A calm and serene meditation to start the year, an opportunity to do some mental spring cleaning. A time for renewal and new life, new inspirations for projects long left in the dust... As something new for this video- if you turn on closed captions, you can follow along with a guided exercise to accompany this meditation to help you shake off the winter blues and welcome in the new year! A key to help you get the motivation you need to fuel you inspiration for the year! Many Pagans use this festival to welcome in the spring and the start of new life. Some choose to honour Brigid on this day so she will bless the household, and prepare a bed for her if she so chooses to stay the night. "By the time we get to the new year, we are often filled with idea of what we want our new year to be like. We look at others new year’s resolutions and copy them in a vague attempt at trying to better ourselves. But often if we do not assess ourselves, and instead turn to others about how to fix ourselves we come back with jarring and conflicting information. So this time of year is good for mental spring cleaning- getting back to your roots, going back to the core of your being- that initial seed from which you grow and flourish. We’re going to do an exercise here to help you do that~"

If there are any of you worried about what’s happening in America, I suggest following the #WeAreAradia hashtag.
Aradia fought against those that wished to oppress her, Evoke her name if you need strength for you and your fellow humans. x

Gorgeous altar space! ❤

Winter in Northern Minnesota means my homestead projects turn inwards; into the home and into myself. I catch up on household things like sewing, decluttering, maintenance, and crafts. For personal projects I do art and witchcraft… Though not much art since I started working outside Rat Farm.
Recently I restocked my cabinet above the altar with my favourite incense (Morning Star, like I used to buy in downtown Duluth at the Global Village as a kid) and candles from Witchwood Crafts. Even though I can make my own candles I still really love the ones from this shop and get them for the Sabbaths and special uses. I also have several of their gemstones. The orders are packaged very nicely with the stones in little satchels and it comes with a bonus tea light.
For New Year’s I stayed up and took apart and rebuilt/cleaned the altar (you can see the mess of spilled wax in the second photo) and renewed all of my ongoing spells. Results were more quick and interesting than anticipated. Whether the mechanism by which my crafts works is metaphysical or psychological it’s been fascinating to see how it can affect things.
December 31, 2016/January 1, 2017.

@vesicapiscisfatuous The book you asked about earlier is the 'Grimoire of the Thorn Blooded Witch' by Raven Grimassi. It's a book about his Tradition of Witchcraft, merged with Traditional Italian Witchcraft and herb lore. It's a good book, I thoroughly recommend it! 😁 Hope this helps!

The altar I set up for the Water ritual I did for public circle tonight. The tall candle holders are made to look like coral, the shells used as decoration are part of my collection. I steeped sliced cucumber in white wine to put in the chalice. We meditated on the concept that life came from the sea, and everyone took a shell from the bowl of salt water on the centre of the altar.

This is the way we set up the altar in the tradition I am trained in.
