*:・゚✧Strangers like me
starter for: @dalseungyeon
Deokhye smiled gently as she bowed, greeting everyone she came across on her way to the courses,  finding reassurance in going back to the routine she had previous the red wedding and truthfully, the young woman enjoyed such lessons of embroidery, tea ceremony, and flower arranging, though the lessons in manners were a little more strict, Deokhye still was greateful for them especially since she had no trouble nor ill fated relationship between her and the one teaching them.
The day was beautiful and the warmness of the sun was making it’s way through the cold winter clouds and the youngest Choi was taking her time admiring it, making sure to keep it in her mind to make a painting out of it for her home. It was only a couple of seconds though, before making her way to the courses not wanting to be late.
After she arrived, she greeted the person in charge of their lessons with a bow and the proper etiquette she had been sure to teach them during the previous sesions, though Deokhye had mastered that art long before thanks to her mother. “Oh Lady Bae” She smiled as she approached her,  “Good day, my Lady” Deokhye greeted politely bowing to her. “Is my Lady excited for today’s lesson?” She asked while looking at the flowers and the vases beautifully painted for they use.

daljiyoung‌:
she still hadn’t made any real headway with her needle work. she put more effort into pretending to do it. all was well, the woman watching them hadn’t made any more comments and seemed to take her eyes off jiyoung. and when deokhye asked her both those questions, a large smile appeared on her face. it was a real smile not many people saw from lady jiyoung. most saw a small up turn of the lips or a scowl but this was a smile.
“i like learning about medicine.” her voice dropped to a whisper, she knew it wasn’t proper for her a lady of her status. “and running in the forest my lady, it feels like freedom.” her voice dropped even more then. more talk that shouldn’t be said too loudly. then a teasing smile was on her face, “i simply learned my lady. i wanted too..so i did.” if only she knew her father’s nickname for her.
Deokhye listened to her words giving her full attention, even stopping her needle work just to make sure she wouldn’t miss a thing, her words made her curious and since Lady Jiyoung was more than happy giving her answers to her questions she wasn’t going to let that go to waste. She smiled in return to her, her ladyship looked even more beautiful with those decorating her face.
Her brown orbs widened at her words, she knew medicine as well. Lady Jiyoung was certainly full of surprises from what Deokhye had heard in their small conversations. “My Lady is trully one in a million” She said, her tone full of honesty and admiration, she had never heard of females doing such things, it would get her in trouble if anyone knew but Deokhye wasn’t the one who would go and repeat what she had heard from her that day. Her hands returned to her needle work but her mind was still on her words. “I only know how to be a lady...” She spoke before a small chuckle left her mouth, they were so different.

daldeoksu‌:
⋆ ⋆ ⋆  ━━     dalxdeokhye‌    、   i promised i would never leave you  ⋆
he is home. it’s something he had never really thought he’d live to see happen. that comfort and familiarity would be brought to him years after he had signed his life away. he still feels the roughness of the wind against his cheeks, of time away and times changed being inked into his skin as he takes in the sight of his home. of the manor he had once spent all his life in. with no clue of the world outside of his own little, preposterous bubble.
and now, popped – he had seen what the world truly looked like. and it was ugly, a definitive color of black, grays and whites with no true meaning if one was so hungry for war and power. it was a world he didn’t want to be in. a world he knew he could no longer live in. it was a world where death had been tasted time and time again and would never truly stop until one’s last breath.
it was this breath that had wished he could take a leave for home. that had been more than happy to find his father’s call for him ; that his father was the one who wanted him near, once more. and at first chance he took it, vowing to never leave.
to never go back because, he realized – he, choi deoksu, was no man of war.
it is why, when tears are fresh in his mother’s eyes and his father’s hand is warm in his grasp ; deoksu feels that surge of familiarity and safety that had never consumed him in the years prior.
three years was a long time, and it was finally time to make up for all that.
starting with the person he missed the most ( well, second person ) –
a hand smooths along her hair; a kiss pressed to the crown before he pulls apart from the younger. she had grown taller, slimmer ; the planes of her face while last had held the last bits of adolescence were not slender and softer – that of a lady’s rather than a young girl’s.
“look how you’ve grown, ah – deokhye-yah, are you sure you’re my little sister?”
but always, deep down – deoksu knew, she would always be his little sister, no matter how much she grew in his absence.
he laughs, good-naturedly ; a hand raised to smooth the hairs at her crown, “that’s something i will promise you – i won’t leave, ever.”
Deokhye smiled through the tears that streamed down her pale cheeks as she felt his kiss on the top of her head, it had been so long since she had felt his love so she was going to cherish this small interactions with him, to keep them in her heart as one of the happiest days in her life since he was finally there with her. He pulled apart sooner than what Deokhye would have liked, if it was for her she wouldn’t have let go of him, not until she was sure that he wouldn’t disappear as soon as she stopped seeing him or overnight while she was sleeping, her brown orbs stared back at him, he was still him, she couldn’t see any sign of him having been injured before or anything and that was a relieve though the emotional part, Deokhye wasn’t so sure.
A playful giggle came out of the young girl, “Of course it is me!” she spoke with a playful tone aswell and a happy smile on her features, Deokhye didn’t think she had changed that much though it was true that she didn’t look like a kid anymore. “I’m still the same little Deokhye” She was more than pleased with his answer, her heart was finally at ease, “I missed you so much” She wisphered.
goodnight, my angel

