What's the relationship between Updike and Whitty here?

This is the first ask and it has been sitting here for quite awhile. I might as well answer it without any form of arts. I've been occupied with other stuff so ( ; ω ; )

Whitty already recognized Updike as a wealthy businessman. First of all, he never had a good impression on wealthy businessmen. They appeared to be arrogant and supercillious to him. When Updike didn't want to join the dance studio, Whitty assumed he thought it was a waste of time. That just made him dislike Updike. Whitty can be a little judgemental-

Whitty then met him again when he was at the cafe, working. Whitty thought he was going to mock him for losing his job at the dance studio, so he was surprised when Updike expressed genuine sympathy. They eventually became friends and Whitty was the second person to know his secret.

Pico doesn't drink a lot, but you could find him often in the bar doing business! If he ever hit on any of the ladies, don't think he is interested in them. He's just going to secretly steal their money hehehehehe.

We got four dance studios in the AU at the moment-

VIRTUOSO DANCE STUDIO - owned by the Dearest family, one of the most well-known dance studios for many years. It had started as an academy for Tango. This is where BF enrolled in.

EVOLUTIUM DANCE STUDIO - where Senpai, Whitty and Carol work.

INDIGO DANCE STUDIO - owned by the rich man’s son, Aldryx, who partnered with Tabi. It was closed down after it was blacklisted. 

MAYA POLE DANCE STUDIO - where Debbie works.

FRIDAY NIGHT DANCIN’ : WHITTY

A dance instructor at EVOLUTIUM for modern dancing. Whitty may appear to be intimidating, but he’s actually nice. He doesn’t joke with his students unless they are friends with him. As an instructor, he is rather strict.

Whitty is an orphan. He spent most of his life at the orphange until he was of age. Carol welcomed him to stay at her apartment when he had to leave the orphanage.

He knew Carol since young. He met her at school and she became the closest friend he ever have. In fact, she was the only friend he had since nobody wanted to go close to him because he was a bomb. No doubt, he began to feel romantically towards Carol but he is too scared to make a move.

Well, he was a dance instructor until he punched Senpai, who mocked him for being an orphan. Sadly, the manager didn’t believe him and fire him. (Thanks to Senpai’s innocent facade.) Now he’s working as a waiter at a nearby cafe. Not like he hates the job, but it is kind of embarrassing. It is already annoying having people talking behind his back.

Whitty still keeps his quick-to-anger personality. His behaviour is the similar to OG, except that when his fuse runs out, he will be out of cold. Because of this, he tries to control his anger.

FRIDAY NIGHT DANCIN’ : PICO

A bounty hunter who likes to dance tango

A smooth talker

Instead of hired to kill BF, Pico was hired by Daddy Dearest to protect GF because her father didn’t trust her safety in BF’s hands

Was a good friend of BF back in middle school, top student in class and one of the nicest kids you ever met. It was until the school shooting struck. The event traumatized him terribly but it was the loss of Nene, his close friend, that broke him even further. Pico completely changed after that. He started to talk less and become aggressive towards anyone including BF himself. Days later, he never came to school again. That was the last time BF saw him until he turned up years later.

The bracelet around his left wrist is given by Nene in her dying breath

His relationship with BF still isn’t mended. Pico behaves rather sarcastically towards him now.

Pico poses as an antihero in the AU. He gives the money he stolen to people who lived in poverty.

FRIDAY NIGHT DANCIN’ : UPDIKE

A wealthy businessman who takes over his parents’ company

Since young, Updike’s passion is dancing. It makes him happy but his parents strongly disapprove because they thought it was a ‘waste of time’. In fact, they stopped him from doing what he wanted to do. So Updike led a quiet and lonely life.

He forced himself to believe that whatever that is considered a hobby is redundant. This leads to a rather sour relationship between him and Whitty at the start.

Updike may appear to be cold and indifferent, he is polite and kind-hearted. He’s just used to being… not expressive. Kind of too formal, may I add. 

Despite that he was forbidden to dance, Updike secretly watches waltz dance videos.

If he were to really dance, he is surprisingly okay for a beginner.

FRIDAY NIGHT DANCIN’ : SENPAI

A salsa dance instructor working in another dance studio

Born into a wealthy family, who are friends with Girlfriend’s parents

Had interest in Girlfriend once, had been matchmade with Girlfriend by parents once, but GF only sees him as an older brother

Appears to be polite and caring towards his students, charismatic and can swoon any girls easily by his dance moves. 

But really, he is a two-faced bitch. Underneath the genuine smile, he is arrogant, a narcissist and a sore loser. Not many know his true color, except for his colleague Whitty and Carol.

Ever since Girlfriend’s father got beef with Boyfriend, Senpai has been dragged into the issue, being forced to fight against BF. He initially refused until he got blackmailed.

Welcome to the blog! This is for the FNF AU, FRIDAY NIGHT DANCIN’! It is still a developing AU, but we get to see how this AU grows! Though Friday Night Dancin’ is similar to the original, it focuses more on characters’ lives and the relationships built among them. May it be sweet or bitter.

Before sending any ask, please check here to know which characters are available to ask. Please check this file.  

Suggestions are welcomed about characters and any other ideas, but I will be selective and pick whatever that fits into my au. I will refused if you asked to add your characters into the AU as canon. I only do this with close friends. However, if you decided to make an FND character, go ahead! But they will not be accepted as canon.

M!A asks are allowed, but I have the rights to not do so. Any ask that are considered offensive are immediately deleted.

Dares are allowed too, same rule applied as M!A asks.

Venting is not allowed. I can understand that people can go through hard times, but I would suggest that you talk about your problems to a friend. However, you could always ask for a little self-indulgent art. If you’re going through a hard time, I hope things get better for you soon.

Basically, everyone can ask anything as long as you follow the rules above. And most importantly, have fun. ♥

AU SYNOPSIS

FRIDAY NIGHT DANCIN’ is still somehow similar to the original, but it is an AU where Boyfriend fights everybody off in a dance battle instead.

Girlfriend’s parents own a famous dance studio. Boyfriend is a student there. Whereas, Girlfriend is his dance instructor. They eventually fall in love with each other, but then a certain father decides to step in. Refused to let his daughter be in a relationship with the likes of Boyfriend, Boyfriend has to dance his way out to gain Girlfriend’s father’s approval. Would BF manage to succeed ? Or Would he be biting more than he could chew ? 

More are to be learnt as he goes forward, such as the father’s history with other dance studios... By that time, BF will figure out it isn’t just a dance battle anymore.
