Hii, I've got a little fic snippet here that I felt like writing; it's an alternate pov fic of the scene outside of the masquerade ball, so, from Belladonna's perspective instead of Rose's. I know, I know, it feels like every fan has written one of these but I couldn't help but throw in my own take <3

Outside the Masquerade

Belladonna feels Rose put an arm around her and rest her head on her shoulder.

...And the first thing that comes to her mind, is how easy it would be to end everything right here while her guard is down. (The second thing that comes to her mind is how sad it would make Fennel if he knew that was her first thought.)

Regardless of the second, the first persists in her head, like a moth fluttering around a light-bulb.

It really would be so easy, wouldn't it? Her guard is down, she's in a masquerade costume so it's probably not the most suited to defense, and with the two of them out here alone, she could probably easily finish the job before one of Rose's friends showed up to help her.

It would be easy. So, so, easy.

...But Belladonna doesn't move.

Well, she tells herself, it wouldn't really be that easy. Maybe her outfit isn't the most suited to defense, but mine isn't the most suited to attack either.

I could use magic. But that's fire magic- even if it's not as bright as pure light magic, it would draw attention, so I can't guarantee it wouldn't draw one of her friends.

She tells herself, I don't want the reward for capturing Rose anyway. Being Radiance's right hand? Clearly that didn't make my father any more safe than anyone else. Being given that position wouldn't change anything. I'd just be a slightly more useful tool. Why bother?

Besides, even if Radiance didn't end up killing me on a whim, Isabeth probably would. She's the one who wants the position so bad. Well, she can have it.

But really, those reasons she tells herself are just covers for the real answer, a very small one.

Simply put, she doesn't want to. And if Radiance can't see her from here, she doesn't have to.

I made a uquiz for what kind of magic would come naturally to you in the aRoIiS universe!

I remember taking a LOT of these back in the day, so I thought I'd make one of my own, now that it's having it's renaissance thanks to @icerosesummerbracket

[OOC: okay, so basically what I was trying to do here was introduce a basic concept for a magic system via uquiz. My idea was that similar to the four phlegm based temperaments, in this universe everyone could have element based temperaments. Anyone can practice any type of magic, but based on your temperament(s), some come more naturally, and some are so hard, they're simply not worth the effort. I also had the revolutionary idea, that doing magic (brace yourselves) could actually be Quite Hard and Exhausting, so the closer the nature of the magic is to your innate temperament, the easier time you'll have with it. If anyone has any other ideas for this, PLEASE tell me. The names for the different subtypes of magic could also use some work. My spelling probably sucks, so excuse that please. As a disclaimer, it's been years since I read the books, so this might be wildly inaccurate in places, idk, but I think I got the general vibes down! I feel like it ended up leaning more towards Etienne than Currant, haha, but it's still focused on their dynamic rather than just Etienne's personality or relationship with other chraracters. So I hope I managed to capture that!

hey what's up everyone @icerosesummerbracket has gotten me obsessed again with a series i hadn't thought about for almost a DECADE, so, as the first post of this AROIIS sideblog, I used this picrew to make some of my FAVES... in order, Rose, Kivan, Chance, Etienne, and Currant!! sorry abt the picrew not having an eyepatch or anything similar for Rose. i hc Etienne and Currant as sharing pronouns in turns just like how they would share clothes if they had a more similar fashion sense, btw, if u even care. also i know Chance has purple hair for most of the series but i love ALL their hair colors equally and i chose the peachy pink one.
