I'm hoping to make a comeback next month, or even sooner. This month I'm sure has been rough for everyone so I took a creative break in between being sick.
I will resume ASAP but please, know that things will still roll when I get to them and I'll restart my queue so everyone can get their stuff soon ♡
* ˚ ✦ I apologize for the delay in so much and then radio silence
I got very sick on the 31st and I think I'm finally in the recovery stage ♡
I'll resume everything as soon as possible !

“ rich coming from the guy who tried to kill me three days ago. “ (WoL Kijin to the Bioweapon Data AU we talked briefly about—)
meme
"You want to keep acting like a baby getting love for the first time, or actually listen to what I'm about to say?" Came a echoing sound from the rafters of the building in which the two of them found themselves in. It was unfortunate, really - given the circumstance.
After laying the dagger-like claws against the other's throat, only keeping inches away from the jugular, one wouldn't be surprised that it wouldn't be taken seriously. Sounded more like a way to keep someone away from the suspicions as opposed to an actual thing.
A flash of red, and the Warrior of Light was likely to see, just beyond the wooden boards above, the metal rods, a pair of beaming eyes. His breathing had gone unsteady, a hand resting against his chest before the weapon itself jolted away.
His extensive ears, pierced and also straggled by whatever force of nature he'd crawled from, twitched when his claws tapped at the ceiling. "You sound exhausted."
' You kicked me in the chest you asshole. '
"I needed you to lay down somehow." Finally it came down, the weapon known to the Scions as the Firebard of Garlemald was finally down from its holding space. Sharpened blade-like nails that held paralyzing toxins. A bite that many believed had been laced with Black Rose. Eyes drugged with a bio-luminescent crimson, some believed weren't even its real eyes.
It was the song that it sang that coaxed the Warrior of Light to come back again and again and again. It was the trill-like siren tunes that had them inches from each other's faces after every battle. He'd never been harmed by it.
It never harmed him, until now. Now when he had been finally at a disadvantage, it did nothing. As though it nearly didn't want to. It, it they called it - He, was how X'kijin dared to address it. It sounded so much better, fitting . . . humanizing.
At first emerald eyes didn't want to look at the crimsons that were getting closer, but it was rather hard when they were now at eye-level, the Firebard finally crouching like that of a Miqo'te to see him face-to-face. The Scions had done their research - a poor unsuspecting Bard that stayed out too long in Garlemald, captured, kidnapped - and re-enhanced.
There was someone underneath all of that, now a weapon against his will, so the rumors had it. It made X'kijin sick to look at, mostly because he believed the other didn't deserve that. Someone who didn't see it coming, now a weapon to do others bidding. "Are you going to listen to me now? I'm serious, they want me to kill you. They want your death to be slow, painful - by Black Rose. They want me to bite you, make sure you don't get away, and make sure you don't get out alive."
Tumblr media
He saw the way X'kijin grimaced and looked away. ' Not something you tell the one you're supposed to hurt. '
The Firebard shook his head. "I'm telling you because I want you to know. They made me specifically with you in mind. You're too strong otherwise, but nothing can beat Black Rose. You have to understand, I don't want to kill you."
A pair of ears flicked, and this time they finally met face-to-face, eye-to-eye. It almost sounded like something from a fever dream, something so fake and so unnatural. Though the harder he looked, the more he realized that maybe there was some humanity in there, something that used to be a true individual that had been scraped of their life far too soon.
"My throat hurts, my head hurts - I'm covered in armor that's metal and stuck to my body. Hidden under this, I'm not - they did this to me. They made me to hurt you. I don't want to hurt you, I want my life back, I want me back."
The endless screaming, the tugging on belts looped around his wrists to tie him down against a metal table whilst others pressed to his body. The in and out of consciousness, the times the anesthesia wore off in the middle of procedures. The tears and side effects that came with it. He'd been under heavy watch during his recovery, the way he could hardly keep anything down as it messed with the Black Rose that churned in his makeshift body.
