stability and all that jazz, you know?â honestly, she couldnât relate, having moved around a bunch since she was twelve. âhave you ever thought of moving out? maybe going on an extended vacation?â

â that seems to be the general consensus, but i figured a house, pet and plant bundle for four weeks was worth more than three hundred, so when she offered i figured i might as well give her a chance .â she laughed at the admission, still cringing at the sad sight of what once was a fern. â i have a bit of a green thumb, so i might be able to resurrect a few, but this guy has definitely photosynthesized his last meal .â
âoh,â tessa chuckled, âyou decided to go with the value pack. respectable choice, but at the cost of all these lives... â she trailed off, glancing around the area at a couple other plants that had met their untimely fate. âiâd be seriously impressed if you could revive some of these. theyâre pretty, well, dead. how long were you gone again?â

plsisadora:
isadoraâs brain had stopped focusing on the tasks at hand and had switched to auto-pilot. for the last half an hour, sheâd been loading bouquets of flowers into the shopâs van for the upcoming deliveries. struggling, she had lifted the final, and largest, arrangement and was attempting to take it to the van but it was so large that it obscured her vision. before she had time to react, sheâd walked straight into someone on the sidewalk, and the momentum had sent her to the ground. âfiglio di puttana!â the blonde exclaimed, aiming her swearing towards the person whoâd been walking. if she hadnât been at work, she mightâve continued her tirade but she didnât want to get a complaint and decided upon a pout.
tessa was out on a jog, needing to get her miles in for the day. she had her earbuds in, listening to her running playlist but when the slow melody of a sam smith song started playing, tessa stopped in the middle of a sidewalk in front of a van and store and began swiping through her apple watch to skip the song. she felt another mass bump into her and watched as a blonde girl and a huge bunch of flowers fall to the floor. she heard words that she most definitely did not understand but it couldnât have been nice. âoh fuuuu....â tessa pulled out her earbuds. âsorry?â

nate looked down at the mess of papers on his desk, his head held in his hands as he tried his best to read through them. But his mind had a different idea, instead playing through the events of the horrendous date he experienced. How he probably lost the only person that he might possibly have considered a close acquaintance, how hopeless he was, how once his father hears about it nateâll become a disgrace to him.  âfuck!â he yelled out, one of his hands swiping at the whiskey glass that sat properly on a coaster on the edge of the table, sending it flying into the wall next to him. the glass shattered from the impact against the wall, a small piece coming back to hit him in the cheek.  âfuck.â he cussed again although much quieter as he hand went to his cheek to feel the blood beginning to seep from the wound. It was only a couple moments later that he heard a knock on the door, he let out an exasperated sigh before getting up to open the door. âWhat do you want.â
tessaâs strongsuit was never cooking, but she knew she couldnât survive on doordash and uber eats. she had a food subscription box sitting on her counter and was about to make teriyaki sauce for her tofu when she realized she didnât have brown sugar. tess knew she could make the trip to the grocery store but she was not feeling it, so she got off her ass, grabbed a bowl from her cupboard and headed out into the hall. she hadnât particularly made friends with anyone on her floor so she picked a door at random and knocked politely. the tentative smile on her face slipped right off when the guy in front of her, who in her opinon looked a little beat up, answered. she held the bowl out in front of her. âi need some sugar...â she let that hang as she finally saw the nick on his cheek. âhey, are you okay? do you need any help with that?â tessa had dealt with an unfathomable amount of cuts herself.Â

â i just⊠canât BELIEVE i paid my little cousin three hundred bucks and i still came home to dead plants .â the brunette lamented, examining the limp vine of a clearly deceased fern that had survived a cross-country road trip with ease, but hadnât lasted the month and half sheâd bee absent from the tallow ranch.  â sheâs seventeen not seven â and all the animals are fine, THANK GOD, which is inarguably the more difficult task âŠâ
âyou should just hire â i donât know â a professional plant sitter. those exist right? i bet i can find you one on indeed.com or somthing...â  tessa walked over and joined her, peering at the dried, brown remains of the plant. âi wouldnât blame your cousin though, iâve had my fair share of dead succulents.â

