"It’s 8:03 am. I stand up and balance myself on the stove. I repeatedly blink and groggily become aware of my surroundings. Andrew is asleep in front of the door. There is candle wax and ash all over the floor. I lurch my body towards my room, and remind myself that I’m still going. I see a pair of jeans on my floor and I reach down to grab them. They belong to the girl who is in my bed. I left her there. I left her there to sleep because she didn’t tell me she had her period. At around 5 am she seduced me and talked me into sleeping with her, only to paint my sheets, thighs, and stomach a monthly crimson. A pack of gum was in a pocket, so I took a piece. I earned it. Fuck, I deserved it. Walking back to the kitchen, looking at the mess I made, that piece of cinnamon gum tasted so fucking perfect. It was a beautiful year."
