The interesting thing is that his emotions of sadness and frustration could be real actually and he allows himself to show them, because others don't believe that they are real anyway.
Or he is simply playing around and being overdramatic to hide the fact that the emotions inside are actually pretty similar ot those on his face.
After what happened before and is still going on inside him, both makes sense. It could be also a mix of both options.
In the manga he looks more annoyed, I also think so, but what hit me the most was the emptyness in his eyes. It looks like there is no soul in this body. Like he is watching but not seeing. If we see the manga and anime and all possible interpretations as a whole, I think we can get the best picture of his emotional state - a rollercoaster - and not only in this situation. This scene is just a slice.
In any case I would like to know what Buddha thought. He already entered this scene with that specific smile and even went to Loki. I really wonder if Buddha can see thought these illusions of Loki - at least to a certain point.
Even if he can't, he still must understand certain acts and patterns from a psychological point of view. Maybe that's already not at Loki's liking.
The first time I saw this I thought afterwards that Loki is acting to hide real feelings. Now I really think that it's a mix of acting and exposing part of the truth.
He is like a riddle giving hints, believing that it's still to difficult to be solved and being amused about people trying. If someone manages to do it, the riddle pretends to be something completely different and makes you think that you are wrong.
By the way, I thought it was your intention to pick this picture with flowers to light things up. 😆
