Update Days. And a Badge!

Heyaaaa!

Yo yo, boys and girls, how are we? All good I hope? Isolating safely, using the downtime to learn and improve ourselves? Cos if you aren’t, you should be.

Put down the phone, pick up a book!

I apologise for my absence lately. Writing and blogging’s taken a bit of a backseat I must admit. I’ve invested all my efforts into studying and learning, and then I got injured at work too, which pissed me off.

I decided to use the time I was having off to heal as effectively as possible, and so I doubled down on my studies. I think my wonderful better half is sick to death of me sitting on the laptop all day, but I hope she’ll see that I’m trying to make us a better life. And as quickly as damn possible!

So what have I been up to? I hear you all clamouring for my information from afar…

I took the plunge on some web hosting. After a bunch of digging and research and weighing up pro’s and con’s, I took out a decent looking package with Hostgator. The really good thing about it is that it’s on a recurring monthly payment. It’s more than the price they try to hook you with, but I’m not paying for 36 months upfront - no way - because I don’t have that cash spare. But for 17 squids a month, I’m now online, hurrah!

Oh, and I documented the whole process as I did it, so I could share it with y’all later. Working out hosting has honestly been a real pain in the ass, I’m glad it’s sorted - for now.  

Then I’m setting up the site, and learning how to drive Wordpress. Like most things, it’s easy when you know how - otherwise learning takes AGES.

Everything I achieve throws up something else. I find a really good drag and drop builder for Wordpress.org, but then it’s like ‘insert your logo here’. Cool and turbo safe. 

But what is my logo? How does it fit with my other branding? What are the colour schemes? Can I find a template to match the brand theme? What pictures do I use- and why is the one I REALLY like all grainy when I upload it?.... Blaaargh!

Fire up photoshop and start a branding campaign. What are my colours? What is my tagline etc… So I’ve finalised my colours and font, got a watermark for images.

In fact, I have to say the progress I made on photoshop recently is really good, and something I’m very proud of.

Hosting - sorted ✅✅

Photoshop - Intermediate ✅✅

Website - Halfway ✅✅

Ten days ago all of these were at ZERO. 

Yesterday I felt very down in the dumps and I made a list of all the other things I HAD achieved. (I’ve been looking for another day job, and tbh the jobs market is a horrible place and makes me feel like shit every time - so I needed a little pick me up)

*Double (( It’s my own fault the jobs market makes me feel worthless because I don’t have the skillset that’s needed to be valuable - YET. But that’s why we’re here putting in the graft. Rise and Grind yo))

I designed myself a badge, a well-done badge for all the thing’s I’ve done so far. SO I’m feeling smug cos I got my smiley star, but also because I MADE that smiley star! 

Well done! 10/10, Indeed!

I finished Way Of The Wolf by Jordan Belfort. I’m not a very fast reader, largely because I don’t dedicate too much time to it, cos I’m always doing other things. At least for the time being anyway.

But wow. What an EXCELLENT book! 

The whole thing is sales focused, but the principles within it can be used anywhere. It’s well worth knowing these hints and tips because most of us, most days, have to influence someone somehow. And once you see it, you start to see the straight-line system EVERYWHERE.

Seriously. I should have read this book years ago (I wouldn’t have done because my mind wasn’t open to it). It is fantastic. And is worth every moment you dedicate to it.

That, Amigos is a brief update and rundown of what’s been happening.

Most of these points will be expanded on in later posts, but for now I wanted to say heya and let you know what’s occurring.
