I'm a sucker for a fucked up relationships. It's about that unhinged obsession. Limitless devotion. Love to the point of destruction.

You cannot save people, you can only love them.
Language of flowers and Alternate Universe (Day 2 and 5)
{I chose yellow chrysanthemums because it symbolises strong bonds, and also neglected love ^^鉁▆

So I'm reading a translation of a completely different series, and there's a translator note that says, "There's a Japanese phrase borrowing the strength of a tiger that means, basically, 'being an arrogant coward who talks big but hides from repercussions behind a more powerful superior'."
And I remembered that Atsushi would, when talking to his inner tiger-self, talk about 'borrowing its strength'.
And that Kunikida told Atsushi "the tiger is strong, but you are weak".
And then I remembered that the poet in Nakajima's "Moon Over The Mountain" that gets turned into a tiger is described as having 'arrogant cowardice'.
....I love it when I find out clever things like this, I really do.
Not least because yes - Atsushi is a coward, usually. And the more he gets used to his tiger form, the less that's the case.
But it also makes his declaration in Dead Apple make a lot more sense, when he declares that the tiger is himself. Because he'd always treated the tiger as something else, a kind of alternate being sharing his body - meaning using its power was literally 'borrowing the strength of a tiger'. But to declare that the ability is him is to say he's not 'borrowing' its strength - the strength is his own.