⋆ ⋆ ⋆ ━━  @dalxdeokhye 、 my dearest one ⋆
coming back to joseon, meant return to normal. to a fashion that wasn’t required of them on the battlefield and of frivolous activities that were far too trivial to be thought of. coming back to joseon, brings a light in his life as he feels himself smothered in a warmth that comes when reunited with family. especially the ones he had promised to protect by leaving. “you flatter me so,” and while he isn’t quite taken with the words that leave his sister’s lips, he also isn’t surprised by them. at least, not when the idea that’s been forming in his mind ever since he had returned becomes clear. and the words she says aren’t too far-fetched, after all. “say, deokhye – about that … if i were to get married, how would you feel?” because like most people, deoksu finds himself at the mercy of the women in his life, wanting to know of her happiness and thoughts prior to his was always a weak point for the male.
“It is the truth, my dear brother” She smiled “You are as handsome as the prince! You certainly are the good looking one of our family” Deokhye spoke what she had heard from someone in the market one day, though she didn’t take it to the heart, in fact she could only agree that her older brother was handsome. “married...” Deokhye wisphered, true she had been speaking of it a few seconds ago but only as a joke, the girl didn’t think that it would become a possibility so soon now that he was back. A small smile grew on her face as she looked at her big brother “I would feel surprised...but as long as you are happy with it I will be happy as well.” That was the only thing she wished for him, happiness and a life blessed with the love he deserved. “But if you do not wish for it, I can cry in front of our lord father, begging him to marry me first instead” She spoke with a playful grin on her face but her voice told a different story, the girl was being honest, she was willing to do anything for his brother even if that meant throwing herself for a marriage with someone unknown in hopes of giving her brother more time to search for his own happiness.
may you be sweet, always

daljiyoung‌:
 *:・゚✧ Mother knows best.
“they would hope.” jiyoung muttered under breath after the woman over seeing them gave her a long stare. apparently ladies couldn’t even have idle chit-chat. what was wrong if they spoke to each other while they did this? who would they be harming with no men around. and it hadn’t escaped the woman’s notice that jiyoung sat down without anything in her hands. she walked over to him as if she meant serious business and dropped the required materials in jiyoung’s lap.
for a moment she stared at it, not wanting to do anything she was told. simply to be rebellious, even if it cost her mother her face. “it’s rather hard for me to find this relaxing…i find it frustrating.” jiyoung didn’t attempt to do it correctly, she only pretended to do something, barely looking down as she did. “you see my lady, when you’re in the forest or just any free place. you can run or walk or skip and you won’t have to care about who’s watching.” there was a wistfulness to her voice. “honestly…i find using a bow and arrow easier than this.” but it would be that for someone who didn’t apply themselves.
Deokhye smiled at the girl’s words as she started working once again on her needle-work, though still listenting carefully what the other had to say at the same time, looking up from time to tiime to prove her attention was still on her.  The youngest Choi looked from the materials to Jiyoung with a small smile on her lips, finding how different they were amusing and her ideas of fun made the girl curious. “Then do tell me, what do you find relaxing?” Deokhye asked while tilting her head to the side gently, looking at her companion.
She could get her point of view though she didn’t share it. “But isn’t my Lady  afraid of what she might encounter beyond those trees?” Wild animals could get her if she was on her own, Deokhye would be too scared to even think of going into such places without company. Her eyes widened at her final words before looking around making sure no one was listening to their conversations. “My lady knows how to use such things? How?”

