"Should trans women be allowed to compete in women's sports" I don't think there should be women's sports. I think it's a silly artificial construction that only upholds the gender binary while it's benefits are incidental and would be better addressed directly.
Care about giving people with different body types and muscle mass a shot? Split your league by weight categories like boxing, or some other direct physical measurement. Gender is at best a poor proxy for these and we only do it because we still treat women are a different species. "But that still wouldn't be fully fair to everyone?" Sport isn't fully fair, it's about rewarding people with the most biological advantage. That's the whole point of it.
You want to give more sporting opportunity to women and minorities specifically? Okay then do that. Create your own opportunities league, but if we're giving up the pretense that it's about essential biological advantage then you better let trans women in.
What's that, the extra league would be treated as a novelty afterthought and would lack the prestige of the real main event? You mean like how women's events were treated when they were introduced? True! In fact women's leagues are still largely treated as secondary now, and you know how we can fix it? Make the main leagues open to everyone with weight, height or muscle mass categories so that people with different body types can excel. Like I suggested before. Problem solved.
Women's sport is bad actually.

When we’re new to adulthood, it doesn’t immediately occur to all of us that you’re almost always allowed to leave a situation, because growing up we’re forced to stay in situations until someone dismisses us and/or takes us home, or if we do leave on our own accord there’s someone waiting at home to say “we don’t quit in this family!” Boring party? You can leave. You don’t like the lecture? You can walk out. New doctor not working out? You can end the appointment, you don’t need to wait for them to dismiss you. Bad date? You can just go home. Leaving a situation prematurely might have consequences, but unless you’re under arrest or serving prison time, it’s pretty much always allowed.

same same. it made me feel so shitty & so many people are ecstatic about it?? like, this movie didnt come from some independent indie film critiquing the industry. it’s incredibly hypocritical for a big industry to point out their own flaws in a joking manner, without ever actually addressing them, only for the sake of a movie & to do nothing about it. an indie film draws attention to an issue because it has little power to fix the problem. a huge fucking company that knows the issues can fix them & instead is profiting off of it.
i dont understand why i seem to be the only person who had an issue with the barbie movie i feel insane. did it not scream white suburban liberal feminism to ANYONE else. like for a movie this extraordinarily influential with such a big platform it REALLY did not seem to understand how patriarchy works as a social system at ALL.

Barbie was just ok. The actors all did a good job but Greta gerwig is a really bad writer you guys... we need to come to terms with this.
