Mercedes averted her attention from Sam and her old friend Tina chatting it up, to see who had all come when she saw her. 

“Santana”, Mercedes whispered to herself as she admired her old crush that she never had the courage to go after.

Santana looked over to get one more quick glance of her, but she was caught, they both were, staring back at each other thinking about what could’ve been, what would never be.