“ don’t you believe there’s someone for everyone?”
A ROYAL WEDDING SENTENCE PROMPTS:  @hwandalStatus: closed!
Deokhye had a bright smile decorating her features as she watched the picture of the wedding unfold in front of her. The girl knew that her time to be dressed in red, like the princess was, and have a celebration in her and her husband-to be honor would happen sooner rather than later, for she was already in the right age and even if her parents hadn’t said anything outloud the young girl knew that they were on search of a husband for her.  The youngest Choi was pulled away from her own thoughts by the words of lord Hwan, who took all her attention, a small gentle smile grew on her face as she answered “Would my Lord think poorly of me, if my answer was positive?” Deokhye knew how foolish she was, how her faith would only make her end up hurt by believing in Love and happiness. The world, their world, didn’t work like that but Deokhye gladly turned blind eye and kept hope in her heart of such feeling, not only for her but for everyone.

*:・゚✧ Where you at?
TW: Blood, death
How could something as beautiful as a wedding end up in tragedy? The young girl had been smiling happily, wishing the married couple nothing more than happiness and love in the future, for the young girl thought that arranged mariages deserved it. She lifted her cup of tea to her lips, looking at her mother’s actions and imitating them to make sure she was following the proper etiquette. Closing her eyes to enjoy the sweet warm taste that came. That was when hell broke loose. Screams and cries reached Deokhye’s ears making her eyes open widely in surprise, looking at her mother for an explanation though her attention was somewhere else making Deokhye look towards there. Blood, that was the first thing the girl saw in the princess making her gasp while a hand covered her mouth, everything seemed to happen in slow motion as her mother pulled her closer to her to shield her from the view but it was useless, as two other  men started coughing blood just like the princess making her scared, there were more. Her eyes travelled to her family, they seemed alright but what made her heart drop was that her older brother wasn’t there next to her.
Deohkye started moving around the room, despite the screams of her father to go back to them or the sobs of her mother, how could she go back without knowing anything of Deoksu? There was chaos and people running in all directions, most of them trying to get out while the young woman ran towards the spot she had last seen her dear brother. ‘Please, please be alright’ were the only words that were on her mind, repeating over and over again like a mantra. She had just gotten him back, she wasn’t going to let him get away from her ever again because she was still a little girl who needed her big brother. Deokhye only stopped when he saw him, her eyes quickly scanned him to make sure he was alright, to see that he was unharmed and still with her, he was alright. That’s when her tears finally fell on her pale cheeks from the monstuosity she had seen that day.

