What is this au about?

Corruption Scars is an au that is canon divergent, breaking off at the start of Fragments. It breaks off when Steven runs away, as he begins to corrupt, but very slowly due to being half-organic. Jasper rescues him and the two begin to live together while his family searches for him, all while inside of him his corruption is slowly beginning to worsen.

How old is this au?

Corruption Scars has been a thing since 2020! It started as me and a pal discussing the 'what-ifs' of Steven keeping corruption scars, which snowballed quickly into me formulating an entire au based off of it! The actual blog has existed for...uh...maybe as long? I forget lol. I had originally posted a different version of the fanfic but decided to rewrite it, and the rewritten version is the one linked in this post!

God I need to make like. An FAQ. Even tho I haven't gotten many questions at all I still feel the need to make like some kind of intro post. I wish I was better at promoting my own au bc I genuinely love this project but in comparison to some of the bigger Aus (WHICH I LOVE. SERIOUSLY THIS COMMUNITY IS SO COOL YOU ALL ARE AMAZING) I am but a shrimp. How do I draw Steven good??? Asking for a friend. I am thankful for the handful of ppl I do have though. Just got done reading Ch.6 a few minutes ago and I absoloutley loved it! 10/10!

But I also wanted to say that I love the little notes you leave in the tags, most of the time they crack me up and leave me laughing my ass off, but I literally just noticed the ones about me earlier today and I nearly cried cause I was like 🥹 "Awww omg thank you so much!!!"

Chapter 6 is up! Which means that I will now be entering the longest period of no updating so far for this fic, because chapter 7 is going to be *at least* 23-25 pages on google docs if I can help it. Chapter 8 might be a little less but 20 is the minimum because I want to write as much as I can considering the pace the story has been progressing.

Okay so idk if you still wanna rant about little ideas but I just have to ask about Bismuth's injury.

Like is it gonna be a permanent issue kinda like a bad arm/leg, where it's just kinda sore all the time, or is it gonna be more like Pink Pearl/Volleyball's eye? Where it's gonna be a permanent scar/injury regardless of if sje poofs or not.

I'm just extremely curious about how things are gonna go down for her in regards to it cause DAMN. Sounds like Steven messed her arm up BADLY.

Oh, odds are the scar is going to stick. The situation was 100% high on emotions and the image of a half corrupted kid that you've known for years attempting to maul you seemingly on purpose doesn't exactly go away. She can get it healed a little bit in a different way to help with the pain, but even if it feels better, she's probably going to keep that scar no matter what. It might hurt somewhat from time to time, but she could get the physical pain taken away with the right Gem's help. In other words: she won't be in constant horrible pain like she was after the initial attack.

The idea of what he did is going to stick though, he injured her in a physical manner but the way he did so not only forces the scar to remain in some way, but the hurt that it does to her emotionally might make it stay. It's possible that the deep scars could turn into simple surface level scars, but if it does, those are going to stay. Regardless of how bad they look in appearance, she's always going to have five marks along her arm.

It won't hurt her anymore than just the arm though! Maybe it'll hurt her emotions pretty bad because OUCH what a thing to deal with, but she'll live through it.