( zoey deutch )? no thatâs ( tessa militsch ) the ( twenty two ) year old ( competitive figure skater ) who has been in town ( four months ) and reminds everyone of ( the shave of ice that sprays up after an abrupt halt of blades, sweet pears, and receiving a standing ovation ). Maybe it has something to do with the fact the ( cisfemale ) is always ( overly critical & reticent ) or ( principled & dedicated ). either way ( she/her ) is apart of the town. ( OOC ; AMANDA/18/SHE/HER/PST )
hullo bbs! now iâm embarrassed because i spent all of today biking with my brothers but iâm back! iâve been itching to rp all year but, having just graduated high school, iâve been pretty busy! but iâm here and have plenty of muse for my girl tess! so hereâs a semi-long intro even though i told myself to keep it short:
quick note: so basically if you know who tessa virtue is (my queen), a lot of my tessâs story is inspired by her life!
little miss tessa grew up in san francisco, california as the younger out of two girls
tessaâs whole life revolves around figure skating. itâs basically on her mind 24/7. (major plot point ahead//tw: slight mention of injury)
so âgrew upâ basically meant that until she was 12, she lived in SF but has lived in Massachusetts to Michigan to Colorado to Canada for a little bit
sheâs gotten used to being on her own, usually stayed with a host family in each new location because her family couldnât really move around with her so much
the reason she moved to tallow in the first place is because of the skating rink over in phoenix and because there happen to be really, really great coaches out here even though itâs in a really hot area lmao
sheâs been training for the olympics for as long as she could remember, working day in and day out and travelling all over the world to compete (and often medal) in worlds, nationals, grand prixs, etc as well as touring.
spoiler: she didnât make it to the 2018 pyeongchang olympics :-(
in mid 2017, tessa was heartbroken and so so distraught when she found out she had chronic compartment syndrome (a painful condition that occurs when pressure within the muscles builds to dangerous level) she basically over exerted herself
although sheâd been hiding her pain for awhile, she never told anyone until it got so bad she couldnât physically walk without pain sometimes
sheâs been in recovery ever since (fell into a bit of a spiral after the devastation hit) doing all sorts of physiotherapy as well as seeing a sports/personal psychologist
so immediately after the 2018 olympics, she found a new coach in phoenix and new apartment in tallow, and takes the drive there every morning & every afternoon
tess will compete in the 2022 beijing games if it k i l l s her
sheâs just a lil worried that the world will be against her, though as 26 is pretty old to compete as a figure skater
(but she was robbed all the way in 2014âs sochi games too when she was 18 because the judges were being sketch)
in the middle of the day, tessa works at jumpin jewels. her other real âpassionâ lies within the fashion industry.
because sheâs pretty known in the skating community, sheâs been a brand ambassador for/has worked with a handful of different US fashion/lifestyle/self-care stores or brands.
while she knows sheâs the shit in the skating world, she really doesnât expect a lot of people to know who she is, but if you meet her, thereâs no way youâd not know she skates!!
due to years of being judged and needing to be at the top of her game, tessaâs gotten pretty good at self-regulating and sticking to precise boundaries she sets for herself (going to the gym/eating healthy/all that jazz) but that also means sheâs kinda judgy
sheâs also used to putting on a brave and untouchable facade since sheâs been competitively skating since she was a teeny tiny girl, so my bby is not that great at showing her emotions. she could be hurt but doesnât want you to know sheâs vulnerable or needs help.
tessaâs kinda a big ass dork (not in the nerdy sense, but in the every-once-in-a-while-when-sheâs-not-in-the-middle-of-serious-competition-season, sheâs a hoot and a half! kinda goofy this one)
homegirl cannot cook to save her life -- she can make simples like cereal, smoothies, and put together a salad, but dONât let her near an oven or stove! (she can follow instructions from some of her delivered nutritionist-approved subscription boxes that get sent her way)
come watch cheesy ass rom coms, disney movies, and dramas with her! never ever horror/thrillers because those are too fuckin scary and sheâll have to sleep with the lights on
thatâs all i can think of right now!
possible/wanted connections:
tessaâs older sister -- she probably found a new career opportunity around tallow &/or knew she could also keep an eye on tessa for their parents
mama/papa bear to watch other her -- tess sometimes is so focused on her career that maybe she misses a meal or two or stays up way to late, this person/people help her stay alive
her coaches -- gotta be good @ skatin lol
any skater that tessa competed against -- opportunity for an enemies connections or enemies to friends storyline
gym buddies -- while tess has a personal trainer that she skypes in with biweekly, she exercises a lot so if your muse does too, maybe they see each other in the gym and start a lil routine of exercises together
co-worker at jumpin jewelry -- they could be both in love with fashion and spend down time talking about trends and shit? aka also a shopping buddy outside of work
old skating partner (would be a male, inspired by scott moir) -- thereâs a whole storyline that could open with this character; ice dance is a denomination of competitive skating where a male & female are judged more on their artistry of a skate rather than a big emphasis on technical execution of different tricks. partners need to be so intune with each other that these two wouldâve been so so close, basically always together. Â sO theyâd have competed for a long time until for some reason they stopped skating together (maybe they just outgrew each otherâs body & werenât a fit anymore, or maybe there was a big explosive fight, or maybe one of them just decided to stop ice dance and switch to another discipline of skating) but somehow they both found themselves in tallow
literally A N Y T H I N G or A N Y O N E
forgive me if iâm a tad bit slow rn, iâm trying to read through everyoneâs intros/bios!! but pls pls come message me if you wanna plot or got a storyline in mind for us! ps im pretty needy so bonus point if you make the first move lmao