*:・゚✧ Mother knows best.
she knew she didn’t want to attend the lesson’s, she knew they were just putting on a show to see who would be fit for the crown prince. and jiyoung was sure she wasn’t that girl. if there was a way to not be here, she would’ve. it would have been best if her mother didn’t care at all, that way jiyoung could be having fun, doing something she really wanted to do. either way, she was here. in a group of lady’s that all ( she assumed all ) wanted to be selected as the crown princess, it felt like it would be hard to find someone of a like a mind here.
“oh!” at least this spared her from having to find a seat. “lady deokhye, it’s nice to see you.” she just wanted to see the lady at another place. anywhere but here. she took a moment to bow her head before she took her seat next to the other woman. “thank you. i know my mother asked your mother to keep an eye out for me.” she had overheard the two talking. “i’ll try my best…but if i have to be honest…i would rather run through the forest.” the second half had been said in a whisper, so other’s wouldn’t hear. “are you enjoying yourself so far?”
Deokhye smiled happily at the others words, maybe they were courtesy but Deokhye wanted to think that the other female was actually happy to see her instead of just saying it for the sake of politeness because she was happy to see her. Though her smile fell into awkwardness at such words, she wished to help but she wished for a friend aswell, but Deokhye guessed it was better if she knew that she was asked for such favors. “It seems like they both think I would bring you a more positive outlook of this course" Deokhye spoke while returning to her needle work though the smile never left her face it only became sincere with her next words. “But i do it because i would like to get closer to my Lady.” She spoke while looking at her.
“I am greatful to hear that.” Deokhye spoke, she didn’t think she would have the heart to make her do something she didn’t enjoy nor wanted to. Her words caught the girl off guard, run through the forest? That seemed more dangerous than fun but Deokhye guessed their definitions of fun were opposite, still she smiled “I believe it’s a lovely weather for such activity. “She smiled as the woman in charge of the group started at them, probably for the amount of talking and the lack of needlework. “I am,  I always found needlework calming and it is lovely to meet Ladies of different houses.” It was a great opportunity to make friends, her mother had said. Deokhye smiled “I hope you enjoy it too, my Lady, and if there is anything i can help with I will be more than pleased to do so”

Deokhye had been working on her needlework, too absorbed in her own little world when one of the family servants came with tea by her mother’s orders, the young Lady greeted her with a smile and thanked her happily leaving her needlework by her bed to get a cup of tea when the words of the girl made her frozen from head to toe. “Isn’t little Lady going to greet little lord? I saw him with Lord and Lady on my way.” Deokhye knew she said something more after that but her brain didn’t hold that part of the information since it was stuck repeating the same words over and over again: He is home. Placing the cup down on the little table, the young Lady got up as fast as she could with the help of the girl before rushing out of the room after thanking her.
That was the least Lady-like thing Deokhye had done in her whole life. Running to the main gate where she was told her brother had been seen for the last time, her heart was racing, beating against her ribs that it should have been painful but it wasn’t. Deokhye only slowed down once she was near, not being used to run, she had run out of breath but that little stop was enough to give her strenght once again since her brown orbs landed on him...he was finally home. Deokhye rushed to his side, she needed to see him closer, to hug him and never let him go, to see by herself that it wasn’t only a dream, she had plenty of those ever since he left.
She could feel the hot tears behind her eyes and as they slowly  made their way though her cheeks. “Brother” She let out as she jumped into his arms, holding him as close as she could while hiding herself on the comfort of his chest. “you are back, you are here” She spoke though it seemed more like a message to herself, to believe what was infront of her. Deokhye could hear her mother complaining about her being like a child but no one made an effort to pull her away from him and she was grateful for that. “Never leave me again, please.” Deokhye sniffed, Deoksu had missed her growing up, she didn’t want him to miss anything in her life again.
goodnight, my angel
as much as the war can change a person, deoksu makes a promise to not let the ways of battle and heart-wrenching bloodshed do that to him. even if, deep down, he knows it has. he’ll still go by his home, arms wrapped around his family with a healthy smile because in truth, he’s missed them. missed them a whole lot to a point that after years, he had a ghost of a thought that he’d never see them – see her – ever again.
yet, the years had passed and he returns home from duty: all intact. arms, legs and smile in place. everything choi deoksu had been before the war, all back together again. and the chance to come back is an opportunity not to be wasted and in his haste, he comes home past sunset as reds and titian swirls color the sky. everything in the same place he had left it, but also, very different.
unlike many others, deoksu returns home unscathed. he knows this isn’t the man his father wishes to see. somehow certain that the choi elder would have much preferred a plaque in his stead but he comes home, welcomed by arms that are much too warm to be the father he had known all those years ago – the pain at his cheek a friendly reminder whenever he needed it – but he says nothing, does nothing except take what has been given with his own, more familiar approach: what deoksu had always done, time and time again. taking it with a smile and a hearty laugh that he knows his father wishes was deeper, less carefree.
he takes it because he’s finally home, and the welcome was more than well-appreciated.

