on top … the factory Rothmans Porsche 956 of Derek Bell & Vern Schuppan on top of Raidillon it was the first 1000km de Spa run at Francorchamps since 1975 & obviously the first run on the new short circuit Porsche dominated with the brand new 956 claiming pole (set by Jacky Ickx in the n°1 Rothmans Porsche, set at 185kph average, quite a bit slower than on the old track but still very fast in modern day standards) & the overall win (also by Jacky Ickx & team mate Jochen Mass) only the fastest lap was something that eluded the German team, set by the powerful Lancia LC1, driven by Michele Alboreto Derek Bell, Rothmans Porsche 956, 1982 1000km de Spa, Francorchamps

The B-24 beats the B-17 in every aspect, as she doesn't have the overly large tail fin and horizontal stabilizers nor the weird cockpit hump.

Not to mention she was faster, carried more ordinance and flew longer, although it couldn't fly as high and was nowhere near as durable.
