Sollux grinned at Eridan's discomfort, gladly letting go of his wrist to let him wrench away. "One: yes, you're flirting. I don't know what the mermaid customs are for that, but that was what you were doing. Sure, in a really fucked-up, kinky way, that's probably rooted in some deep-set trauma you have. But that was flirting -- or at least it had some damn heavy undertones."

He rubbed his wrist where Eridan had gripped it, more than a little unnerved to see the grooves the mer's sharp claws had dug into his skin. But he pushed it aside, and looked back up again, raising his eyebrows. "Two: I was mostly joking, just to see if you'd actually take the bait -- no pun intended. Honestly, though..." Sollux trailed off, biting his lip. He refuses to sound fucking desperate, or like some sort of slut. But he still wants to say it. "...What else are we supposed to do on this island? It'll take awhile for me to build a shelter. Even longer to... what, build a boat? Is that how I'm going to try to get off of here? I meant it when I said we could be doing something more fun. There is like jack shit to do otherwise."

An island like this would be a dream come true for some of the more... adventurous types back in town. But Sollux was never one of those people. He was one of the people who made fun of those people, while running his twentieth set of codes for a Minecraft mod that played the entire Bee Movie script whenever you killed a creeper. But he didn't have his computer with him. He didn't have anything with him, besides this one outfit and this aggravating but intriguing mermaid.

Sollux, quite honestly at a loss for what to do, decided at this moment to say a fervent 'fuck it' and give in to the situation. He had daydreampt about scenarios exactly like this before -- now that it was actually happening, shouldn't he let himself enjoy it? Granted, Eridan was usually awake in the scenarios he had played out in his head... but beggars can't be choosers, right? At least, that's what he told himself as he wrapped his arms around Eridan's body, one hand at his waist and the other resting gently at the nape of his hair. Sollux sighed, gazing fondly down at the seadweller sprawled across his body, fast asleep. Eridan's face looked softer, more at peace -- more than Sollux had ever seen while Eridan was awake, at least. He wasn't sure if that made him happy or sad. At least he was peaceful now, he supposed. Sollux rubbed soft circles on the back of Eridan's neck, making him hum in his sleep and burrow closer. God. This was too good. Sollux didn't know how he was supposed to keep on living his life after something like this happens. Fuck.]]

Eridan stirred a little, but didn't wake, and Sollux breathed a sigh of relief, thanking the Mother Grub for Eridan's light body and apparently heavy sleep cycle. He looked around the room, eyes landing on the couch at the corner. He eased his was across the floor and attempted to disentangle Eridan from himself to set on the cushions. Eridan made some sort of whining sound and hugged Sollux closer, and in that moment he swore he ascended to another plane of reality. Okay, okay, fine. If Eridan wasn't going to let go of him, then he didn't have to. It's not like he was complaining. He set them both down on the couch, similar to their first position, but much more comfortable. Sollux fell back on the pillows there, sighing, and Eridan took this opportunity to maneuver entirely on top of Sollux, arms wrapped around his chest. Sollux's breath hitched as the seadweller's weight pushed down on him. Oh god. Oh fuck. This wasn't good. He liked this way too fucking much.]]

Okay, that snapped Sollux right out of whatever stunned stupor he was in. He narrowed his eyes, bringing his hand not currently trapped up to grip Eridan's wrist where he held his shoulder. Good thing he actually had decent core strength, so he didn't go flopping to the ground. In fact, he used his leverage to pull himself up more, closer to the mermaid, so their faces were only inches apart. It was a challenge. A dare.

"Right, yeah, sorry about that. I guess I was too busy not being a fish-scaled freak of nature to worry that much about my name." His lips curled up into a smirk. "Why did you even save me? So insecure that you needed to rescue some poor human to make yourself feel better about your own useless life? Maybe you're just lonely. Maybe you just fucking hate yourself."

This was familiar. Being a dick to people. Nevermind that this wasn't actually, well, a person. Sollux was in his element.

He turned the necklace over in his hands, feeling the cool loops of the chain, tracing the shape of the heart with his finger. Holy shit. Eridan had gotten this for him? But why- how- what?