His voice, a music box that had no sense nor reason to quiet and stop, it would simply keep playing, keep going. The weight that bore down in his hands, the massive headaches that wrapped into his skull from the poison that altered his eye colors. The cataracts from his real eyes, just to give him more of a violent underlayer. The Firebard felt . . . betrayed.
"So promise me one thing - you're the only one coming out alive. I want you to tear me apart with no way to stop yourself. I'm not going to live in shambles like this. I refuse to put up with this charade any longer. I don't want to be a weapon - I want you to set me free. Please . . . take me home, even if it's in pieces."

"Have you been well, my friend?" Haurchefant addressed Data with the same gentle, friendly demeanor as he always had. Still, he was not blind to the distress the Scions felt as they waited anxiously for permission to seek full refuge in Ishgard. He was confident that his words had swayed his father, at least, but there were others that Count Edmont would need to persuade for the correct paperwork.
It would work out, though, he was certain.
"Young Alphinaud mentioned you have been assisting those in Camp Dragonhead all morning. Come settle in by the fire and warm yourself; though grateful for your endless assistance, I fear my men might be growing too dependent on your kindness."
The door to the Intercessory opened, a gust of busting wind brushing so heavily through it just as the young Miqo'te shut it with a gentle sigh. He tugged on the string of his bow before the words caught his attention, ears flicking to catch them as though he feared that he'd miss them should he not pay any closer attention to them.
His expression grew gentle at Haurchefant, dusting off some of the excess snow and flakes that collected along his clothing as he sauntered right in. It almost didn't occur to him that he looked like he'd been shivering, the way one of his ears took a little more time to flick than normal.
"I have, it's just really cold outside. I'm still getting used to the cold. . ." Tykha's hand rested down against the table as his shadow cast itself against the wall upon being flashed by the burning of ambers at the fireplace. It was way too nice of Haurchefant to allow him, Alphinaud and Tataru refuge from the cold for the time being.
All the hustling and bustling just to keep his attention elsewhere and helping those along the camp was one of the few and least things he could do. There was more, but it was only a matter of time before his presence was sought after to join the young Elezen and Lalafell in the building. Of that . . . he was more than grateful.
Tumblr media
"Oh, your men? No, of course not. I'm just surprised they are as understanding as all that, given the circumstances. Please, there's too much sorrow and misfortune to stop and decide when it's best to stop helping."
He pressed his hands to his lips, and felt the sudden burning ice of his fingertips resting against his own skin, cheeks quite reddening at the realization.
"Though a rest would probably be best. I'm just glad everyone is okay. I'm sure Tataru is in a state. Gosh where is she . . . been meaning to check up on her. I saw Alphinaud recently. . ."
Aaah . . . but maybe his attention would be better set on Haurchefant, now that it was just the two of them. Tykha found a chair closest to the fire and shuffled himself into it, reaching his hand out to gesture for the other to sit down too. Sometimes others more equipped for the snow and blizzard terrain could still use a break from it every now and again.
"Thank you for all that you're doing. Helping us get to Ishgard, allowing us to stay here. We didn't know where else to go, running so quickly away seemed like more than the first step, but I didn't see an end in sight. I'm sure you're exhausted too, why don't you stay with me a bit."
How much time had passed?
How long had he been awake? When was the last time he saw the sun, it must've been about ten hours since he got up, maybe more. . . All he knew was that he was really craving hot chocolate more than usual now.

