I took a look at @pineappical ‘s post with Ted and Beard being ponies and thought “hey, I’m a pony artist. I can do this!”
so, I did! I present the Diamond Colts! (I mean, there are Diamond dogs in My Little Pony, but that’s for later. )
(these color pallets are 100% inspired by ponies from the show, I’ll give you bonus points if you can guess them. Also I’m very sorry love I stole the cutie marks you had for Ted and beard y’all come yell at me later)

You have to admit it's extremely funny that Ted Lasso broke up their beloved power couple at the beginning of the season and, rather than having their romantic leads work on themselves separately so that they could reunite stronger and healthier at the end of the season (like literally everyone predicted they would), they had their leading man spiral so far into codependency with their leading woman's ex boyfriend that they both became completely insufferable and off-putting to her

I’ve said before that I think it could make sense that Nate might want to return as assistant kitman for a little bit - to concentrate on being happy, to be one with the guys, to join in with all the team rituals he was barred from in S1. I also think that, going by clips from 3x12 and dialogue from 3x11, it’s not ridiculous to assume that he ended up back as coach, and that the kitman stint was intended as temporary (and likely done at Nate’s instigation).
However, do to that well it really needed a couple of additional scenes, which I can only assume had to be cut to save time…
-
“Good to have you back, mate,” Colin says, coming up to Nate while the team come together, chatting and laughing over Isaac’s costume. “But what are you doing as assistant kitman? We thought you were gonna be our coach again.”
“Oh! Oh, I know that. But, you know, it was all very sudden, and there wouldn’t have been time to draw up a new coaching contract before the season ended, and I still wanted to return in whatever capacity I could, and I - ” Nate’s cheerful ramble ends, his gaze slides over to where Will is shaking Isaac’s hand, “I had some unfinished business here, you know? Besides, I always enjoyed spending time in the locker room with you lot.”
“Glad to hear it, boyo. But you’re going to be coaching us next season, right? We didn’t trek it all the way over to Tooting just to set you up doing laundry, you know.”
“Hey, I’ll have you know that my fabric softener blend has been much sought after by members of the team,” Nate snarks. “And their mums.”
Colin just looks flatly at Nate.

I understand the appeal of unrequited Royjamie because obviously Jamie is very wet and pathetic and nobody wants him etc but I also don't really get it because Roy is OBSESSED with Jamie. Like insanely insanely obsessed. He fucked his ex-girlfriend, he tried to fuck his mom, he went out of his way to create a situation that would allow him to spend hours alone with him every day, he watched his TV show almost the entire time they were apart, he's fixated on his genitals, he ended his career overextending himself to tackle him, etc etc etc etc.... He's CRAZY

Higgins is a jazz aficionado! He would LOVE the US. Someone take him to New Orleans! Or Kansas City, or Chicago, or Detroit! Nate is a genius that knows the distance between London and Kansas off the top of his head and makes a point of being prepared for anything, you bet he’s have a ten page list of things to do around Wichita, and they’d all be awesome! Jamie likes Stevie Nicks, he’d get a kick out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio!
Would loveeee to see Higgins go on a jazz tour around the u.s.!! I need a spinoff of that asap! Or someone to write a fic of it lol!
Oh you know Nate would be so prepared, he'd find every cool nook and cranny of Wichita! If I had to choose a character from Ted to go on a trip with, it would definitely be Nate, he'd make such a fun itinerary!
Jamie would have an absolute blast going to concerts and different rock and roll museums! I love museums, and I didn't know the rock and roll hall of fame was in Ohio! Now I wanna go lol!

I’m so sorry! That was absolutely meant as commiseration, I am from the Midwest, and even though I’m on one of the coasts now, I’m just so annoyed at the disdain with which the Ted Lasso fandom seems to regard it. Like, of course people can want him to stay, but there is zero cause for how aghast people are at the very idea that, say, Rebecca might visit Kansas. What on Earth could a woman who canonically likes horses and grew up in a relatively rural area see in the non-NYC or LA parts of the US, surely it’s degrading to go! Roy’s snide remarks about Ted’s homesickness for a Dodge Ram aside, we’ve seen his car, he’d fit right in! No one in the world could convince me that Keeley would not love the Cheesecake Factory or the brand of fun specific to college towns! Dani would be delighted at coming to a country that knows how to make decent tacos! It’s just deeply annoying.
❤️❤️❤️ yay no worries!!
Exactly!! you totally get it anon, there are so many things to love about the Midwest. It is deeply saddening how many people lash out against the place as if there's something fundamentally wrong with living in Kansas.
And I would love to hear more of your headcanons of what things different Richmond peeps would enjoy about Kansas! Cause you can't tell me they're not gonna come visit Ted!

Didn’t you hear, there can’t possibly be anything good in the American Midwest, no one could ever enjoy living there at all when it’s just some backwater with no culture at all, the snobbish disregard for a place that he loves definitely couldn’t have made Ted feel alienated from London and Londoners! Definitely nothing terrible about London, it’s not like Sam got hate crimes a mere few episodes before the finale! Also, as a Desi person, I have had better Indian food in the American Midwest than I have in London, and if Trent Crimm is such an idiot as to think “I can’t imagine there’s good Indian food” there, he can’t possibly have been a good journalist.
I'm hoping that you sent this as commiseration, and not that something I said made it seem like I thought there's nothing redeemable about the American Midwest! I'm going to assume the former hehe ^_^
Being a southerner, and having a partner from the Midwest, I am very familiar with casual derogatory comments toward the middle of the U.S. and the southern part as completely useless places (and worse things) and it never stops being utterly frustrating! And heartbreaking, honestly. I'm not even sure how it begins to translate overseas to Britain, where I'm sure people might be even more unaware of the diversity of these areas of the U.S.
And I 100% believe what you said about Indian restaurants in the Midwest. I haven't spent too much time in that area of the country, so I haven't tried Indian food there, but as for the south, Memphis has some great Indian food, especially around the suburb of Collierville, where there is a significant Indian population! There's an indiafest they hold in that area yearly, and the food is just phenomenal. That's only one example, and yet I hear people talk about the south like it's a monolith of whiteness, like sorry the gerrymandered maps managed to make u forget about all the poc 🙄
To bring it back to Ted, I 100% think that him missing home was a big part of him deciding to go back. He went to that American restaurant, and despite the absolute silliness of the atmosphere there, it was like suddenly being back home (if he squinted and ignored that the waiter didn't know that Chicago = Windy City). When I visited China, my friend and I found an American burger restaurant. I don't even like burgers but sitting in there and eating a burger, seeing Tabasco sauce from my home state of Louisiana, it was enough to get me a bit homesick. and I knew I was going home in a couple of weeks! Imagine Ted, who at that point hadn't decided to go home, missing it so keenly in that moment.
I know people wanted Ted to stay in London. High-key i wanted Ted to stay in London. I wish Henry had moved to London and Ted had stayed with all the friends he had made. But I do see people taking out their anger/sadness about him going home by dumping on the Midwest saying oh gross the midwest why would he ever want to live there? Like the real-life Midwest has no redeemable qualities. And that kind of mindset is not only ignorant and rude, it also does absolutely no one any good at all.

Gonna go tell my midwestern father who spent years coaching my youth soccer teams that his life is boring and pointless and his character arc would’ve been better if he lived 4000 miles away and parented over facetime
