what was it with people and not wanting to express how they truly felt? she could see that something had been eating away at the other, maybe it was because of her animal instincts clouding her judgement on the matter, but she couldn't just take that answer from him.
doesn't matter anyways, so there was something the matter, why else would he answer in such a manner?
"you know, if you don't talk about what's going on, then those things you need to focus on will become muddled down the line," spoken like someone who knows a thing or two about trauma and how it effects one's life. she had the nest to lean back on when her own troubles got in the way with even mundane tasks such as cleaning up the bar, so whatever ed was going through right now, she was sure if he didn't talk about it then it would blow up later--in worst ways.

It was always a loaded question – are you okay? At least, that's what Ed had always found. People asked out of courtesy, because societal norms told them to do so. They didn't really care about your ailments, if you truly were okay or if you lied.
Looking back, Ed wasn't sure he'd ever answered honestly. One look at him gave the impression he was far from fine ; with an automail arm and leg, a suit of armor trailing behind him in place of a little brother.
Pfft. Far from okay. Still, the question made Ed pause. Topaz eyes shifted, settling upon Brandy for a moment. Weighted. Debating....
Pride won.
❝ I"m fine, ❞ gaze averted – fixated upon a spot on the wall. Shrugging away any concern, keeping up those walls he'd so carefully built.
❝ Doesn't matter anyways. We got bigger things to focus on. ❞ The blond was itching to get back to Al, to figure out the next step to finding a Philosopher's stone. He didn't have the time to talk about emotions.

there was an aura about him that she's never felt before, there was a chill in the air whilst she followed and even though it was already cold in amestris thanks to the changing of the seasons there was still something off about this stranger.
when questioned about her tailing along after him she stopped, not sure what to say. she couldn't just ask him what he was after all, that would be an odd thing to bring up, so for now she bowed her head.

there was glass everywhere on the floor of the bar and who was standing was a woman who let out a sharp breath. she couldn't stand men who thought they owned everything, so when the stranger came up her, boasting about himself, brandy had to put a stop to it right then and there.
but with the booze on the ground, she turned to the bartender, holding out enough beli to pay for the bottle.
"sorry about that," she voiced as she made her way out of the bar, groaning because of the cut she had sustained from her actions. she would have to get it bandaged up soon or risk an infection.
