❝ deal. ❞ he’s not sure if he’s supposed to SHAKE her hand or something. or if that was considered too formal. would she even like it ? so for now he keeps his hands where they are. ❝ so when is the first meeting and where do we meet ? ❞ maybe this is an online club. are there even more members other than him and tandy ? this whole thing is confusing to him. but maybe he’ll introduce his brothers to it. they could do with it. he thinks. maybe. they’re more WELL-ADJUSTED and aren’t so … angry at everything like his is. ❝ i … i think i’d prefer being born on earth and living a life here than what i got. ❞ he doesn’t mean to be so truthful but he has said it now. other things in his and his family’s life would have to be DIFFERENT for him to have truly lived another life but being born ‘ normally ‘ and surrounded by family would have been a much better start. that he knows. 

space is … space is almost a second home for him. no. it was his first home. the only thing he knew about before his real origins were revealed to him. he likes flying into it and just … doing nothing but stare at the vast nothingness. gabriel is never calm. he’s never peaceful. but somehow when he’s away and flying … his inner fire is quiet. that’s a comfort to him that he’s not sure how to explain or if anyone else will ever get. ‘ is it quiet ? ‘ she asks. it takes him a minute to think about what he should say because no-one’s ever asked him about his trips to space before. ❝ … …. yeah it is. ❞ voice trails off as he stares at the sky. makes him want to just fly off right now and just exist away from earth. ❝ well sound doesn’t travel in space so you can’t hear anything. ❞ that’s some science to bring him back down to earth but his mind still remains FIRMLY in the stars. 

          “     whenever    we    want    ,    wherever    we    want.     ”        part    of    her    was    testing    the    waters    ,    putting    a    feeler    out    in    case    gabe    was    serious.    maybe    her    sarcasm    and    humor    was    flying    right    over    his    head.    after    all    ,    he    wouldn’t    be    the    first    one    who    took    her    too    seriously.    his    confession    brought    her    back    momentarily    ,    gaze    shifting    to    find    him    for    some    kind    of    further    reaction    that    doesn’t    come.    she    wouldn’t    argue.    maybe    nobody    truly    enjoyed    where    they    came    from    and    yearned    for    something    more.

          tandy    would    kill    for    some    quiet.    her    nights    were    spent    running    into    darkness    and    further    from    the    red    and    blue    lights    that    wanted    to    tie    her    down    so    badly.    every    time    she    turned    the    corner    ,    she    had    to    make    sure    an    enemy    wasn’t    close    by.    even    in    the    middle    of    the    night    ,    even    in    an    abandoned    church    or    building    ,    even    when    she    was    in    the    darkness    …    her    head    wouldn’t    shut    up.    the    closest    she    got    to    space    was    surrounding    herself    in    the    night    ,    arms    wrapped    around    her    knees    as    she    made    makeshift    beds    out    of    split    floorboards.        “     still    sounds    like    a    dream.     ”        she    wasn’t    as    lucky    as    most    other    heroes    that    got    to    come    and    go    from    earth    as    they    pleased.        “     ––    i    think    it’s    your    turn    to    share    a    secret.     ”

          if    she    were    to    begin    talking    ,    tandy    was    afraid    she’d    never    stop.    her    pain    would    pour    ,    verbiage    would    spit    in    the    form    of    venom    and    hurt    that    would    cause    mass    destruction.    she    usually    relied    on    her    emotions    to    dictate    her    powers    ,    but    this    was    different.    flashes    of    kon    ,    her    mother    ,    and    roxxon’s    shiny    new    building    breached    through    her    mind    like    a    damaged    floodgate    and    the    blonde    almost    flinched    at    the    kindness    of    his    words.    still    ,    she    smiled.    it    was    small    and    it    was    forced    ,    but    it    was    there.    such    an    action    felt    so    foreign    to    her    as    of    lately    that    even    tandy    was    unsure    of    how    genuine    it’d    been.        “     ––––    thank    you.     ”        at    least    it     was    a    response.    anything    to    ignore    the    sinking    feeling    in    her    stomach.    she    was    grateful    for    gabe.

·.·★         𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐝  𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭  𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲  𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲   ;  congrats  on  hitting    23   ,  only  infinity  more  to  go.    it’s  not  cassie’s  first  birthday  since  the  whole  finding  out  you’re  kind  of,  probably  immortal    (  with  no  way  to  find  out  till  too  late  )     usually  she’d  be  having  a  great  time  with  friends  ,    but  the  idea  of  that  only  seemed  to  set  usually  nerves  of  steel  on  fire.  the  memories  of  last  weeks  birthday  still  burned  in  her  mind , absentmindedly  ruining  her  own.

where  everyone  else  had  let  it  go,  co-workers  had  corralled  the  demi-god  to  a  bar  after  work  a  few  days  after  the  big day.  affixed  with  a  gaudy  over-sized   ‘  23  ‘  badge  and  a  pink  cowboy  hat  with   birthday  girl  written  in  cursive  across  the  brim.     within  a  few  minutes  she’d  already  managed  to  pry  herself  from  the  group  /   taking  refuge  in  the  halls  ,   lips  turned  to  smile  like  grimace  – - 　　　guilt  eating  at  shining  confidence  ,   but  there’s  enough  bravado  to  fake  their  friendship   (  because  if  she  acts  like  anythings  changed  ,  maybe  it’d  give  it  all  away.   )   “   tandy  ,   gods  i’ve  never  been  happier  to  see you  “  a  total  lie  ,   the  wonder  girl  could  practically  feel  diana’s  judgement  from  way  up  high  ,   “  you’ve  got  to  save  me  from  my  co-workers  ,   please  –  as  a  late  birthday  present  ? “   /  @daggirl​

          tandy    hadn’t    sought    out    cassie    after    kon’s    party.    she    hadn’t    even    sought    out    kon    ,    figuring    it    was    best    to    act    like    she’d    just    caught    the    flu    or    something    that    night.    there    was    no    other    explanation    she    could    have    mustered    that    would    have    explained    her    sudden    disappearance    from    the    scene    unless    she    wanted    the    truth    to    be    set    free.    was    it    her    place    ?    she’d    already    had    to    bite    her    tongue    around    cissie.

