I think the characterization of Hannibal Lecter as this heartless, comically villainous villain is such a weird misreading of him. He is malicious at times, and cruel, and definitely sadistic, but it’s never anything so focused and conniving as the fandom seems to believe. A lot of his actions are impulsive or done out of curiosity — what will Will do if I frame him? How will Clarice react if I send her perfumes and letters? I don’t even think he’s like evil, so much as totally amoral/existing on his own moral plane. Anyways, I say all this to say, I love that Hannibal’s a snooty bitch who runs on vibes and ‘What if’ and ‘idk I think the universe is gonna collapse in on itself one day so why not’
