Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Prince Christian of Denmark arrive to the Faroe Islands for an official visit in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands -August 23rd 2018.
If being in the middle of nowhere in the Atlantic Ocean excites you, than this is the place for you. A place where you can travel for miles on end and not encounter another person. However, there is something about this small group of islands that continues to draw adventurous people to it. These islands are for the true explorers looking to push the boundaries of travel.
Go to Faroe Islands Translate and listen to some of their videos! Also, I’ve posted a few YouTube videos on my page, and I will continue as I find them :) I’ve also been requested to upload a file (?) of me pronuncing the alphabet, so I may get to that
mind if I ask you how you came across Faroese?
Hello! Cool question! Well, it has popped up every now and then during my studies since we talk about minority/minoritized/regional languages in my classes a lot (along for example with the Sámi languages) since we talk about the different sociolinguistic situations of different languages in EuropeBut that one time when I got really interested in it was when I was playing this lingyourlanguage game where you get a sample of a spoken language and you have to guess which one it is. And I loved Faroese and I could swear I could hear some Irish influences in it, so that got me into researching it, I even did one of my projects on it. I’m in the process of learning some basics, but I’m struggling with pronunciation! I have some worksheets but no pronunciation guide and it’s so hard to come across materials online! I’ll keep trying.
