The woman thought for a moment before sighing.
“Yeah, some guy is a dark coat. I didn’t get a face. They hid it too well. I wanted to get you outta there before he made any kinda move.”
The last thing she wanted on her conscience was being a bystander. The faunus disliked confrontation, but she wasn’t heartless or stupid.
“I made sure no one followed us, so you’re safe… I guess.”
… In retrospect, this was a really odd thing to do.
“I didn’t see any friends of yours around. Out of all places to sleep, you pick a club?”
“Great...the Organization is
here too...” she muttered to herself
as she slowly came to her senses.
As to which member it was, Kairi had
no idea. She prayed it wasn’t Vanitas,
but he’d been there just one step ahead
of her every single time so far. “I more
of passed out, or was knocked out.”
“Thank you...I’m sorry I didn’t get your
name? I’m Kairi.”

✦ ⸻ ❝me too.❞ she can only assume why this has happened, but she has no proof about her theory—if it can even be called a theory. it’s more of a hunch. she has no time to think of that now, however, and she fights alongside her double to dispatch the heartless surrounding them.
as the darkness is destroyed, the last of the heartless dissipating into black smoke, she turns to look at the other kairi. ❝so… you are me. you are kairi.❞ it’s not a question; she knows that it’s true. it’s easy to recognize herself, even if it’s difficult for her mind to parse.
it’s like staring into a mirror, but the longer she looks the more she realizes that this other her is… different. slightly stronger, her arms clearly more defined. even what she saw of her fighting is different—more practiced.
Now that she had a good look at
her doppelganger, she could clearly
see the differences between the two
of them. This one seemed softer, less
experienced with her Keyblade. It
felt like she’d had, not an easier life, but
one where she’d taken a more passive
role.
“Yeah, I’ve been Kairi all my life. And
you’re me, too? How is this even possible?
Then again..if there are thirteen Xehanorts, I
guess anything is possible.”

Kairi couldn’t help but smile and pet
the top of Sora’s head at his whining.
“Yeah, I know. And I’m glad I’ve got you,
but trust me I’m fine. I’m not going through
anything I can’t handle.”

✦ ⸻ there’s a flash of light, and then the world settles around kairi—but she’s not standing where she was before. in fact, she’s not in the same world she was in before. she brings her hand to her head, feeling a strange wave of dizziness. what happened⁇ xehanort had been there, saying something, and then… she’s here.
sounds from down around the corner catch her attention (sounds of combat, if she’s not mistaken), and she takes off in the direction. she practically skids to a halt when she sees the scene before her. that’s… her. she’s there, fighting heartless, and she’s also here, jumping into the fray to support this other self. she doesn’t know what’s going on, but talking to this other kairi can only help her figure it out.
A thick cloud of black smoke surrounded Kairi
as she carved a path of destruction through the
hordes of Heartless surrounding her. Donald and
Goofy had gone off on their own, Kairi assuring them
that she would be alright by herself, but now she was
vastly outnumbered and the outlook didn’t look good for
her.
She felt another presence brush against her back,
turning to see another version of her. She was stunned
for a moment, feeling as if she were looking in a mirror,
but this wasn’t the time to have an existential crisis.
“This is really weird, and I have so many questions,
but let’s take care of this first.”