PROMPTS FOR BEST FRIENDS WHO DON'T REALIZE THEY'RE TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER *  assorted dialogue, adjust as necessary
what do you mean? i've always been okay with you dating other people. for some reason, this time just feels different.
do you think you could ever see us as more than friends?
i compare anyone i ever date to you. is that weird?
did they actually think we were dating? that's a little strange.
do you get asked a lot if we're a couple?
you're my best friend. i would never want to risk our friendship.
our friendship matters more to me than anything. i don't ever want you to leave my life.
i'll admit. i've started looking at you differently... in a good way.
guess i never realized how beautiful you are.
would you consider this a date?
seeing you with them... it made me so mad. i can't explain the feeling.
i'm afraid i'll lose you. i can't risk it.
you're not just my best friend, you're my... nevermind. forget i said anything.
sooner or later you'll probably realize you've been in love with me this whole time.
i don't want to ruin our friendship. that's the main issue i have.
but what if you're the one for me?
do you believe in soulmates?
no one else compares with you.
of course i care about you. you're my best friend. you always will be.
wow. you look... absolutely breathtaking.
i know i'm not supposed to have feelings for you, but i do.
they said we'd make a cute couple, you know.
if no one asks you, and no one asks me... maybe we could go to the dance together. as friends.
i'm always going to be by your side. that's what best friends do.
i won't let anything happen to you. i promise.
you have no idea the lengths i would go through to keep you safe.
you don't treat anyone else like this. just me.
how long have you had feelings for me?
whatever happens, we can't let this get in the way of our friendship.
what's a kiss between friends?
best friends cuddle. this is normal. this doesn't have to be romantic.
i've always viewed you differently than other people.
you're so special to me, and you don't even realize it.
i've never cared about anyone like i care about you.
i just don't want them to get in the way of our friendship.
when were you going to tell me you were seeing someone? i thought i was the first person you told about that stuff.
don't you get it? they're not you.
i'm not in love with them. i have feelings for someone else, someone i can't have.
would it make things weird between us if i kissed you right now?
no, i'm not staring at your lips. what are you talking about?
my parents keep insisting that we'd make a great couple.
you've always been my first priority.
you said something earlier about the people you love.
could you ever see yourself loving me?
and what about me? do you love me?
maybe we could go on a date sometime. an actual date where i plan nice things and bring you flowers.
i've been in love with you since the day we met. there. i said it. happy now?

The Exarch kept his hand against hers as they left the Exedra, seeing nothing but the lights of the lanterns and the pillars that surrounded them. The buildings began to glow with the crystalline blue that had always been a trademark for the Crystarium. Shining when the glimmer of the moon - or what should've been the moon - had cast itself onto them. One couldn't remember when something like this had happened before, when the moon had actually been seen.
He found himself slowly curling his fingers against hers, keeping them looped in with his where he could thumb them against the skin, the smoothed edges, the warmth that ran through them. Polished even, painted when they wished. Something like a small detail that he almost believed others wouldn't have noticed.
They got to the steps of the Universalis, downwards they went, where the expanse used to be covered with those that could craft, those who wished to shop for things, and those that wanted nothing more than to have a meal before shutting their windows for the night that never came.
He could finally move to let Stella shuffle from his side to his front, where their hands both met and kept themselves close, just enough for them to bridge the gap between them, secure a better way for them to look at each other.
Though when the Au Ra began to speak, if only she could see the way his eyes turned up, focused entirely on her, though remaining concealed underneath the hood. If only his smile did more to express how he was truly feeling. "Yes, as a matter of fact. Much of the songs that you may here around the Crystarium may have once came with lyrics, notes and tunes that were played with vocals. However, not always. Many of the songs that I used to sing were only for Lyna when she was younger. I suppose being a Bard had its advantages."
Though it would be wrong to say that portion of his life, that part of the ship of his journey had all sailed away. He'd barricaded himself from his past, began anew, swiped what he used to be in favor of what he should be - and he was how the Crystarium saw itself. Whilst it wasn't the most thought out place of civilization, it was something that managed to last for . . . far too long to realize.
The two of them finally began to spin, just as the music began to it. Their legs carried them in time with the sound, in time with the tunes and the strings and the hums of the various instruments that filled the Universalis. So many had vanished, so many had disappeared when they knew the time that it left only them and a few others that wandered, but most knew what they were doing out at this time and chose to keep their own to their work.
