the factory Rothmans Porsche 956 of Derek Bell & Vern Schuppan on top of Raidillon
it was the first 1000km de Spa run at Francorchamps since 1975 & obviously the first run on the new short circuit
Porsche dominated with the brand new 956 claiming pole (set by Jacky Ickx in the n°1 Rothmans Porsche, set at 185kph average, quite a bit slower than on the old track but still very fast in modern day standards) & the overall win (also by Jacky Ickx & team mate Jochen Mass)
only the fastest lap was something that eluded the German team, set by the powerful Lancia LC1, driven by Michele Alboreto
