Indonesia, first and foremost, has pride. He is a big country, biggest in his region, and a main regional power despite his economy. During pre-colonial era he had at least two kingdoms large enough they encroached upon non traditional territories and after colonial era he claimed back about as big a territory as those (and a bit more). He shares a certain similar mindset with other large and strong countries that I think he will refuse to be made only a victim in certain equations, despite his own insecurities too. Dude is a Leo after all.

I LOVE THEM ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!! My main Mongolia and Turkey ship!!

Yes, they are too far away and thus actually aren’t much historically involved compared to them each with other countries, but it’s not a non-history either. Turkey’s ancestor (I hc Turkey as one of the migrating tribes from Seljuk era, which then became Rum and then Ottoman Empire) came from what is now Mongolian territory, aka Gökturk (who was Turkey’s Dad). I hc that Mongolia knew Gökturk as a kid and thus when Turkey wants to know abt his Dad, he comes to Mongolia. That’s p much what happens irl yes lol.

(I don’t actually have a fixed age or year of birth for Mongolia, so let’s say that he only became ‘active’ or known around a few centuries before Mongol Empire was formed, but he’s already been around as a more nameless kid some centuries before that, too. Also I hc that his first love (being a kid that he was) was Gökturk 🌝)

Anyway! Then Mongol Empire expanded to Anatolia and stuff. Here I think Mongolia would’ve seen Turkey in passing once or twice, but Turkey (as Rum) fell into Ilkhanate (Mongolia’s son)’s hands instead. Turkey and Ilkhanate didn’t have a fun relationship, lol.

As a relationship, Montur are very casual and understanding. Their personalities also p much fit each other, and their ideas or fun match very well. They just love to be in each other’s presence. Their bedroom activities are also 🔥🔥🔥🤭 I hc that Mongolia is a top/dom by default, but he’s so comfortably masculine and dommish that he doesn’t mind bottoming you know. He simply loves taking care of his partners and pleasuring them, so if that means bottoming, yes why not. Turkey is more of a diva and a spoiled brat so he loves being with someone whom he can show those sides to, as he himself usually tops or dominates (mainly neighboring countries) out of pride, but Mongolia is so comfortably dommish that Turkey turns into a brat instead. Oh, Montur also are in open/poly and they frequently invite thirds into their bed.

I should write a more thorough hc on their relationship dynamic 🌞

All in all I love that they’re so goooofy together. My wolfy duo 🌞

* September 16th 1941, treaties of gulistan and turkmenchai, other stuff i dont know abt :3 what I mean is that these two start shit together historically

* If Arthur sleeps on his back and Ivan likes to have other ppl close to him and also bc both England and Russia are cold places, they could save money by just cuddling to sleep instead of turning heaters on

* they both love tea

* England is somewhat mature, Russia is not and can't even understand his own feelings

* Their canonical interactions are very calm and mundane, they don't want to go at eachothers throats and can and have disagreed with eachother in the past and nothing rlly happened

This short fic was inspired by my talks with @eruverse about Indonesia-Netherlands relations. I have to defer to her for all things IndoNed, but I happen to be somewhat knowledgeable on Japan-Netherlands relations so... here it is.

Japan blinked. Lightly, with the tip of his forefinger, he traced the angry red welts that littered Netherlands’ back. These were new, barely healed, and deep. Netherlands flinched under his touch.

“Does it hurt?” Japan asked softly.

Netherlands looked over his shoulder and met his eyes. “Mmn,” was all he emitted around the tobacco pipe clamped between his teeth.

Slowly, without breaking eye contact, Japan leaned down and gently kissed one of the raised welts. With his lips hovering over Netherlands’ skin, he asked, “What kind of a person is this, ah, koibito of yours?”

He had to repeat the word again – koibito. And he traced the kanji for koi on the palm of Netherlands’ hand. Ten little strokes representing love, yearning, romance. Netherlands’ face was still as a calm lake, but his blue-green eyes were fixed to the invisible character on his palm.

“Someone invaluable,” he finally said.

He turned away and removed the pipe from his mouth. Japan felt he was being dismissed. That he couldn’t stand. He kissed Netherlands’ back again, softly at first, then with pressure. His lips latched to Netherlands’ skin, and he sucked hard enough to leave his own mark.

In a thrice, Netherlands spun around and grabbed hold of Japan by collar of his yukata, slamming him down on his back onto the tatami. Japan’s breath expelled violently from his lungs from the impact. He stared up at Netherlands’ face which rippled now with irritation. A lake disturbed from a small thrown pebble.

“Don’t do that,” Netherlands growled, breathing heavily.

Japan raised his hand and gently cupped the side of Netherlands’ face. I’m sorry, was his unspoken plea, his eyes dropping in a display of contrition.

Netherlands’ frown slowly melted as his anger abated. He leaned into Japan’s palm, planting a small kiss on the inside of Japan’s wrist, just over his pulse, in his own request for forgiveness.

They bridged the space between them as their lips came together easily and with a long-practised familiarity. Netherlands slid his hands underneath Japan’s yukata, and gently, carefully, he unwrapped Japan from its confines, pulling it over his small shoulders and down to bunch around his obi. Japan’s foot slid up the tatami to raise his knee and press it between Netherlands’ legs.

“I want you,” Japan said softly in the sultry breathless manner he knew to excite Netherlands. When Netherlands reached down, however, Japan caught his hand and held it still. “No,” he said, and slowly he thumbed Netherlands lips, whispering, “Sono kuchi dake desu.”

The faintest trace of a smile curved Netherlands’ lips. Without hesitation, he descended on Japan and spread his legs apart, kissing the tip of Japan’s member which twitched and hardened at his lips’ touch. As he engulfed Japan’s length into the warmth of his mouth, Japan arched his back and sighed in pleasure. His hand fell to rest on Netherlands’ head and his fingers twirled into Netherlands’ hair as the latter pleasured him thoroughly.

Tomorrow his Netherlands would sail back to the one he calls his kostbaarst sieraad – his most precious jewel. But in this moment, at least, they belonged only to one another.

kostbaarst sieraad = "most precious jewel"; reference to this Dutch print representing the Netherlands Empire holding its crown jewel, the colonial Dutch East Indies (present day Indonesia)

Historical context:

At one point under sakoku or "locked country", the isolationist foreign policy of the Tokugawa shogunate between 1603-1868, the Dutch became Japan's sole link to the West. Despite being confined to Dejima, a man-made island off the coast of Nagasaki, Dutch traders facilitated the exchange of ideas between Japanese and Dutch scholars. This interaction led to the establishment of rangaku or "Dutch studies" which enabled Japan to stay informed about Western advancements in technology and medicine.