          let’s    not    beat    around    the    bush    ––    tandy    was    high.    she    wasn’t    on    anything    ,    but    she    was    stealing    hope.    several    of    the    people    at    the    bar    had    been    drained    of    their    carefree    drunkenness    for    tandy’s    own    selfish    reasons    ,    for    the    sake    of    her    artificial    happiness.    and    ,    yeah    ,    she    was    happy    !    well    ,    that    only    lasted    until    she    caught    a    glimpse    of    blonde    and    pink    across    the    bar.    the    rage    that    boiled    deep    inside    her    began    clawing    at    her    ,    begging    to    be    let    out    right    there    and    then.    it    sobered    her    instantly.    oh    ,    but    tandy    had    some    self  -  control    …    she    retreated    in    that    moment    ,    forcing    herself    to    the    hallway    where    it    was    supposed    to    be    safe.    a    place    where    she    could    calm    down.

          but    she    couldn’t    run.    not    when    cassie’s    voice    had    already    pierced    through    the    air    behind    her    and    tandy’s    features    hardened    in    that    short    moment    that    her    back    was    turned.    she    softened    them    in    time    ,    putting    on    a    smile    before    turning    around    and    acting    as    if    everything    were    completely    normal    (    as    if    her    heart    wasn’t    breaking    all    over    again.    )        “     hey    !    oh    my    god    ,    happy    birthday    !     ”        as    if    tandy    owed    her    anything.        “     um    ,    duh    !    come    on.    i    know    a    bar    they’ll    never    find    you    at.     ”        one    hand    was    offered    ,    palm    up    and    shockingly    lacking    a    usual    white    glow.    it’s    a    feigned    peace    offering    ,    a    chance    at    escape    for    the    other    blonde    that    wouldn’t    last    very    long.    tandy    would    make    sure    of    it.

          tandy    ,    much    to    her    disappointment    ,    was    like    her    father    in    the    sense    that    she    was    quite    impatient.    as    if    two    weeks    had    gone    by    without    her    mentioning    the    party    once    !    usually    ,    she    was    confrontational    …    but    this    was    different.    kon    was    different.    she    tried    to    wait    him    out    ,    tried    to    give    him    the    space    he    needed.    tandy    could    only    last    so    long    before    the    constant    heavy    air    between    them    and    sideways    glances    exchanged    as    they    both    moved    through    the    apartment    silently    had    become    too    irritating.        “     was    a    couple    weeks    enough    for    your    hangover    to    finally    go    away    ?     ”        a    poor    ,    poor    ,    poor    attempt    at    a    joke.    maybe    part    of    her    was    trying    to    prevent    him    from    entering    a    room    that    no    longer    held    her    personal    belongings.    it    was    much    easier    to    move    her    things    out    when    kon    wasn’t    exactly    paying    attention    all    the    time.

Tyrone chuckled and only slightly tried to hide his eye roll from Tandy - of course he should’ve known he’d be having to dress up tonight. With luck, he’d make it through the night with a suit more comfortable than the church clothes his mom usually shoved him into, “Wow, I invite you to the ballet and you take me shopping? Seems like a fair trade,” His slightly dull voice still held a soft fondness in it for the blonde, a little relieved to be getting a night away from all their vigilante business. He didn’t know many places around the city, but surely they’d find a boutique if they just kept walking, “You’ve got nice stuff over here? Did you just get to bring a whole dresser with you?”

    it  was  a  weird  situation.  miles  and  tandy  had  always  been  friends,  first  and  foremost  -  it  would  always  be  that  way.  it  didn’t  stop  him  from  thinking  she  was  the  coolest  girl  around  -  the  one  person  in  the  world  who  truly  deserved  the  world.  she  didn’t  deserve  the  life  she  had  ..  has.  miles  would  always  be  there  to  lend  a  hand  (  or  roof  ).  “hm..  no.”  grin  widens,  hands  brushing  against  his  sweatpants.  “plus  you  can’t  climb  down  from  here,  don’t  be  silly.”  he  does  understand  not  liking  swinging  around  -  he  was  sure  that  if  he  wasn’t  powered  like  he  was,  he’d  absolutely  hate  it.  “we’ll  not  even  swing.  i’ll  just  drop  us  down  below  and  we  can  walk,  yeah?”  a  pause.  “—  i  don’t  know  what  snacks  you  like  soooooo  you  have  to  come  with  me.”

          “     i’m    very    agile    and    flexible    ,    of    course    i    can.     ”        hues    shift    from    his    to    peer    over    the    edge.    they    scanned    the    very    few    fire    escapes    that    would    leave    her    with    a    pit    of    anxiety    bubbling    in    her    stomach    ,    but    at    least    she    wouldn’t    be    swinging    through    the    air    !    offense    surfaces    now    ,    head    snapping    back    towards    miles    with    a    scoff    falling    shortly    after.        “     you    don’t    know    what    snacks    i    like    ?    you    know    everything    about    me.     ”        tandy    can’t    tell    if    she’s    disappointed    or    if    it’s    genuine    surprise    now    ,    but    this    was    a    diversion.        “     okay    ,    and    what    if    we    run    into    the    cops    again    ?    then    i’m    in    trouble    and    you’re    definitely    in    trouble.     ”
