#I don't really narrate my life #I tend to think more in pictures for lack of a better description--terrible for trying to remember words for things #I'll use 'we/us' sometimes #eg c'mon self we need to get up #but I don't think I narrate things as I am doing them #that is unless I've been reading a lot. That's when the internal monologue tends to kick in

I genuinely believe that some people could encounter a button that says “if you push this button everyone in the world has the opportunity to live a better life and your life remains exactly the same” and they would not push it.

They’d be like “well that button’s not fair to me, though,” even though there’s literally no other buttons around and nothing newly bad would happen to them if the button was pushed.

"Guy" and "man" have different connotations with adjectival nouns. Like "tree guy" = arborist but "tree man" = he lives in a tree, or maybe he is a tree.

My laptop dropped off my bed and the full weight of it (lenovo thinkpads are not light) landed with the corner directly smashing my toe. I think the only thing I've experienced that was as painful was fracturing my ankle...also I'm now slightly worried that I did fracture my toe...

I hate the “open floor plan” that everyone is obsessed with in houses now. I want nooks and crannies and bizarre floor plans. I don’t need to be able to see what someone is doing on the other side of the house. I want places to hide and lurk and dwell in the shadows. I am the beast who awaits in the labyrinth

I think its really interesting that at the end of the book Raoul and Christine running away is phrased as if they are escaping from society's judgement, especially from the rumor mill around the De Changy's, whether the rumor that Raoul killed Philippe, or shock that he married someone poor. I feel like too many adaptations compartmentalize the "society is the true villain" to be just about Erik, when it's a running theme with Raoul and Christine too!
