I was pleased to be asked to display these three paintings at Gatehouse Arts in Harlow. They are part of their current exhibition Female Focus. It includes work by 16 female artists. These three paintings are all mixed media on board. They are all about my role as a woman. As a wife, mother, carer. So this painting ‘A nice day for a promenade’ did NOT get selected for the New English Art Club exhibition, which I think is a pity. But on the upside I’m really proud of this painting. It was challenging to paint and I feel it’s a bit of a break through painting. But I will be exhibiting it somewhere this year unless someone buys it soon. I think this is going to be an exciting year for me and my art. Here is the little painting I finished yesterday, just in time to drop off today for the Harlow Open 20x20 Exhibition that opens next week. Yes, it is only 20x20cm, so a teeny tiny painting. It took me an incredibly long time to paint it and it must have about twenty layers of collage and paint. At times I didn’t think I’d be able to finish it, but I did and I learnt a lot in the process.
