I have survived living at home during the bulk of the 2016 election and the subsequent events, which of course contained almost daily political debates with my mother, which has led me to discover that she isn't a horrible person. What she is is a literal Vulcan from Star Trek. Cuz she and I actually agree politically the vast majority of the time. She just hates how liberals feel things and gets angry about it. She literally cycles between being confused by displays of human emotions, being offended by the irrationality of human emotions, and forgetting human emotions exist entirely. Is there anything I can do to cope with this realization?

Hey, so did you know that librarians tend to run liberal?

And that they’re really against censorship?

And that nearly all libraries have policies that prohibit people from harassing others inside?

And that nearly all libraries have free wifi and desktop computers that erase history when you’re done using them?

And that libraries often have huge offerings of dvds which you can watch on your laptop in the library?

And that libraries tend to have lots of resources for folks who find themselves in distress?

I don’t remember the last time I used tumblr to just complain about my life but I am really at maximum post-college loneliness right now. It’s when my college friends are too far away (if they still like me), I didn’t do a good enough job maintaining friendships from before or outside college and am too scared to try to rekindle them, and have no social life to facilitate making new friends. And I have a good “career” job that makes me feel guilty about feeling anything besides privileged and like my life is going great when it could definitely be better. 

And I know literally everyone feels like this at some point, but I just want to leave my house and have a meaningful conversation with someone who’s not related to me.