A ROYAL WEDDING SENTENCE PROMPTS:  @haeyijinStatus: accepting!
Deokhye’s hand placed over her chest, trying to calm down the fast pace of her heart before composing herself though the blush had yet to leave her pale skin, she turned around to see who had spoken such words, Crown Prince Jin, a soft smile decorated her fair features as she bowed to greet the man “Must all our meetings have to begin like this, your majesty?” She could clearly remember last time when she had been surprised too by him since she had been lost in her own dreamland when he approached her. “Thank you, your Magesty” Deokhye spoke while looking down at her hanbok, feeling more awkward than beautiful yet she was thankful for such kind words. “Though I believe that, his highness, has been surrounded by the beautiful princesses for so long that his sight has been altered.” She spoke offering him a gentle smile with her soft playful tone. “Though everyone would agree that your Magesty looks as dashing as always.”

Deokhye had been following her parents ever since they arrived, greeting familiar faces she had seen during the last time she had attended the palace for the celebration of Queen mother’s birthday, though this time it was for the marriage of a princess, a time all women were supposed to look forward to and dream of.  Truth was, Deokhye knew that was in her future and  “Oh Lady Ruihan!” She greeted with a happy smile decorating her features while bowing to greet her formally. Her eyes moved to the front to see that the figures of her parents went gone from her sight, after blinking a couple of times her brown orbs moved all around the room where the celebration was being held with no luck, they must have been in the sea of people. Deokhye turned her attention to Ruihan and smiled brightly “That would be lovely!” She spoke happily, believing that the other lady had a lot of things in common with herself and spending even more time together would be lovely. “After you, my Lady”

Deokhye blinked a couple of times, her smile falling slightly before looking at the direction Lady Mishil had been looking at. Laughter and loud voices were the only thing that could be heard from that place making the young Lady smile once again. “ A wedding should be filled with laughter, my lady. Especially if it comes from either the bride or the groom” She spoke while nodding towards the source of loud sound. “Is my Lady not comfortable with such loud conversations?” Deokhye asked “For if that is the reason, I heard the palace has lovely gardens for us to see during this lovely ceremony” Deokhye offered a solution for them if that was the case.

*:・゚✧ The princess and the pauper
a starter for: @haexahreum
Her heart was pounding hard against her small ribcage, she had only been going to the Lady courses for a couple of weeks and now she was being called by a royal to meet her and that has the young girl shaking. Has she done something wrong? Was she going to be informed that she was no longer welcome? though why would a royal speak to her? they would have sent a maid for such things, for something as unimportant as her. Still Deokhye walked to the chambers of Lady Jeon who had been the one to summon her.
She was surprised to see not only Lady Jeon but her highness Ahreum as well, shocked the girl bowed to them, trying to control her trembling hands the best as a small smile grew on her delicated features. “ Your highness” She greeted. “You called for me?”

*:・゚✧ Mother knows best.
starter for: @daljiyoung
The courses of etiquette were a common topic of conversation between the noble ladies but it was the main topic between the mothers of them, or that was what Deokhye believed after hearing her mother and Lady Song whom had called her into the room after seen a piece of her embroidery, Deokhye was happy to know that she had liked the doe she had been working on for weeks but after the nice words came a favor which Deokhye could not reject for it involved helping someone.
And so that is how Deokhye found herself staring at the door while improving her needlework, a happy smile decorating her gracefull features as she looked away from time to time hoping for the young lady to arrive. Hearing the door open again, Deokhye looked up and there she was, Lady Song Jiyoung had arrived and in her excitement, the young girl stuck her finger with her needle. “Ouch” She muttered to herself before ignoring the feeling, getting up leaving her work on her chair and walking towards her. “Good evening Lady Song” She greeted with a small bow, “I took the liberty of reserving a place for my Lady next to me” Deokhye smiled, she was told to look for her but that didn’t mean they couldn’t become friends in the process. “If that is alright”
