you rubbed your eyes again, a tired hand reaching out to grab the coffee doyoung made an hour ago. it was cold now, but you didn’t want to waste it and honestly, you could use the energy.

college was becoming especially hard. every teacher gave lengthy assignments with impossible due dates, and finals were just two months away. it was fair to say everyone was feeling the stress.

you were one of the people who were working especially hard. you didn’t do so well throughout the year, so you knew this was your last chance to really push up your grades.

but studying consistently for long hours was something you weren’t used to. especially when it meant you couldn’t see your boyfriend.

every time he would come around to your dorm you’d shoo him out, certain that he’d be a distraction by just simply being there. it wasn’t his fault he was so damn cute. you just couldn’t control yourself around him.

you were about to go over to the next chapter when you heard a knock at your door. “who could it be at this hour?” you muttered to yourself, fixing your sweatshirt.

the door opened to reveal your boyfriend for the second time that night. “doyoung? what are you doing here?” you asked, slightly annoyed.

“thought your coffee might’ve gotten cold so i got you some more,” he smiles, moving past your exhausted frame into your kitchen.

you followed suit, still trying to process what was going on. “doyoung- what? you knew i was studying so why did you come back?” your irritance was evident in your tone.

“didn’t you hear me before? i said i have coffee,” he rolled his eyes, a small smile on his face. you let out a huff as he put the coffee on the table.

“that’s not the point doyoung, you know that- ugh just,” you grunted, running your hand through your hair.

“what? are you not happy to see me? i’m just trying to help you y/n, i know how hard you’ve been working,” doyoung said, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

“doyoung you know how easily i get distracted. and this is the second time you’ve come here tonight!” you exasperated.

“y/n i don’t know if you’ve noticed but we all have exams, me included. i also need to study but i decided to be a good boyfriend and come and see you!” doyoung retorted.

“that’s not called being a good boyfriend, that’s called being clingy, doyoung,” you rolled your eyes.

“clingy?” doyoung scoffed. his arms crossed over his chest in an attempt to shadow the prevalent risign and falling of his chest. “at least i’m trying. it’s not like you’re putting in any effort, quite obviously,” doyoung said, scrutinizing your tired, messy appearance.

you raised one eyebrow in shock. was this how he really felt? “oh i’m so sorry if i care about my education. not everyone can get straight As like you doyoung. we have to work hard for what we want.”

“you’re saying i don’t work hard? what the fuck? i literally come here to see you and spend time with you and when i leave i stay up studying till fucking 3 am on most nights!” doyoung shouted, his arms falling from his chest.

“but did i tell you to come here? no i didn’t. instead of asking me what i want, you decided to be an fucking idiot and bother me further, even though you know i’m busy.”

the distance between the two of you increased, with you standing near the countertop and doyoung at the kitchen door. the tension within the atmosphere made your heart palpitate, your body heat slowly increasing.

“you’re such a bitch,” doyoung squinted at you, his voice cold.

“it’s not my fault you’re not using your head doyoung,” you spat at him.

“you know what? i don’t have to deal with this,” doyoung said, turning his back on you and making his way to the door.

you contemplated on following him out, but you were too worked up to be thinking straight. before you knew it, the sound of the door slamming shut reverberated throughout your small dorm.

the loud sound snapped you out of your thoughts and you hurried to the door, as thought it was a signal. you slowly open the door, only to see an empty, dimmed hallway, without a trace of doyoung to be seen; maybe never again.
