Revenge, hatred, retaliation, retribution, enviness, bullying, celebrating physical power, road rage, anger - those in professions who have the power to change lives; often they are the ones who are angry at others because of their own dire situations or those in power who want to inflict their own will or choices upon others regardless of the outcome. Hollywood awards such violence and encourages the same kind of behavior in everyday life. If a child doesn't talk to his father, how does he know what his father wants? We are the children of our Father in Heaven. He has a right to instruct us and teach us because He's our Father. He has every right to want to guide us and see us grow up in the right way. He's unhappy when we don't do what He thinks is best for us because He knows more than we do. How He must be disappointed when we don't act the right way. Wouldn't our earthly father be the same way? The Good Son, Jesus, who died for us makes it possible that we can talk to our Father in Heaven. Matthew 7:7 - "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" Luke 9:13 - "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Who has clean hands? Jesus took on the sins of the world as the ultimate sacrifice to God, the Father. The road to salvation is through Jesus! We need to use our brain when we are in need. Turn to the one who created us to give us the right answer. He is God and we celebrate His birth this Holy season. Look to God when your need arises. Jesus was born to suffer and die for our sins. He took the place of unblemished animals on the alter in the Holy of Holies behind the curtain. He became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Believe in Jesus and your sins will be forgiven, your needs will be met, He will always be with you through the Holy Spirit. How many times has He already told us to pray and ask for what we need and our prayers will be answered. I have seen so many miracles that the world would say is just a coincidence but it’s not. I have seen so many things that have no explanation but I know that it is God’s protection on us. My favorite scripture is in John 14:13-14 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” That scripture makes it very plain as to what to do when you are in need. It doesn’t take a genius to understand what Jesus is telling us. He reiterates that in Eph. 6:18, Proverbs 28:9, John 15:7, Mark 11:22-24, Philippians4:6, John 9:31, Matthew 7:7-8, 1Peter 3:12, Colossians4:2, Psalm 40:1, John 16:23-24, James 1:6, Matthew 21:21-22, 2 Chronicles 7:14, John 15:16, Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 5:23-24, James 5:15-16, Psalm 116:1, James 4:2, Matthew 7:11, James 4:3, 1 Peter 3:7, 1 John 5:14,1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Psalm 66:18-19, and Isaiah 1:15-20. "The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23; "By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God." Ephesians 2:8; "Let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost." Now that I’m older, I sometimes reflect on my past experiences and events. It seems to me that if you don’t have something then you really have a desire for it and miss it but if you have that gift whatever that something is, that then a person tends to abuse it. This can be applied to many things in our lives. The gift of salvation is free but when we have that, sometimes we abuse that gift. When we don’t have that gift of salvation and the presence of the Holy Spirit, we feel sometimes that something is missing in our lives. I will always remember the statement that a comedian had made towards the end of his life. He said that the best days of his life were when he was preaching the gospel as a Pentecostal preacher. He left that life as a charismatic minister to become a comedian in Las Vegas. How many of us abuse the gift we are given? First we take baby steps, then we start walking, then we start running, then we start jumping with joy. First we’re not sure because we have the symptoms, then the symptoms change and we are not so much in pain, then we can see the end of the tunnel, then we know of God‘s grace and healing. We always use examples of past miracles in the Bible to show the power of God but God is more relevant than that. There are examples of God’s power in performing miracles in our everyday life each day of our lives. Sarah, Abraham’s wife, was told by the Angel of God that she would soon bear a son and she laughed. How often do we laugh or disbelieve when we are told that God will heal that person. Sarah suffered because she didn’t believe but the miracle of Isaac’s birth came anyway. It was the faithfulness of Abraham that covered Sarah’s unbelief. When someone else prays for you, their faithfulness is covering your unbelief. However, that person who has unbelief is just making it harder on themselves to receive that blessing. Gen. 18:13-14 - “Then the LORD said to Abraham”, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD? I was watching a movie last night about a very wealthy family that had quite a few mistakes made by their family members. Their main concern and focus was to protect their family by any means. Jesus knew our motives in life and that’s why He offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice. Even those that think they’re good and righteous are so far from the righteousness of Jesus that we all should bend our knees and bow our heads before Him. I know , in my own case that my life is only possible because of Jesus. My righteousness is as filthy rags before Him.
