Iâve always loved Mozenrath, a very underappreciated villain from Aladdin the TV Series. I also love 17th century woodcut illustrations. I figured it would be cool to draw him in this style, largely inspired by this drawing of Matthew Hopkins, the âWitchfinder Generalâ. Since Xerxes the eel is a kind of âfamiliarâ for Mozenrath, I imagine him being illustrated in publications that were circulated at the time, as a practitioner of witchcraft with his familiar. Of course the publications at the time were fearmongering, misogynistic lies about women, and this one would be accurate.
Note: this isnât actually a woodcut (turns out those are extremely difficult to do, but Iâd like to master it one day!) - this is just drawn in ink fineliner.
Xerxesâ little speech bubble is of course grammatically incorrect on purpose :D
Tagging @writesailingdreams - I know youâll appreciate this! <3
I think this might be the first time I have posted my Hades fanart on here. Disney Hades is hard to draw and I can only do it because I have been obsessively drawing him for 20 years. đđŹđłđ„
