I’m excited as to how my little farming game is coming along!
Cryptid farm will be a multiplayer farming sim while weird stuff happens. It involves a lot of running away.
The grass shader on those tufts makes them blow about in the breeze, I’m very happy with it! I need to do a bunch of animations for the characters and monsters and a bunch of art for the crops, but it’s going well so far!
This post is to document one of the first unity games I ever made: Robot Park. Using 3D models I’d designed for a graphics project, I endeavoured to make a multiplayer game to prove they weren’t hard.
There’s no servers or anything but if you managed to get a network connection going you could totally join and play multiplayer, that part 100% worked. All that you could do though really was jump about in first person and push physics objects. Some of which had parenting issues and their scale would glitch out immediately.
I couldn’t figure out how to make walking animations so your robot just kind of slides everywhere. The only communication was that your head moved up and down when you looked. A friend of mine suggested that it should just be made into an online art exhibit, so I added a museum.
A hidden area was also added that you could get to with some parkour.
It was filled with physics enabled pre-separated robots that, when touched, would fall into pieces. Just to make it creepy.
What did we learn from this experience?
Network coding is super hard and multiplayer games are sick for it. However, even though my coding knowledge was terrible, and there was no gameplay really whatsoever other than the pre-built unity first person controller, Robot Park is still filled with weird oddities that make it special.
Hellooo everyone! I’ve made a game! You can play it in your browser on your computer :D
It’s a game where you sit around in a room and talk with 3 characters: ZigZag, Hops and Dirtlord. You can inspect items in the room and ZigZag will tell you a bit about them. Have fun!
a lil short using my current game dialogue system.
i’m hoping to finish the game up soon and put it on itch.io! there’s still a bit of work to be done though.
My own content would get lost in the endless sea of trash I reblog so I’m making two new sites! My blogs now are
