1000000000% ezra, i would be out here committing acts of buffoonery punishable by death. god help me. i'm not usually into people who exude that very particular type of talkative, hypnotic charm but there's also something oddly principled and even a little soft about him once you scratch the surface a bit.

for me the thing that solidified my feelings was this: his conversation with cee while they're tramping through the woods — when she's telling him about her favorite book. she's obviously excited to talk about it with someone, and he doesn't shut her up or change the subject or otherwise demonstrate that he doesn't give a shit. no eye rolling or frowning or preoccupation; he just listens, smiling to himself and giving her the space to talk.

i found that very endearing. he has no real reason to care about her, we all know this. he doesn't need to listen to her at all, about anything. but he does. and coming as we do from a world where men often mock women and girls (especially girls) for their enthusiasms, it's nice to see this grown man quietly and attentively listen to a teenage girl raving about something she loves.

I’m curious, what’s everybody’s biggest problem characters of Pedro’s? I don’t mean the ones that bug you or that were written dodgy or anything like that, I mean the ones that if you met them you’d just stand there and go “Oh fuck you’re gonna be a problem for me.”

Frankie is for sure the one that I’d be a distantly pining mess over. Just full moon eyes, you-are-the-handsomest-man-in-the-cereal-aisle-and-you-are-way-out-of-my-league kinda yearning. I would stare longingly at him in the check out line and make awkward jokes and laugh too loud near him. It would be a disaster.

Whiskey would absolutely get under my skin like a goddamn tick. All the charm and flirting and shameless yeehonkery would drive me up the wall, but then the genuine respect and regard would come out and I’d be in so much trouble.

But my god, Ezra is the one that’d fuck me up the most. He’s somehow a perfect lining drive up the middle between Frankie’s subdued competence, practicality, and loyalty, and Whiskey’s shameless charm and hedonism. I would be the most transparently doting bitch alive. I would make a complete fucking fool of myself over Ezra. This man would bring out the swooning Victorian in me. I would be overcome and have to be sent off to the seaside for my health.

A/N: This is the first of 7 short fics I have coming down the line for my follower appreciation celebration, and if you know anything about me at all you should not be surprised that I chose to kick it off with Ezra. Thank you to everyone who sent in requests for this event. I hope you all enjoy what I come up with for them! This is NOT related to PoNR in any way, and as of now is completely stand alone.

Summary: Making your way through the crowded drop depot on Lao to meet Ezra, you reminisce on your time with the man and think about what the future might hold for both of you. And as it turns out, you aren’t the only one with their thoughts on the future. 

The drop depot was a mob scene. You knew it would be. Close to a week’s worth of arrivals from the Ephrate, Karo Sector and the Bakhroma Ring had needed to be rescheduled due to choppy weather over the Inullan Ocean. The result was a mass of people eagerly waiting to be reunited with the delayed passengers, and you caught clips of some of their conversations as you moved through the large outdoor space.  

“Slippery sonuva bitch owes me 7,000 points, I don’t care how long the drop is delayed, I’ll be here unt-”

“-haven’t seen them in forty-three cycles, can you believe th-“  

“She said the drop time is only a tick or two, so once they get the all clear it’s not too m-“  

You weren’t interested in eavesdropping, not bothering to listen to what brought others to the depot that morning. Because I have my own reason for being here. Tipping your face upwards and closing one eye to block out the bright sunlight that finally broke through the thick, gray clouds, you made out several freighters hovering just within sight, your stomach flipping with excited anticipation.
