Life doesn’t stop, time doesn’t slow down for anyone. Trust me, I get it. It’s easy to ignore “the little things” because there’s just too much going on. That pile of clothes in the hamper that keeps building. Those dishes in the sink that keep piling up. Life is too busy to be worrying about anything else. With that being said, those clothes in your closet that you haven’t worn in 5 years because they don’t fit, but you keep them “as motivation” to lose weight— those are the last thing on your mind. Ask yourself this… are you *really* going to wear those again, even if you lost the weight? Those boxes of toys your kids have outgrown, you keep saying you’re going to get rid of them— you just don’t have the time to do so. Too many more important things are going on. Take a little bit of time to do it gradually. You'll be surprised at how 15-30 minutes every few days adds up. Before you know it, you'll have your closet cleaned out, your spare room where you don't have to "forget" it's there. You don't have to have it done all at once. You've got this! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎🤍 -Rayne

Gem's album/film of the week is a definite MUST SEE! It's Scott Spiegel's cult film classic "Intruder" (1989). The overnight stock crew of a local supermarket find themselves being stalked and slashed by a mysterious maniac. "A hidden gem and must-see for any 80s slasher horror fans. The camera work is fresh and quirky. The slasher tropes are fulfilled in such a fun and fresh way that it pumps energy into the genre. It has a local community and nostalgic feeling to it which adds to its charm. I have a lot of respect for the director and DOP to play with the cinematography in such a creative and inventive style. Perfect balance of cheesiness and thrills. Loved it."

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Is opening your closet something you almost, if not definitely, dread? I have a tendency to avoid certain closets with the mindset of "if I can't see it, it isn't there". Why should we settle for that less-than-happy feeling when there is a simple fix? Why not take one day to go through that dreadful hole in the wall? You also never know what you're going to find that you've stuffed away (at least, that's my experience). I don't know about you all, but the feeling of having made room to add new, exciting things that bring me joy is pretty damn amazing. Instead of avoiding the closet, why not embrace it? If you need some help getting rid of the stuff you find, reach out to us! We'll get you the cash you want for the stuff that you don't! You can reach us on email, our website, or social media. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Rayne [email protected] www.declutternearn.com facebook.com/declutternearn instagram: @_declutternearn Twitter: @_declutternearn Tumblr: declutternearn.tumblr.com Pinterest: @declutternearn

This week's tip is one that I need to be practicing more of myself. Holding on to things that have absolutely zero use. My favorite example… The infamous plastic food container cabinet. Is it REALLY necessary to have 56 bowls and 20 matching lids (or vice versa)?! Also, who else holds on to Chinese, or any other food, containers? Do we really need 45 of those plastic bowls?
One way of keeping this under a little more control is obvious-- throw them away (or clean them out and recycle)! Another useful way is every 3-6 months, going through the cabinet and throwing away the extra, or broken, pieces. I normally do this once every 6 months (I need to do it more). It takes 30 minutes or less and I DEFINITELY feel better once I'm finished with it.
Long story short-- is it really serving a purpose by holding on to it? If the answer is no, maybe it's time to let it go!
If you have some items (obviously not old food containers 😂) that you want to get rid of, you just don't have the time, reach out to us! We get you the cash you want for the stuff that you don't!

Saturday Sharing
"Comfort in Our Belongings"
Tumblr media
It isn’t always easy parting with some of your things. I would like to share with you some of the thought processes that help me in dealing with that.
1. Have I used this in the past year? 2. Is this serving any purpose or is it just in the way? 3. Could I easily obtain this again if I were to need it? 4. Will this alter my life if I get rid of it?
For some of us, we find comfort in our belongings. It’s almost as if it’s a security blanket. You feel safe being surrounded by your things. The question is, is this something that you truly need, or want, or is it just something you have “just because”?
Something that I have a problem with is holding on to stuff because of an emotional attachment. For example, I have this book that I have never read, nor do I have any intentions of ever reading. The book is one that my late mom had. I found the book in a thrift store for $2.00 and immediately bought it. Why? I have no idea, other than the fact that it reminded me of her.
I have this ugly painted mason jar that I bought for $0.99 that I had used as a flower vase in my first apartment. Should I keep that? I know I shouldn’t. Why have I kept it so long? Because it reminded me of my first apartment.
When it comes to choosing what to declutter, choose the vase that you have merely “because”, don’t get rid of the book. It means something to you. I hope this gives you some insight to decluttering things that bring you comfort. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. You don’t have to wake up tomorrow and suddenly purge your entire house. Rome wasn’t built in a day. If we can help you by getting you the cash you want for the stuff you no longer need, reach out to us for more information!