At some point the Exarch dared to look down at their feet, to make sure that they were surely stepping in time and in tune with one another, through the spins, the dips, the gentle sways of their hips when they wanted to get close together. When they wanted to spread apart.
A gentle gasp left his throat when she asked about the Lady Exarch. It would've been folly to think that she wouldn't be talked to about it. Or rather heard anything about her, curious as she was, there wouldn't be a time where she hadn't asked. Haven't sought out the answers on her own. Hiding it, shielding it from her . . . it would only bring her more into the curiosity, or that he couldn't quite bear the truth to her when he wanted to. "I cannot keep anything from you ere long can I, my dear?"
Tumblr media
He kept Stella close, bringing her in so that only the two of them could hear the words that were about to be said when he was about to speak. It seemed so unfair to keep her in the dark about certain things, about various words and the history. That's when they slowly began to turn around and around before they moved into a stop.
"It is true that I harbor some . . . relatively affectionate feelings for you. Something of which I believe I do not deserve nor do I have the right to have. Though I confess I may have concealed them for an extended period of time there was no telling how long I would have been able to keep these emotions from you. I think it unfair and unwise, given the situation - but if I were to . . ."
She had begun to pull away, she was starting to get away, so much so that he could feel the way her hand was slipping out of his, away from his.
He had frightened her.
"Do not be frightened, it was not an overstep - nor was it unwarranted. I merely believe that it is important that you speak what you wish. I see no harm in wishing to know the truth I have sheltered from you, that is something which is quite unfair."
Though these words had not been enough, not nearly enough. When the two of them had broken away, even just a little bit, they had collided. Mostly due to the fact that they'd shuffled forward, but he could feel the breeze of the collision move toward his hood, and proceed to shift it ever so slightly.
Ah - Now that was something that was going to worry him above anything else. Mayhap he had some idea that she was slightly aware of his identity, slightly aware of the one concealed under the hood. One couldn't keep such a secret from the one who had seen more than she had bargained for.
"Steady, my dear. Steady. . ." She had seen those eyes, the way his eyes glimpsed up at her, she had noticed the shade. It was unfortunate that he too knew, for the way her eyes themselves betrayed her, oh he would've burst into tears. "Do not fret. . ." He grabbed for her face, hoping she'd look at him. Though the concealment did little to sway her from what she had already known, it may have been enough to keep her upright. "I am here, I swore I would never lie to you. Mayhap you know now. . . Stay with me."
All he wished for them was a dance.
Now he caught her mid-collapse, down into the floorings of the Universalis, speaking her name before her head could ever dare to hit the ground. Things had been a blur, things would remain a blur, but the Exarch didn't stride away. Nor did he dare whisk himself away when she needed him. No - no this would not do.
He had some explaining to do.
"Get me my finest healers, hurry!" His hand never left her cheek, not until she had been transported elsewhere, away from whatever prying eyes sought out the tunes of the Crystarium when one could not sleep.
Tumblr media
Stella felt a twinge of guilt as the thought crossed her mind that perhaps it was selfish to pry into the Exarch's past? She had noticed that he always seemed to avoid the topic whenever it was brought up, and she wasn't foolish or blind to the fact that there was something he was trying to hide.
The Au Ra's mind took her back to a conversation she had with Lyna the previous night. In that moment, the gatekeeper had shared with her about the Exarch's past and her concern that he was still keeping so much of his feelings hidden. Every time she listened to his voice, she could hear so much pain behind each word. The way he tried to act okay when the reality was he was hurting so much. Slowly, her hand raised up and gently touched his face. It looked like he would pull away for a moment, but he didn't; instead, he had raised some of her hair and pressed his lips to it.
As soon as his hand touched hers, she felt a sudden wave of warmth spreading across her cheeks, turning them crimson. It was as if time had stopped and all she could focus on was the touch of his skin against hers. His quick retreat only added to her confusion and embarrassment, but before he could say anything, she found herself reaching out to him, her hand instinctively grabbing his wrist in a gentle yet firm grip.
