Yes, Emiel's colors are based on the gay pride flag! Using pride flags for this is great because it means I can out-source my biggest art weakness while also being queer XD

He's such a cutie pie. I am deeply happy with his pose, his fur, his little feet, his everything. I feel like Emiel is where I really got into the groove of these rats. I also like how the colors turned out. It feels slightly lazy but I really like the bloby color bubble style. It's giving mold but in a cute way. If that only makes sense to me and no one else that's fine XD

Meet Daisy! She's a hopeless romantic dreaming of her perfect match! More rambles and original scan under the cut :3

I struggled to color Daisy SO much. I wanted to use the colors of the lesbian pride flag and for some reason I messed it up at least three times before I was even remotely happy with it. I am deeply critical of my subpar color pallete making skills, so yeah. I hope it turned out well. Also... yes, I know. We've all noticed. All these girl rats have names that end on '-y'. It just happend, okay? There will be different kinds of names going eventually '^^ (there are at least two more, whoops)

Yeah, I removed the shiny in the digital edit. I just couldn't get that to look right either. I don't love it in this original, but it works fine. But when digitally edited it just looks off to me.

A new addition to these posts: A png Version! If that works on tumblr - which I think it should. Let's find out together :3

@chaos-has-theories: You know, it's Neil Banging Out the Tunes Day today. Me: Oh, right. Damn, too bad I'm too sick to draw him. Me: ... Me: ... Me: ... Me: Oh, who am I kidding, I could be dying and I'd still draw Neil banging out the tunes.

And so now here we are, interrupting the alphabet rats for this national holiday. Fun fact: Neil is the first rat I drew entirely digitally! No real life pen sketch involved! Which is why I don't have an original scan to share, only a copy with all the color layers turned off.

One last fun fact: I believe Neil might be the only hairless rat I've drawn so far, which is really weird since I quite like hairless animals. Oh well, I guess Neil is just extra special that way <3

Meet Cammy! Cammy is a bograt and... listen... I would never play favourites. I love all my rats equally. That is all. You can take the rat out of the bog, but you can't take the bog out of the rat! (Although... please leave her in the bog, she lives there.) Rant about people finding her creepy and her original scan under the cut :)

Okay, when people told me Betty looked creepy, I understood. The blind eye, the emaciated body - it made sense to me. It was kind of what I was going for. But then people told me Cammy looks creepy?? This fuzzy bundle of joy? This self-sustaining ecosystem of a creature? I do not understand. Do you think she's creepy? Why? Maybe she's creepier in her uncoloured form?

Idk, looking at this now, she's almost even cuter??? Maybe it's just me. Whatever. I hope you like her, creepy or cute :)

Meet Betty! Betty is a bit of an older gal and doesn't scurry as fast as she used to. But she's always happy to share her wisdom with the younger critters. I hope you love her as much as I do. Her original scan is under the cut :)

Betty the bedraggled. Again, past me is being kind of rude here, but you can't deny that that's the vibes, right? I love her anyway. Or perhaps because of it? I mean, come on, get a little down in the dirt with me here. Lets be bedraggled together. And the alliteration and metre of the full name are both great. So I suppose that's how I'll justify myself. PS: You can be sure I'm doing them in order because Alphonso is peeking through the paper, lol. Also, the whole alphabet thing, but whatever.

Just btw: This is the book I drew these rats in! It is ridiculously beautiful! The dino who wants you to draw in new sketchbooks should be realy proud of me for drawing Alphonso XD Also, Alphonso's original scan under the cut because I forgot to put him on his own post - next time.

Apparently I dubbed him "Alphonso the short sighted"?? Seems low-key rude. Not sure why I did that, lol. Sure, he might be a bit impulsive, but he gets things done!

Omg hiiiii. I'm actually finally doing this. Meet Alphonso! Alphonso is the very first in my "Over 100 Rats" Project and I drew him on a train headed to Italy, which is why his linework is wobbly in places. He made a fantastic first rat, he got things rolling!

If you're feeling generous, let me know which coloring you like better - air-brushed or blocky.

Heaptober Day 2: Message Rat

This one was drawn by my roommate, my light and my life @echo-has-queries. Yes, I bullied them into joining tumblr just for this. They might post some more rats soon over on @echorats!

Lineart ( some kind of ballpoint pen) and comparison to canon Stanley. Echo hasn't actually... read any of these books. I just saw the word "rat" and decided to bug them for it anyway. Excellent decision, if I do say so myself look at his little GLOVES
