Sleeping in makeup ? No Ma'am !

Sleeping in makeup? Girl what are you doing!? This chocolate does not crunch, meaning me and acne do not get along. Usually, I remove my makeup first with a makeup remover wipe. You can purchase these anywhere at your local dollar store. Some brands I like and recommend are Patrick Star One size, Neutrogena, or the Olay brand. So, After I removed majority of my makeup with the makeup remover wipe. This is where I go in with any oils or serum or even Vaseline to remove any access makeup that I missed with wipe. After the oil I wash my face. Depending on what my skin needs I wash accordingly. I typically use a Natural base organic brand founded here in Arkansas called BBE Skincare line, but I also use Neutrogena and Biore. Here, I recommend that you should use whatever is best for you. I also recommend exfoliating once a week or twice a month. And keep your skin moisturized daily. I hope you sleep well.

30 Minute Brows

Why is drawing your eyebrows that big of a deal anyways? Why do they take thirty minutes of solid concentration? And with steady hands, I might add! It is not as bad as when you are trying to apply liquid eyeliner. It will give you anxiety. I constantly must remind myself to breathe. *breathes* In all honesty the process is only intense as you make it. “I don’t know how to draw on eyebrows” said someone who has never tried. All you to do is place the brow product in your brow are. It does not matter about the shape because you are going to clean it up anyways as you carve out the shape of an eyebrow using concealer. It is as simple as 1,2,3 do not get in your mind! It is like Nike; you just have to go for it and just do it. Also, a quick tip in relation to brows are if there freshly groomed all you have to do to “Clean it up” is apply concealer under. For a more structured brow or if you need maintenance then I would recommend outlining the top and bottom.

How to Highlight & Contour for Beginners

Hey Babes! Today we are going to be discussing how to highlight and contour. Highlighting and contouring are some of the most vital steps in makeup application. We, as makeup artists love to say there are no rules in makeup because rules can curate limitations to creativity. Makeup is makeup. Do what you want and how you want.  However, there are some little rules to the makeup application process that we like to go by while highlighting and contouring. The highlight is the light shade of the concealer. This shade is normally 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone. Contour is the dark shade of concealer. This shade is typically 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone. You want to highlight your “T-zone" area. This is the center of the face. Areas like under your eyes, the bridge of your nose, center of your forehead above the top lip, and sometimes chin. These are the areas you would typically like to bring forward or bring light to. Contour is used to create, enhance, or define a shadow. You would normally place contour in areas such as the contours or hollows of your cheeks, the perimeter of the forehead, the sides of your nose, and sometimes the jawline.  

The first step to Highlighting and contouring is determining your face shape. There are six shapes to consider when trying to determine which shape fits best. These shapes are Oval, round, long, square, heart, and diamond. You want to make sure you have a concealer one to two shades lighter than your skin tone and another concealer (foundation, powder...) one to two shades darker than your skin tone. With your lighter concealer, you want to place it in the areas where you will want to bring forward or to simply conceal. With your darker concealer, you want to place it in the areas where you want to add more depth. Step 3 is the most important because you want to thoroughly blend so that there are zero lines of demarcation. You want to start by blending the highlight out but in its place. As you begin to blend so that contour is not so harsh. Afterwards, you would set your entire face with a clear or translucent powder to “set” makeup or to keep makeup from moving. Now that you are done highlighting and contouring you are free to complete this makeup application process. Once you complete the look, the last step for your makeup application, you want to get a makeup setting spray of some sort to set but also rejuvenate your face from the powders so that your makeup application does not look cakey.