"You don't have to apologize…it wasn't unwarranted.." mumbled Stella, as she was internally scolding herself for being so blunt. He was the Exarch, and she was the Warrior of Darkness. The two of them had too many responsibilities to focus on such things, or maybe that was just her trying to convince herself that there was nothing more to it yet she knew doing such a thing would be lying to herself.
The more time she spent with the Exarch, the harder it was to focus on anything else. A few of the Scions had even commented on how spaced out the Au Ra seemed to be during their meetings lately or how she would linger behind after just a bit longer to talk to the Exarch. It felt like she was a love-sick puppy wanting him to shower her with affections.
Her cherry blossom eyes gazed up towards the sky as her memory drifted to G'raha. Her heart eternally connected to him; That might explain her internal struggle whenever she and the Exarch found themselves in these intimate moments. The electric sensation against her skin, as their fingers connected, left her feeling both exhilarated and uncertain. His touch manifested a gentle yet resolute nature, revealing a distinct treatment that set her apart from others. She couldn't help but notice the tenderness in his touch as his lips grazed her hair, the strength with which he held her, and the way he made her feel secure, yet doubts lingered, making her wonder if it was all a facade.
The Au Ra’s body betrayed her, reacting to the intimate contact in ways she couldn’t control. Her hands trembled ever so slightly, as if trying to resist the overwhelming emotions coursing through her. She longed to resist, to distance herself, but there was an irresistible allure to his presence. The way he effortlessly captivated her. He could tell her to do anything and she would, but such thoughts were not appropriate.
Gradually, she nodded, as they turned and started walking down the pathway towards the Universalis. Most of the people would’ve headed off to sleep by now. Closing her eyes, the Au Ra listened to the melody that drifted around the area. It was beautiful, reminiscent of a long-forgotten memory that tugged at her heartstrings.
The memory of G'raha and the ballad he had serenaded her with so many months ago flooded her mind. Stretching upwards, her hand found its place on her chest, as the woman slowly endeavored to take a breath. The sights and sounds surrounding her were constant reminders of him and the flood of feelings she had once felt. How many weeks had she attempted to conceal those emotions? To deceive herself into believing that her heart remained unscathed, but the reality was..a part of her had died that day. The moment the doors shut, she sensed her breath hitch in her throat. The memory of that day still lingers, as she can’t help but recall the moment she patiently bided her time until the others had left before walking closer towards the gate. Reaching up, she took a shaky breath as the tears she had been holding back began to stream down her face.
'I love you G'raha....'
Tumblr media
“Lyna told me you sometimes even sing some songs yourself? Is that the bard part of your training?”
He had referred to his expertise in archery, leading her to speculate that it stemmed from his occupation as a bard, although she acknowledged it could be part of her own wishful thinking considering her thoughts were lingering on a certain red-haired scholar. The moment they stepped into the large market area, a gentle melody played in the background. The dancer's face lit up with a smile as she extended her hand towards the Exarch.
“Exarch…dance with me.”
He hesitated, as if unsure, before finally reaching out to grasp her hand, his touch gentle yet firm. As she moved slowly, the Exarch mirrored her motions, swaying from side to side. How much time had passed since she last danced so freely? More often than not, her skills were utilized for combat rather than something as delicate as this. As their hands interwined, she leaned her head against his shoulder, their bodies inching closer with each passing moment.
“Lyna had to learn her dancing from somewhere, right? I realized that it was you who taught her.” whispered Stella.
He appeared to be somewhat embarrassed by the fact that she was the one who took the initiative. The music guided their every move, their foreheads lightly touching as they danced in harmony. As the rain poured down on the roof, Stella closed her eyes and felt a sense of calmness while swaying back and forth. Wrapped in his arms, she encountered a comforting sensation she hadn't felt in such a long time. Not since...
