Am I 24 k in a new fanfic in a new fandom? Yeah, maybe.

Will I upload it any time soon? No probably now.

Am I procrastinating on my M.A. thesis? Yeah, maybe. Halvish done maybe?

Did I land my dream entry job at an international publisher, build my home library, and raise my puppy into a respectable adult dog that will probably pass her doggo school exams soon? Yeah, somehow.

I think this is all. Might be back with some updates you're waiting for as soon as I get this other story outta my system or my bunny brain obsesses back with old stories. But this time without pressuring myself to set publishing dates. Cause I do have enough of them right now irl - though deadlines are a lot more fun if I don't have to have text ready then.

Hope everybody is doing well! I'm gonna doom scroll a little here to see what changed here.

I think it's so funny how we bred JOBS into dogs. I have two shih tzus and they were bred to be lap dogs. All they care about is looking cute and cuddling with people. Meanwhile my grandma has a border collie and that dog needs to feel so useful all the time, he acts like he will pass away if he doesn't have a job to do constantly

#While I agree with this it's also important to teach them to chill? #Like we've got an Aussie and she'd probably agree to working all day every day #BUT that would make for a super nervous dog #So doing too much too early hurts just as much as doing too little #Like I wanted an Aussie because I wanted to work with her but I want to do everything #Which would mean 5 to 6 days a week dog school activities #Which is too much and would probably make her very anxious whenever she has downtime #Don't worry a little sibling for her is being planned but I'm only gonna start looking when my princess turns 3 #So yeah give them jobs but also days off and pay with all your love cause they deserve it

Saddest thing ever is reading an academic paper about a threatened or declining species where you can tell the author is really trying to come up with ways the animal could hypothetically be useful to humans in a desperate attempt to get someone to care. Nobody gives a shit about the animals that “don’t affect” us and it seriously breaks my heart

A thing that bothers me about wizard schools in popular media – outside of the magic-grade-school stuff, anyway – is that they're typically depicted as being basically magic universities, but their actual curricula and pedagogical approaches look much more like those of a technical institution. Like, buddy, that's not a wizard university, that's a wizard trade school. You can't just slap university student culture on top of trade school pedagogy. It doesn't work like that – the one emerges from the other!
