I'm sorry if this is invasive, but are you disabled? I recently got my diagnosis and I'm struggling to come to terms with it, and I hoped you might have some insight on how one could do so. Thank you so much!

im not legally disabled and i don’t have a good grasp on whether or not i am bc i have issues but in the past coming to terms with the fact that I can’t do certain things the way the rest of the world has helped a lot! and i don’t mean ‘oh, i can’t do this, bummer’ so much as 'i exist in this way, and i do things differently and function differently, and that’s ok’ bc Society has a habit of putting people who are different into the 'nonhuman’ box.

for a long time I struggled with the fact that I can’t clean or function socially or in work place environments like other people, and it genuinely helped me a lot to give myself permission to achieve things and work in the way that I do. I don’t have to wear things that are focused on being cute rather than what my sensory issues tell me is comfortable. If I want to wear basketball shorts everyday, that’s cool. If I need to stim, that’s cool. If I need to wear sunglasses indoors because it makes me feel safer, that’s okay too.

In addition, I would recommend setting personal goals for yourself that don’t necessarily go up to par with the rest of the world’s, bc if you feel as if you’re constantly falling behind it takes its toll. Me setting my own goals and metrics for which I do stuff bc it gives me a sense of accomplishment is more important, and I’m more aware of my limitations that other people are!

sup gays id ideally be posting my day 3 of the julykings drawing a day challenge but school started up again and i kind of underestimated how exhausted id be and how much time id need to spend so its only half done :( ill try to get it out tomorrow but i might have to miss day 4