With a shake of her head, the Au Ra chose not to ponder on that at the moment. Night after night, she remained awake, tormented by the same dream, and whenever she managed to find a glimmer of happiness, her thoughts inevitably intruded.
“Exarch..I need to know something..Lyna she told me about the Lady Exarch. It is driving me crazy how tender you are around me, especially considering the fact that people say I look like her. Please tell me the truth about this one thing. Before proceeding, I need to know if you feel something more than friendship towards me.”
It was wrong to say this, but her heart was aching horribly. Stella was well aware that she could never measure up to the Lady Exarch, let alone replace her. Not that she would ever want to. The Exarch had been through alot and she hardly knew how he felt about losing someone so important to him. Lyna had said it was because thinking about her was too painful. That losing the Lady Exarch had devastated the Exarch.
"If you don't care for me in that way...I can handle it. I just want the truth...because we can't keep dancing around the topic..." whispered Stella, as she slowly leaned back from him. There was a pause as the music stopped and felt his body tremble under her touch. The subject of his lost love wasn't something they should focus on right now but, her heart couldn't take it anymore. The way he treated her so much more gentle than everyone else.
"If I have overstepped..I am sorry."
In the midst of retreating, the AU Ra unintentionally collided with the Exarch hood, causing it to fell a bit. As her eyes adjusted, she noticed the unmistakable glimmer of a red eye in the moonlight. The shade of his eyes was so rare and mesmerizing that she would easily recognize them.
"Wait..." Stella whispered, her hand moving towards the Exarch, but suddenly felt her body becoming rigid. An excruciating pain reverberated throughout her forehead, causing the Au Ra to experience tremors in her legs before collapsing onto the slanted floor. It was difficult to stand as images flashed through her head. This wasn't the echo, it felt different yet. The memories weren't her own, yet they felt like they belonged with her.
I would know those eyes anywhere....
As her body toppled forward, the room blurred and twirled in her disoriented vision. Two arms suddenly wrapped around her body, preventing her from hitting the ground as she lost consciousness.

Staring at him wasn't going to do any good. Staring at him wasn't going to make the gaze all the less sad. The way those luminescent green orbs were beholding nothing but terror and sorrow whenever he stared at Data.
He could've faltered, he could've stepped back and shoved the distance further between themselves, but he couldn't. They'd reunited again, they'd been there when they had gazed at one another for the very first time.
Underneath concealed hoods that sheltered whatever betrayal within their eyes they would've had. Neither of them had any idea who had been hiding underneath, for their minds had been clouded by who it could've been and who they wished it had been. Neither of which felt possible to them.
Until that moment when they were able to see each other for the first time. The way their eyes brightened, filled with tears, burned with the memories of what they had seen before. What their dreams had all become. Data wanted so badly to thumb away the tears, and within time, perhaps he had been able to do such a thing.
Cup the cheek that had been so starved of the feelings, the tinges that caressed it, it was almost more than a crime.
He wanted the other to believe. He wanted X'kijin to know that they'd be all right. Even if this, the one before him, staring at him, wasn't who he initially wanted, nor the one he had been hoping for, it couldn't and shouldn't stop them. However, when it came to their next glance over, everything changed.
Data's hand jerked away, eyes wide, mouth agape.
Tykha.
Tumblr media
He stumbled back, away from X'kijin with hands that began to tremble, shake in the air before they lowered to his sides. They did not cease however. This wasn't a word he'd given to just anyone, this wasn't a name he'd gave away to just someone. Though he could've sworn he hadn't the power nor the time to speak it to the one he held the most dear.
"How did - how did you . . . know my name? That's impossible, I - I never got the chance to tell you I -"
How cruel it felt to know that Data in another time, a time where he'd given himself up to make sure this one, X'kijin, had been alive until they made it to the First. How horrifying it was to know that the one who sacrificed himself in his own timeline . . . was never given this outrageous secret.
"I should've told you I - . . . I should've let you know who I was, I didn't know I would lose you I - by the gods forgive me. . ."
