There is more than one way to save ‘I love you’

Though Philip says ‘I love you’ to Lukas, we never hear the same words returned. Instead, here are the ways Lukas inadvertently returns Philip’s affections:

creators note: hey i made this gifset like three years ago when eyewitness was still airing and it was a huge escape for me, from my own mind and from family issues. it was one of the first times i saw boys on television allowed to be gay. at the time i was just coming to terms with the fact that i was bisexual and trans. every wednesday night i ran downstairs, made some hot cocoa, and forgot about the rules my ocd had in place and for an hour i got to be part of this show, part of the world they lived in. and for an hour, things were good. 
years later i’m out to my family, i’m accepted by my friends and parents and free of the worst of my ocd. and tumblr bumped up the gif size limit. so this pride month, remember how representation really does matter. thanks, or whatever.

Omg Eyewitness 🥺 where do you think Philip and Lukas are now four years on?

oh my god! yes!! eyewitness was so great. I started it because I wanted to watch that one *scene* which has been circulating tumblr forever?

and then I got sucked into the plot and the characters, and what do you know? ten episodes down and I’m still craving more.

I love everyone’s interpretations of how it would have turned out. in some they got to college together, in some they break up and then get back together years later.

personally, I’ve always wondered if they could have really made it. if the murders hadn’t happened, if there hadn’t been that pressure to come out because they were key witnesses. would Lukas ever come out or would he keep up this charade with Rose? I mean, this scene only happens because Philip calls the Child Services to take him away from here.

I like to imagine Philip keeps in touch with Helen and Gabe and comes back during summer breaks from university. I think he’d like to study photography. (duh 🤡) maybe he and Lukas share a two bedroom flat (for when they get into fights 👀 because let’s be real, it’s them. they’re going to get in a LOT of fights.) and Lukas pursues his motocross career. I don’t know. I’ve never thought about it with so much detail. it’s a nice image, though, isn’t it?

oh, and before I forget: it’s 2020. they’re probably making tiktoks and being horribly fluffy and everyone falls in love with their banter and their horrible moony eyes when they look at each other fondly. it’s a whole thing.

alright. so maybe I’ve gone around the bend for this couple. I don’t care that it was filmed literally four years ago and a second season was never made (and I’m steaming at that fact, trust me).

but. this is the first show I’ve watched without dragging my feet about it, the first one I’ve felt such a deep connection with the characters. they’re so well crafted, so wonderfully portrayed that I can’t help but fall in love. it’s kind of impossible not to.

this is the photo James Paxton said was the one where he was making his “Tyler said something funny and I’m trying not to laugh” face and I just- yes. I’m in love and you cannot convince me otherwise.