The tears had started to pour now. At first they were mere ripples in the corners of his eyes, forming and bubbling more until they craned over and slipped through the barriers and pooled. Finally they came down his cheeks.
Where his hands violently shook into his lips as he covered his mouth to keep the sobs contained the best of his ability, but to that it was weak and quickly overpowered.
"I'm so sorry . . . I should've - I didn't - but you know me, you've seen me. I should've - oh gods. . . I'm so sorry. . ." And he crumbled, finally. When the other could not fight back, nor could he. He wailed into his hands, three small words echoed in his ears. Three small words to follow:
I loved you. I'm so sorry. . .
"don't do this. it's not good for you." Data's hand moves to cup the side of his face, as though attempting to meet his eyes. His eyes are the same, the same as his. Though it's not nearly enough. "we'll live. we'll live, both of us will, please believe me!" - Dark Future AU
MEME ( accepting! ) ⇢ @diademreigned
There was a part of him that still hoped, that was still the man that Data had come to love in another time, in another place. Small a piece though that may have been, it still proved difficult to deny the man in front of him.
The one that he had loved had died. He could still remember the way his mouth had fallen open, the way fingers clawed at his own throat, words gasped out by lungs that could no longer contain air. It had been his fault, his weakness that led them there, that caused Data to stop and protect him over the person who mattered far more.
Everything, he had thought since that very moment, would have been so much better if X'kijin had died in his place, if Data had lived, if that heart of gold had gone on.
Instead, Eorzea had been left with a Warrior of Light mired in selfishness, who cared so little for their plight in the wake of Data's death.
X'kijin was selfish. That was perhaps why he fell so easily to another Data's affections. In this time, this place, this life, he yet lived.
His heart mended at the mere sight of him, despite the moss that grew in its fractured parts like a poisonous lichen that left a permanent ache in it all the same.
"Don't do this." A hand reached to touch him. "It's not good for you."
X'kijin jerked backwards, resistance slight and barely present in the face of the man he had yearned for for so long. All it had taken was a meeting. Just the one and everything that Data was had proved important to him. Everything that he ever would be demanded his unwavering support and X'kijin had offered it and all the love in his heart.
We'll live, we'll live. The repetition of Data's words haunted him, like a ghost he was all too familiar with.
"I—"
He wanted to believe him, he so badly did, but the fear of that loss drove him further back, this time with no wall behind him to block his steps.
And then the wrong words stumbled out, tumbled from his lips so quickly he did not register what he'd said until he saw the way his familiar, beautiful teal blue eyes grew wide.

"I can't, Tykha—"
It was too much. He couldn't. He couldn't.

“ i'm glad you're okay. “ Tataru to Data!
meme
Glad was an understatement, relieved was also an understatement. Had Data dared to be anything more than what he expressed, he'd likely burst into tears.
He was back. They were all back, and it felt like a lifetime before they were all able to make it safely home. Return themselves to their bodies like they were meant to, allowed to be.
When the Miqo'te had opened his eyes in the Rising Stones after resting them whilst sitting on a chair at one of the round tables, he wasn't expecting such words to come so suddenly.
Tataru looked so relieved when he moved out of the seat that he had to positively keep himself from running and hugging her, though he knew that was what she likely deserved.
"It's good to be home. . ."
Finally getting down to her height in a courteous and most respectful kneel, he took one of her hands if she permitted, and held it between his own.
Tumblr media
"I missed you. I know I managed to keep you as updated as possible, but worrying you needlessly wasn't my intention. Are you all right?"
He'd seen her cry, various times, and he'd even opened his arms for her when she needed it. If anyone had the highest of Data's respect it was Tataru, and seeing her under whatever stress and worry this circumstance brought her. . . he'd do everything he could to make it up to her.
"Why don't I make us some tea - I think I owe you for all you've done for me. Plus for making you and Krile worry." And that might as well have been treason in itself.
